Top Ten Most Misunderstood Fictional Characters

The Contenders: Page 3

41 Rouge the Bat Rouge the Bat

Which is the one true pairing? Rouge with Shadow, or Rouge with Knuckles? Last time I have checked, there is NO canon Sonic shipping in any of the Sonic games, T.V. shows or comics. Although a few are implied, such as Sonic/Sally in SatAM, Tails/Cosmo in Sonic X and Sonic/Amy in Sonic Boom, but none of them were serious romance. And most importantly, Tails and Cream shown absolutely no romantic interest towards each other. Anyway, back on the subject... Just because Rouge the Bat is a flirt, doesn't mean you have to ship her with every fictional character in existence.

42 Fox McCloud Fox McCloud

He is a GREAT hero. Deserves more credit.

Awesome hero of a good video game franchise. While poor Fox may not be as praised or well known as Mario or Link, he still has potential to become a major icon for Nintendo in the future. I can hope so, because after all, the best-reviewed game in the series, Star Fox 64, was innovative at the time for introducing the rumble feature that is common in most game controllers today.

What angers me is when Fox is mistaken as someone who is similar to Simba from The Lion King (which I hate that character and the whole movie he comes from with a burning passion) when they're nothing alike. Fox didn't start out bratty like Simba did, that's for sure.

43 Daxter (Jak & Daxter)

Dexter Is Hilarious

Daxter is, in fact, an Ottsel, which is a fictional cross between an otter and a weasel. Although he was originally human, Daxter became an Ottsel after falling into dark eco in the beginning of The Precursor Legacy. G'day.

Often mistaken as annoying or a Timon ripoff when he is none of those. First, he is a fictional weasel/otter hybrid, not a meerkat. And finally, second, Daxter can be useful, helpful, and is actually very funny.

P.S. I dislike Timon, and The Lion King as a whole, with a burning passion.

44 Katt Monroe (Star Fox Command)

Often hated by fans who prefer her pink-furred appearance in Star Fox 64/Zero when the fact is that Command! Katt is still the same character she was before. (i.e. her theme returns, her ship is still called the Catspaw, the list goes on)

45 Lucy Hare (Star Fox Command)

Often mistaken by fans as Fox McCloud's love interest when she never shown any romantic feelings for him anywhere in Command. Being the children of the original Star Fox team members (James McCloud and Peppy Hare) doesn't make them a couple either, so if that were the case, then their relationship would be platonic, not romantic. Let's not forget that Lucy has been good friends with Krystal and felt sad when Fox and Krystal broke up, so she's like a shipper on deck for the two.

46 Max (The Secret Life of Pets) V 1 Comment
47 Star (Balto)

Nikki, Kaltag and Star are often mistaken as ripoffs of the hyenas from The Lion King when they're not, as there is no proof of them being ripoffs. You also gotta admit that Steele treated these three poorly, no wonder why Balto saved them and let them help him bring the medicine back to a town full of sick children.

I think the film would've been better if Steele only had Nikki and Kaltag on his side at first along with a number of unnamed sled dogs. I find Star to be a ridiculously dumb and annoying character, and not all henchmen are trios. (and of course, not all henchmen are hyenas, either. But that's a different topic) This is why so many fans compare the trio of the first Balto film with the abominations known as Shenzi, Banzai and Ed of The Lion King fame so much.

48 Falco Lombardi Falco Lombardi Falco Lombardi is an anthropomorphic bird character from the Star Fox series of video games. He was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and designed by Takaya Imamura. Falco acts as the wingman and friend of title character Fox McCloud for the majority of the series.

Misunderstood because of the whole debate about what species he is. Pheasant or bird of prey? It doesn't matter. While it is true that his colors were inspired by the pheasant in Japanese folklore, the same interview suggests that he might be a falcon, hence his name. Although he also looks like a red-throated caracara, we still don't know what his true species is until maybe a future Star Fox game or a book on Star Fox's characters/world is to be made.

49 Captain Falcon Captain Falcon Douglas Jay Falcon, known commonly as Captain Falcon, is a playable character in the racing video game series F-Zero.

It seems that not everyone is familiar with F-Zero, sadly. Thus, most people nowadays know him more from as the fighter from Super Smash Bros. who goes "FALCON PUNCH! " on everyone as opposed to the main protagonist from the F-Zero games. It also don't help that Nintendo hasn't made a new F-Zero game in AGES, so hopefully they will soon if they get enough fan support to do so. It's really a good series, and at least the games are available on the Virtual Console, so that's better than nothing.

50 Samus Samus Samus Aran is the protagonist of the Metroid science fiction action-adventure game series by Nintendo.

Simply because of the whole "Wait, Metroid is a girl? " fiasco people had for years. No, her name is not Metroid, and yes, she's a girl. The game's name actually came from one of the enemies she fights. (the one who appears as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. no less) Not every game series is named after the protagonist, you know what I mean.

51 Renamon - Digimon

Four words: SHE IS NOT SEXY. The furry fandom has ruined Renamon big time and completely misunderstood who she really is. She is a Digimon, not a sex symbol. Heck, Renamon is actually more masculine-looking than sexy, and she is even a male character rather than female in one of the anime's European dubs, so I don't know what makes her such a turn on for most furries.

52 Foxy Foxy

Often mistaken as a "good guy" by the fandom when, like the other animatronics in Five Nights At Freddy's, he is one of the antagonists, not a "good guy", while the protagonist in the game is a human security guard.

Foxy is cool and all, it is perfectly fine to like any of the FNAF series animatronics, but you also have to accept them as who they are, so liking them would be no different than liking, say, Bowser or Dr. Robotnik a.k.a. Eggman.

53 Wolf O' Donnell (Star Fox)

Seriously, he is not a bishonen. Wolf is as masculine as Fox. (Perhaps even moreso because Wolf is a bit taller and more muscular than Fox and even Falco) He doesn't deserve to be bishie-fied just because he's the rival or "evil counterpart" to the heroic main character. Also, Fox and Wolf are rivals, not lovers.

54 Dusty - Balto III: Wings of Change

Misunderstood all because of a silly pairing war. Dusty is mistaken as Kodi's love interest when in fact, she already has a mate, Ralph. It's just that the writers of the film didn't have time to put scenes in to explore this.

55 Captain America Captain America Captain America is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
56 Suzaku Kururugi Suzaku Kururugi Suzaku Kururugi is a fictional character in the Sunrise anime series Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.
