Top Ten Best Modern Sonic the Hedgehog Games
Wow...I haven't made a list in a long time. Anyways, why am I making this list? Well, I haven't made a Sonic list yet and Sonic the Hedgehog is my second favorite video game franchise. I also want to show the Sonic Fanbase who is stuck back in the genesis days and the Adventure days that there ARE good Sonic Games now. So which games are actually good?I enjoyed the gameplay in this better than Colors (though Color's graphics were gorgeous). It was so much fun to play! The challenges gave it replay value and the remixed music was great too.
Does this really count? I mean, other than the gameplay, it's nothing but a giant nostalgia trip.
This game pleased modern and classic fans which is why it worked so well.
A great game for classic and modern fans
Sonic Colors would remain a phenomenon if Amy Rose were portrayed like in Sonic Boom, Blaze the Cat (nearly one of my favorite Sonic characters) didn't mention the fact that she has a sisterly relation with Marine the Raccoon, if the voices of some Sonic characters (Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit and Dr. Eggman), food jokes and didn't make the Mario franchise look quite jealous (Mario needs vocal songs, cinematic cutscenes and extensive voice acting). Despite that, I nevertheless like Sonic Colors and give it an 8/10.
The things I did not like abut the deft, big, heartfelt gem known as Sonic Unleashed HD is Sonic's tweeny surfer-dude voice, the repetition of the heavily underrated Werehog enemy battles whereas you have to mostly fight the same enemies, Amy Rose (re: her fawning over Sonic, her overpowered fanbase, her dress skirt sticking out like a tutu and her voice, that's it... Amy Rose is such a minor aspect to Sonic Unleashed, and at least she wants to help out Sonic the Hedgehog along with Professor Pickles whom she is the supposed sidekick of), only two music tracks that are the repetitive, run-of-the-mill, uncatchy, bland Werehog battle theme and theme song whereas Sonic gets chased by Eggman's flying baddies and the stereotypes. I give Sonic Unleashed an 8/10.
I don't know why people say it sucks, Wereweegee. "SANIC SHOOD KNOT BEE A WEREHOG! " But I liked the brawling segments! The speed sections are phenomenal and the brawling sections are also fun.
This Game Is Awesome But I Really Disliked The Level Design
Honestly, I cannot understand why people hate this game...
It's a very underrated experience. It feels like a 2D Sonic Game in 3D. Most of the modern games were all about going as fast as possible, but this game was about platforming to earn speed (what 2D Sonic was about). I love the level design, the graphics, and the characters. Good job SEGA. Wish it was multiplayer though.
This Game Is Good But I Thought It Didn't Have Enough Characters, But Still A 7/10 Game
Blaze the Cat and the members of Team Sonic > Dr. Eggman Nega and the members of Team Rose
Let's all put Sonic Advance as the whole trilogy. It's definitely deserving of top 1 (not counting the Super Smash Bros. series or Modern [or should I say Dreamcast Era] Sonic games released in the 2nd millennium AD's end). I love Sonic Advance mainly because it's retro, even for GBA standards.
This is better than Sonic Mania. Don't call me a troll, but I feel like it provided a better way of bringing the 2D games into the next generation than Mania ever will
Ist so edgy wich menas ist so good. But in all honesty, this game is awesome! You get to shoot robots in a Sonic game! How cool is that!
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 (16-bit) is nearly one of them. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (& Knuckles) is one of my (top) favorite SEGA games of all time besides NIGHTS Into Dreams. Talk about severe 16-bit SEGA power and so much groundbreaking fun!
I Like This Game Because It Gave Me Access To One Of The Best Games Ever Made, Sonic The Hedgehog 2
It's nice that SEGA released this for all of the jerks stuck in the past.
I have this game and that's how I play the classic games.
Finally! Someone remembered to add this to the list. While Sonic the Hedgehog had some heavily disappointing games such as Sonic Next-Gen, Sonic Free Riders, Sonic & the Secret Rings, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice has to be the Sonic the Hedgehog game that has seriously exceeded our expectations. Me tell you why later. Any replies?
Well, Shadow the Hedgehog is a mixed bag. I expected Sonic Free Riders to have characters from different SEGA franchises like in its more underrated predecessors. Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice actually has a really good story. It has fire & ice. It also looks unique for 3DS standards.
Better than the other two Boom games by far.
This Game Is Alright!
The best rated Sonic game in 15 years (until Mania usurped its position), has one of the best soundtracks in the Sonic franchise, and 3 modes of unique, good gameplay.
Why is this here?!?! It's a classic game?!?!
I really like this game. Some people say it's too easy but beating the final King Arthur boss is SUPER hard. I never beat him. Also the graphics are great and the music is amazing.
I only think of the Black Knight as decent. Hey, at least it's better than 06 and Secret Rings, right?
It may be one of the weaker Sonic games, but of course it's superior to these games!
I love this game. I would always play it on my Wii (until Colors)
I never heard of this.
Sometimes I wish this was number 1. But my friends tell me that this game is just a tiny bit disappointing without the Shadow and Chaos boss battles. But I really like the music and the fact that you get to create your own character and he gets gadgets called wispons. All of them are OP.
This is really underrated and shows how divided the sonic fanbase
Crimially underrated. People, it's the best modern sonic gane ever invented
It was still good though.
I loved this game when I was 5 but haven't plate it since, so that's probably just my nostalgia talking
I don't hate...but I don't love.
When I put Sonic Rivals on the list, I was talking about the whole duology. It has great graphics (because they are Dreamcast-esque PSP graphics), a very deft soundtrack (what do you expect from a Sonic game? ), actual depth and a severely intriguing gameplay.
This is severely underrated. Sonic Rivals has fun, strong characters (especially Knuckles, NIGHTS and AiAi), sharp visuals (especially the 2D), special music with techno and rock and actually knows how to take itself seriously at times.
I'm so hyped up about this one.
It was an overly obvious improvement over its predecessor.
I'm not a troll. It's just that 2006 is not as bad a game as everyone thinks and does not deserve the hate it gets. It may not be the best Sonic game, but still can be liked.
great game
Well...the trolls got onto this list...
Lol, it's okay if you liked it, but I didn't.
Despite the glitchs and bugs, I enjoyed this game (the only issue is the stupid human princess than Sonic somehow likes)
I'll admit, the original T-Mobile version is actually superior to its remake. It's much more original in every way. Plus they gave 8-11 year old Tails a laboratory!
