In my opinion, all you need is, wood, fertilizer, enchanted armor and bows, arrows, food, and iron. Thus, a skeleton spawner cage is key to longterm success in Minecraft. Find one, build your world around it (in survival) and grind xp until you can take-on blaze, enderman, ghasts and ender dragons with ease.
