Most Hauntingly Beautiful and Sad Songs
The Contenders: Page 17
Beautiful and sad. One of their best songs, though massively underrated.
Never sigh for better world, it's already composed, played and told.
Exceedingly haunting especially haunting, beautiful, and best of all, open to your own interpretation.
Haunting, vulnerable, hopeful, and beautiful. What more could you want?
It is truly a beautiful song, and yet horrifying and depressing all at the same time. When you dig into the lyrics and meaning of the song, you will see it really is an amazing, hauntingly beautiful song.
This was named based on a poem of the same name by Anne Sexton. She was a famous poet, but also a mental patient, and she wrote as a form of therapy. Gabriel was impressed that she wrote entirely for herself rather than an audience. Sexton made five suicide attempts, the fifth being successful: she died of carbon monoxide poisoning in 1974. The song is very beautifully written, deep and reflects her struggle in life. Worth a listen. - sharzi
Beautiful and sad song that pulls you in. The lyrics are heart-felt and very poetic. The song begins "Step out the front door like a ghost into the fog where no one notices the contrast of white on white." and just gets better and better. - sharzi
