Top 10 Miscalled Emo Groups

This is a list of groups that people think they are emo when they actually aren't
The Top Ten
1 Paramore Paramore is an American rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and drummer Zac Farro.

I never understood what was so "emo" about Paramore, yeah some of their songs sound depressing and they were popular in the emo era... besides of that there wasn't anything emo about them, also thanks to the fact that people think they are emo is the main reason why people hate them

I don't even think they really have that many depressing songs from what I have heard.

2 Green Day Green Day are an American pop punk/punk rock band formed in East Bay, California in 1987. The members include Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals and guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass), Tré Cool (drums) and Jason White (guitar). Green Day are associated with punk rock, pop punk and alternative rock. Some of their influences include The Ramones, Sex Pistols, NOFX, and Bad Religion. They are best known for their songs like ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, ‘Basket Case’ and their ‘American Idiot’ & ‘Dookie’ albums. American Idiot sold 6 million copies in the U.S. and won a Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album". Green Day have sold over 75 million records worldwide and have won 5 Grammy Awards. They ...read more.

Why? Green Day has nothing similar with emo, they were always punky until Nimrod and American Idiot, and no, Billie Joe using eyeliner doesn't make them emo

I like how 4 of the top 10 on your most recognisable 21st century rock bands list are on this list.

3 30 Seconds to Mars Thirty Seconds to Mars (commonly stylized as 30 Seconds to Mars) is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1998. The band currently consists of brothers Jared and Shannon Leto.

This and Paramore were two very popular groups in the emo era, but just like Paramore, I never found anything emo about this band besides Jared Leto look, they sound is more alternative rock and pop rather emo

4 Evanescence Evanescence is an American alternative rock/alternative metal band. It was founded in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody.

Evanescence has nothing emo about it, they are more gothic rather emo (even if they aren't the most gothic band out of there) Specially in some songs that use electronic sound

5 Fall Out Boy Fall Out Boy is an American pop punk band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley.

This one is pretty stupid, just by how famous they were between 2005-2008 and the way Pete Wentz used to look back then (similar case with Jared Leto)

6 Panic! at the Disco Panic! at the Disco was an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004 and featuring the current lineup of vocalist Brendon Urie, accompanied on tour by bassist Dallon Weekes, guitarist Kenneth Harris, and drummer Dan Pawlovich.

Really? This group? They are just Indie Rock, Why they are considered emo? Just because they are extremely close with Brendon Urie and Paramore?

The band currently consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Alex Gaskarth, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Jack Barakat, bassist and backing vocalist Zack Merrick and drummer Rian Dawson.

Just because they sound similar to Fall Out Boy and Paramore

Same stupid reason as why Green Day is considered as emo, and only because some idiots think pop punk and emo and the same thing
POP PUNK =/= EMO

I put a day to remember because for me at least is the best band out of that scene
