Top 10 Misconceptions About Japan

List of things that people generally get wrong about Japan, written by someone who lived there.
The Top Ten
1 They all look like anime characters (False - A lot of Japanese just look like regular people, only a few will walk around with crazy hair and clothes but majority do not)
2 All Japanese love Americans (False - Although majority of Japanese like America a lot, Logan Paul and other White people who feel they are entitled have caused people to limit their shops to foreigners)
3 All Japanese are skinny and pale (False - Japan has fat people just like every other part of the world)

I highly doubt this was ever a misconception, considering the sumo wrestlers.

4 Japan only eats fish (False - Japan has the same food as America)
5 Japanese people like the Yakuza (False - young people want to be a Yakuza because they think it is cool and hip, but older people and police can't wait to see them arrested)
6 There are no guns in Japan (False - it is possible to get a gun if you have a special license, and police officers have guns)
7 All Japanese people are nice (False - Majority of the Japanese that you meet are usually pretty nice and cool but just like every other country, there are people who just want to be left alone)
8 Japan is very safe and there is no crime (False - Yes Japan is safe and Tokyo at 2:00 AM is safer than Detroit at 12:00 PM, but a crime can happen anywhere and you should be fine as long as you are not openly careless or asking for it)
9 Everybody likes Visual kei (False - A lot of Japanese think it is girly or "gay," and have accused X-Japan of "ruining" heavy metal because they started the trend)
10 Everybody drives a sports cart (Nope - it is common to see a fast sports car but majority or people drive regular cars or just take public transportation)
