Top Ten Moments in the Harry Potter Franchise Where Harry Nearly DiesHarry, the boy who lived, comes close to dying in almost every movie. Where was he closest to death?
Here, Harry didn't resist, he knew he was a Horcrux and had to remove the part of Voldemort within him. This was the closest he got to death because of him showing up in a completely different plane of existence and having a choice to go back.
The moment where Harry's parents were murdered. Lily's love saved Harry that night, and he was only an infant then. Voldemort wanted him dead according to a prophecy and his Killing Curse rebounded. But Harry was young and could have easily been killed here.
You guys have to remember, Harry was a Horcrux, and Basilisk fangs can destroy Horcruxes. In a last ditch attack, Harry plunges the sword through the Basilisk's face, but gets a fang stuck on him. He uses that same fang to destroy Riddle's Diary, but he himself was so close to death. Had it not been for Fawkes he surely would not have made it.
Right at the resurrection of Voldemort at the end of the Goblet of Fire. It was perhaps Harry's most terrifying moment, he was being hit with Imperius and Cruciatus curse, as well as the pain (the iconic scene of Voldemort touching him too). Plus had it not been for Priori Incantatem he would have never made it out of there.
This moment from Half Blood Prince had Harry and Dumbledore venture to get a Horcrux, and Dumbledore was incredibly weak at the end. The Inferi attack Harry and he couldn't get rid of them all as they caused him to be submerged under water. Had Dumbledore not regained strength Harry would have easily drowned there.
This moment near the end of Prisoner of Azkaban when Sirius was attacked by Dementors for the "kiss" was quite terrifying, and while Harry wasn't the target he certainly got attacked numerous times trying to help Sirius. Had it not been for the Time-turner version of himself he would have possibly died at that moment.
The second task takes place underwater, and already we know drowning is terrifying but also the prospect of Harry trying to figure out what to do was also problematic. And then the merpeople attempted to drag him down for being too courageous.
This scene from Deathly Hallows may seem unfamiliar but it was during the Horcrux hunt. Harry had the locket on him at the time, attempted to reach the the sword, and the Horcrux attempted to strangle him. This is the THIRD TIME on this list Harry nearly drowned, and he was mostly alone in all these moments. Ron rescued him, but who knows what would happen if he wasn't there.
While on the run, Hagrid (his ride) got stunned, and he had to control the motorbike for a bit. Also Hedwig sort of gave his location away and he had to lock wands with Voldemort yet again.
Voldemort's second attack on Potter happened here while he used Quirrell's body, attempting to trap him but Lily's love power allowed Harry to avoid death (although he still passed out for three days).
