Most Brutal Death Metal BandsNord666 This is a list of Death Metal bands based on their brutal sounds, heavy guitar riffs, harsh guttural vocals and deep death growls.
The Top Ten
They are the gods of brutality. I don't want to hear any bull about cannibal corpse being "mainstream." They are not even close to being mainstream. If they were mainstream they would be mention in the same sentence as popular pop acts, but they're not. Cannibal corpse is more popular than probably any other death metal band ever, but that doesn't make them mainstream because death metal is underground to being with. Some people might try to pretend they are mainstream to make them less brutal, but even if they were it wouldn't make them any less brutal, just more popular. They are the heaviest, most brutal death metal band of all time.
Duh. - Firemist
Keep on make a most number 1 in death metal music history. Get on hammer smashed.. Haha
Very mellow band compared to newer bands like Origin and Portal. Very mainstream and Hammer Smashed Face was even featured in Ace Ventura's Pet Detective movie. Not sure why it's number one here!V 58 Comments
Gotta love the the Middle-Eastern vibes - AdamDestructorJr.
Nile is a band that may not be what people immediately think of when they think brutal death metal, but they have some of the fastest and most brutal songs out there.
For me no one like Nile. Brutal, but different than other Death Metal bands. They creates great atmosphere... Like ancient tomb
They do brutality right. When they're fast it rips your face off. When they're slow it feels like the hammer of the gods on your spine. Absolute best Brutal Death Metal.V 16 Comments
One of my favorites in this genre of music the guitars kicks you in the ass and the songs are well composes and produced cool choice of lyrics and and singing style awesome choice for songs they just keep getting better every album they sound so good live they crush the competition they are metal gods in this genre all hail mighty behemoth
They are scum but they are good
Behemoth's demigod and evangelion make cannibal corpse's butchered at birth and tomb of the mutilated sound like a boy band so much brutality in behemoth
What... Behemoth On 13... It must be on top man... Come on... Where you'll find more devilry in songs... And each time I listen their music... Gives me chills... Wo... Like a horror movie...V 25 Comments
If this is a list on BRUTAL death a which is a different genera then death metal and devourment helped create it and get it better known with the amazing albums molesting the decapitated and butcher the weak so these bands that are just death metal shouldn't be on a list of brutal death bands.
How is this not at the top? Most brutal band I've ever heard.
This band is FAR more brutal than Bloodbath, Nile and Cryptopsy. They're not even that guttural compared to this guy's growls. These guys are WAY heavier. Plus, just look them up on iTunes and compare the song names and lyrics to the other bands. There's no comparison. "Babykiller" and "Molesting the Decapitated" by Devourment make "Eaten" by Bloodbath look and sound like a lullaby.
This band isn't even top ten? What! This band is one of the biggest brutal death bands in the world...V 16 Comments
BLOODBATH this band is just like the name of it BRUTAL the most brutal band ever with those guitars bass and drums it not done the main reason for BLOODBATHs brutality is the vocalist named MIKAEL AKERFELDT this guy is the best growler ever his voice is awesome brutal and with lyrics brutality is seen, from songs like EATEN, SOUL EVISERATION, SO YOU DIE and much more BLOODBATH deserves to be number 1 on this list...
I love Bloodbath. They are indeed brutal, but definitely not the most brutal. - Flav
My absolute favorite band. Bloodbath have a dark ambiance mixed with good and heavy groove. Taking from bands like entombed and dismember. I wish these guys would come across north america, sadly they seem to only play in the Netherlands.
Mikael Akerfeldt did it all... in combination with the sheer evil melodies and virtuoso drummer - they're easily the bost brutal sound wise and the scariest as well - soundwise.
Has the best growls and vocalsV 10 Comments
Lord worm era rules
Cannibal Corpse is a joke. None So Vile is where it's at!
"None so vile" is maybe the best brutal death metal album ever!
One of Cryptopsy's earliest albums, Blasphemy Made Flesh, is extremely loud, fast as hell, and downright heavy and insane, and that was just when they first started! They're other albums continue to amaze with incredible sound and brutality. These guys will never dissapoint if you're in the mood for the slams!V 8 Comments
Dying Fetus brings technical death metal into brutality cannot compete with cannibal corpse but definitely a close second in my opinion has the crazy lyrics, wild ass sweep arpeggios, and still those caveman riffs all together creating dying fetus cannot wait for there new album, gonna be hard for them to follow up reign supreme but they managed with purification through violence still my favorite album theyve made
Brutal As all HELL, just go listen to Subjected To a Beating.
Maybe the biggest influence on brutal death metal besides, cannibal and suffocation. Should be ranked much higher
Killing on adrenaline. Enough saidV 14 Comments
I had been constantly in the search of some serious brutality until I came across this band, and I knew I had struck gold. I mean its not that CC is not good enough, but I personally favour Suffocation
Suffocation, great death metal band, their first album was genius, same with a lot of their others.
Should be #1, or at least higher than Cannibal Corpse. Cannibal Corpse is very overrated.
Number 8? are you joking. Suffocation crushes and has been for more than 25 years despite numerous lineup changes. Band deserves more respect and has earned the top spotV 10 Comments
I'm a long gone Deicide song on vinyl.
Brutal, blasphemous and satanic. That right there should say it all. Guttoral vocals and super fast tremolo guitarwork... Going strong for twenty five years as of 2013. Soldiering past bans and extreme controversy and censoring while laughing at it all the way... What's NOT to like?
Are you kidding me. Deicide should be there in top 3 at least.
I love Deicide and think they are heavier than cannibal corpse which happens to be my second favorite band.V 6 Comments
Yeah stfu this is best band
Meshuggah aren't really death metal, but they're still one of the heaviest and most brutal bands ever. Their song Corridor of Chameleons will make you want to smash everything in the same room
Dude Meshuggah is the most brutal out there! Should be on top!
One of the heaviest bands out there, but they aren't Death Metal. The vocalist doesn't use death growls. I'd call them Progressive Groove Metal/Djent - ryanrimmelV 5 Comments
Day 69 is full of collateral bloody damage, CC is what everyone says and they're the Nickelback of death metal (too generic, sold out).
This band records their music in hell, death and gore - Odinest
One best metal band
The masters of metalV 4 Comments
I think some of the comments and votes are based on or too greatly influenced by people's favorite band(s) instead of the question at hand which is "who is the most brutal? " Although what is more brutal to one wouldn't be to another. There are several bands on this list I like better than Brain Drill, though I think Brain Drill are by far the most brutal. They are savagely intense, loud, insanely fast, super technical and spastically aggressive. There might be a few bands that come close but not quite touch them and whilst not being a whole new level up in the genera they have definitely raised the bar some.
What are they even? I can't wrap my head around their riffs. They all sound like solos except the bass is playing the exact same thing! They are completely insane.
It's deathcore, not death metal. Still amazing!
For God's sake this is core not brutal - Ananya
Listen through somatic defilement and then tell me they don't belong on this list.
There are two kinds of people, those who love whitechapel and those who never listened to deathcoreV 4 Comments
They should be in the top tens! Their two albums are more brutal then half the bands in the top tens.
They are so brutal but also catchy, its amazing
These guys absolutely slam. Doesn't get much more brutal than this
The kings of brutal death/slam, holy these guys are incredible.V 6 Comments
You guys have not listened to vader yet? - awanshrestha
Where is Luke Skywalker when you need him?
Luke, I am your father...
Blasphemous growling comes from the doors of hell!
Hail vader! - Ananya
Should be top 5 not for everyone but this band is ingenious the lyrics unique, not just a bunch of nonsense actual thought put into the art,
Pure demonic bile for humankind. Their recent albums (The Harvest Floor, Monolith Of Inhumanity, The Anthropocene Extinction) are apocalyptically heavy. Dangerously fast and insanely technical, they are more than just a vegetarian grind core; they are black metal, progressive metal, death metal, tech death, and overall, they are brutal!
Nothing is more brutal than it!
A very very very heavy band, enough saidV 11 Comments
Deathcore, not death metal! Still, extremely brutal band.
The fact they are #21 on this list makes all the people who voted look retarded
One of the heaviest things in existance
I have yet to find any bands more brutal or violent than them. I mean come on, all of their songs are about raping woman and babies. What's more brutal than that?V 11 Comments
Dude check these guys out- if you've never heard them, you don't know what brutal is.
All these people who are not voting for these guys just haven't heard them, they are relentless!
Good band, especially their 2006 album Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead.
Their intros are class hahaV 3 Comments
Origin is pure death!
Technical enough. But not consistent with their song writing. The drummer is insane..effing machine
Intensity, brutality &f full agression played at high speed with incredible technical skill...this band must be in a top position
I feel that 'the Bleeding' and 'Maximum Violence', are my 2 most memorable death metal albums, of al time. Chris Barnes just provides something that strikes a nerve, with me.
Best death metal band overall. Each album is consistently bone crushing good. No bad albums. Yet!
A gateway band for many metalheads who are looking into entering the passages of death metal. Maximum violence did the trick to me when I was a teenager...Chris Barnes needs his due credit, come what mayV 7 Comments
A real good death metal band from Sweden
They're amazing but I wouldn't say brutal enough to be top 10.
*&$(*@)! @* WHO PUT AURTHOHIN ON HERE AND VOTED FOR THEM? It's not even death metal in the slightest sense! They're a Bangladeshi hard rock band, and they have no qualities that are even remotely similar to any death metal. Certainly they don't belong above Amon Amarth.
I like both their albums but I got to say katalepsy needs top 10 and guttural secrete should be on the list like what are they?
The heaviest band ever
It must be at number 1
Cold flesh citadel
Their two newest albums are the HEAVIEST thing I have EVER heard. Cannibal corpse is EXTREMELY heavy, but even THEY are not THIS HEAVY! - elves23
Canadian band of absolute brutality. 22? What!V 4 Comments
These guys are insane the vocalist does pig squeals it's nasty. But the instruments are really good and these guys are really underrated. - higgs
How many other bands do you know that can have one of the most brutal songs in history and call it "A Quiet Day"
One of the most influential bands of all time, Cannibal Corpse were influenced by this band. - GREYBOYY
One of the pioneers of death metal! M/
Best death metal band ever.
Technically they're progressive metal.
One of the most brutal bands on this list. Definitely deserves to be number 1
Vulvodynia? Aborted? Kraanium? Pft, this is real slamming brutal death metal
Very underrated band. As far as straight up, crushing musicianship and brutality, they are my go to.
Incredibly underrated. A consistent and relentless death metal band. Honour, Valor, and Pride!
Underrated but amazing! Listen to All That Remains, that's easily one of their best.
Slow, but riffs are as brutal as anything out there. Napalm in slo moV 4 Comments
Heavy, but not brutal. - Merkwurdigliebe
Hate those bands who try to much I love the pure brutal death when they just wrote the lyrics and don t care about anything else, but Death s first 3 albums are pure Death and better and more brutal than most of the bands, not the most brutal but definitely top 5, plus the greatest band ever in my opinion at least - Deako
Who ever said the genre is named after death needs to do some research. Agreed death is amazing but this is also a list for brutal and death isn't really brutal
It's really sad to see Death here at this position. It should be at number 1. Chuck deserves more than this.. He was a true musician and a real gentleman in all aspects. The band is not active anymore for obvious reasons, but human, symbolic are perhaps that takes death metal to a whole new level of song writing and musicianship. It is not a coincidence that Chuck is not with us anymore..greatness usually comes at a great price..V 8 Comments
Symphonic extreme metal... This is so brutal I got in a few fights as it came on my ipod during my workouts. My first 350lb bench was achieved to the Violation... Give it a listen!
That's the must for aggressive and speed death metal, all the brutal death metal is here!
Hey man, bloody hard list haha! They are all unique, but I love BDM and all things heavy! Great stuff
Incredibly fast, really accurate and damn brutal. They are untouchable.
Aborted is the combination of melodic riffs with deep and intense growls.V 2 Comments
This is the pure definition of brutal. Growling guttural vocals and almost minute long insane bass drops. Simply amazing slam.
That is my favorite slam brutal death band
One of the best brutal death metal bands I've heard in a long time, ain't very popular but they are way too underrated, these guys deserve more credit - tommywalton
I bought their album regicide expecting it to be something different from what I expected... its very good
Most brutal technical Death metal band. Listen to - Sedition through scorn
One of the best bands everV 2 Comments
DEATHCORE SUCKS YOU POSERS
Thy Art Is Murder isn't even a brutal death metal band, they're deathcore. Shouldn't technically be here.
Try and imagine an Australian version of Whitechapel yup that's Thy Art is Murder for ya
Also, Thy Art is Murder is way better and more brutal than Whitechapel
Thy Art Is Murder is completely deathcore.V 1 Comment
Morbid are pioneers of the dark ambience death metal and fast shred, almost hard to support heavy riffs! Morbid Angel - Gateway to annihilation
Great old school death metal
Dark, Deep, Atmospheric, Destructive and powerful Death metal! (Not include their new album illud Diluvium...)
Yeah hail the most evil death metal bands there ever was
So blasphemous and brutal best album in my opinion is blasphemy all the way
The growls come from the depth of hell. - GREYBOYY
No other band is more brutal than The Berzerker. It makes cannibal corpse look like one direction
Pure meaning of brutal
The Berzerker is the heaviest band ever just listen to Eye for an Eye,No One Wins and Forever and tell me that any of the above bands is heavier!
Cannibal corpse wannabes (LOL)V 1 Comment
Awesome best grind band ever, no one is capable of taking their throne!
How are they not on here? Should be top 3 easily
Because they have one good song. Recycled trash by old men who can't give up as they have no other choice. Tragedy really.
This British band is grindcore, not brutal death metal.
And not Death Metal? Split hairs much? Back in my day there were only a few genres, now it's gone crazy. You kids don't know shiz!V 1 Comment
If you're a fan of Suffocation, you would love this band.
Mick Thomson out of slipknot likes them
And he knows what to listen to
Sickening gore to match the likes of the groundbreaking bands that brought guttural and slam to the mouths of metal heads everywhere. Fans of disgorge (mex) devourment and visceral trail already know what others will soon learn. They brimg to light issuez that face humanity like incontinence, Youll never look at a vagina the same
Brutal, gorey, Slam Death Metal - ryanrimmel
THIS IS THE MOST BRUTAL BAND EVER! PERIOD. Just look at their album cover "Post Abortion Slut "... Most evil, gruesome, downright twisted and brutal band EVER.
Insane Japanese Technical Brutal Death Metal. Just wow. Furious. - Flav
What? When I clicked on this list I expected them to be number 1.. Just listen to "Higher Coward". Has the most pounding, brutal guitar and vocals you will ever hear.
Better than Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse
Really brutal band. If you're a true death metal fan you know. can't believe they got zero votes
Goddamnit! Needs to be higher
I thought this was a most Brutal list. How can Defeated Sanity be behind Cannibal Corpse or Bloodbath? And where is Abysmal Torment on this list?
This band literally lives to make brutal music. I expected them to be number one, to be honest.
Defeated Sanity is god-like brutal they have always been on Their game and each album is heavy, diabolical
Brilliant, Fast and Brutal. One of the most insane bands created on this planet.V 1 Comment
They r really good
It's experimental death metal like opeth.
Just listen to their song guti the fanale, nikristo 2
Guttural secrete are an INSANELY technical and brutal band. They are more brutal than Pathology, and that's saying something.
Very crazy Hard core. Punção oh ieah
They're so damn evil! I love their ways of expressing murder. It makes me want to tear someone limb from limb with my bare hands while looking at their face knowing their demise has come. Their breakdowns are just as amazing! They have the longest held screams I've heard in all of death metal! They're my #1!
I like dave cullros
