Top 10 Most Extreme Music Genres

The Top Ten
1 Death Metal

Arch Enemy. All I gotta say for the lead vocalist, the solos, the drums, the speed and just the sheer fact that there are two women who can sound like they have balls that have dropped below their knee caps will make me accept how Death Metal is the most extreme genre of music.

I don't know why but I get goosebumps only by hearing its name. I'm happy with only Thrash Metal. Other forms of Metal are a completely no-no!

The tempo changes, deep growls, heavily distorted low-tuned guitars and it's fastest genre in the world.

Deals Death - Fortified
Melodic death metal.
One of the extreme songs I know

2 Black Metal

Black Metal is still the most extreme genre of music that I can find, including all of it's related subgenres and microgenres. When I take a look at extreme EDM for example, I find breakcore. And while Breakcore *is* an extreme genre of music, Black Metal easily defeats Breakcore in extremity musically. The only thing that could come close to beating Black Metal, is perhaps some sort of hybrid between harsh black noise and war metal. However another genre that can come pretty close is Raw Hardstyle (an extreme underground EDM genre) it's very good, totally recommend.

But yes, Black Metal tops in extremeness.

Still I don't get why people say that death is more extreme. Did cannibal corpse impale goats and pig heads during their concerts? Bestial black metal (which is actually different from blackened death) is way more extreme than brutal death metal. Even some normal black metal bands are heavier than cannibal corpse (marduk, deathcrush mayhem, dark funeral, infernal war etc...)

Very extreme, especially Mayhem, Darkthrone and Immortal songs.

Depending on which bands you listen to

3 Grindcore

To me, listening to grindcore is the same thing as listening to a washing machine on repeat with the sounds of somebody getting tortured over it. It's hardly even music

This is more of a punk subgenre than a metal subgenre, and it's one of the heaviest genres out there.

Some punk genres are actually more heavier than some metal genres because of how raw and chaotic punk is (I of course am talking about the more hardcore stuff and not the melodic/poppy sounding stuff). So punk is ironically more heavy than heavy metal.

The most extreme genre I've ever heard in metal subgenre.

Grindcore is violence.

4 Deathcore

Death metal + heavy metal + hardcore=heavy

5 Avant-garde Metal
6 Technical Death Metal (Tech-Death or Progressive Death Metal)
7 Hoomii
8 Thrash Metal Thrash Metal is a Heavy Metal subgenre developed during the early 1980s and an early precursor of Extreme Metal. Thrash Metal features a faster and more aggressive guitar work than Traditional Metal with shredding and double-bass drums and can range from melodic singing to loud shouts. ...read more.

This is the most hardcore, and why is hard rock higher than this? Someone clearly is retarded to think that.

Kreator, Sodom and Slayer are the examples.

9 Goregrind
10 Hardcore
The Contenders
11 Harsh Noise

should be number 1

12 Speed Metal
13 Metalcore

Really love this but it is REALLY extreme

14 Mathcore

Many mathcore bands like Messhugah,Dillinger Escape Plan and Protest The Hero are really heavy

15 Hard Rock Hard Rock is a subgenre of rock music known for having heavier guitar riffs/solos. It originated around 1964-1965 with various Garage Rock bands.

Foo Fighters and System Of A Down are the most extreme examples of this genre.

16 Extratone

The fastest genre in the world. A sub-genre of speedcore. BPM ia always 1000+. Many people say that it doesn't sound like music, because the tempo is so fast that it sounds like a single tone, thus the name: extratone.

How is this not number one

Diabarha, Hynla, Awesa just a name a few

Black metal, death metal, thrash metal... it's all baby music compared to extratone.

17 Groove Metal
18 Indian Classical Music
19 Chill (Non-Voc)
20 Political Hip Hop
21 Powerviolence
22 Choral Music
23 Gothic Metal

Evanescence, not only this band is Dark Metal but also is heavier than alll Gothic Metal bands, remember that heaviness is different with violence, also they make their guitar sounds heavier, just like Doom Metal bands, meanwhile, they're extreme.

This genre is extreme and symphonic. With death- and doom metal roots, there's no way this can't be #1

24 Nu-Metal

Slipknot, Linin Park, fast, violent mixed with death growls and groove metal thick voice, these things are enough to describe how much extreme this genre is.

25 Industrial Metal

Listen to Strapping Young Lad and come back here.
