Most Inconvenient United States Cities to Live In

The Top Ten
1 New York City The City of New York, often called New York City or simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States. New York City is also the most densely populated major city in the United States.

So right, New York City would be pure torture. Though, for recreation, it would be the place to go. That's not the point. So many things going on, and lots of cars... Just... UGH...

I would get irritated at the taxi drivers constantly honking... They need to learn how to be patient.

Very convenient: Good public transportation, very walkable.

I live in a college dorm here and LOVE IT. living here is very convenient

2 Detroit Detroit is the largest and most populous city in the U.S. state of Michigan. Located across from Windsor, Ontario, Canada on the Detroit River, Detroit had an estimated population of 672,662 in 2018.

Come on! they should have called this sin city! NOT Vegas!

I'd say getting murdered is pretty inconvenient.

The peoples be trippin' down in Detroit.

Crime, violence, unemployement, and the worst think of all: Eminem.

3 Los Angeles Los Angeles, officially the City of Los Angeles and often abbreviated as L.A., is the largest city in California. It has an estimated population of nearly 4 million, and is the second-largest city in the United States, after New York City, and the third-largest city in North America, after Mexico City ...read more.

It should be second (just after Detroit) Ugly, racist and hostile city, you take Hollywood away and it's Salt Lake City.

Too much fame, gangsters that kill people, and worst of all the Kardashians.

Los Angeles is 468,000 square miles. And New York City is 302,000 square miles.
It's packed in New York City.

Hate to live here

4 Miami Miami, officially the City of Miami, is the cultural, economic and financial center of South Florida. Miami is the seat of Miami-Dade County, the most populous county in Florida.

Miami is a nice place to visit, not to live. It's expensive to live here, mostly due to paying for different types of insurance, like wind and car. The traffic and drivers are horrible, the roads are getting too small for the amount of people that live here, but I know it's not nearly as bad as L.A. or NYC. People who don't live here think it must be this relaxed place and that you go to South Beach every other weekend but it's not like that at all. Miami is a "hustle" city. Most people are very stressed and in a rush, which is why 80% of people are extremely rude and if you pause for 1.5 seconds after a light turns green, you will be honked at very loudly. I speak Spanish, but if you don't, it will be difficult to communicate with people in like 75% of Miami. I like other things about Miami, but honestly I'd rather live somewhere else

Miami is wonderful, it's beautiful and palm trees put the finishing touches!

Love Miami.. beautiful city with a lot of culture and fun.. especially love all the Cuban cafes and Cuban food.

I loved living in Miami

5 Dallas
6 Jackson City

Where and what in the world is Jackson City?

7 Las Vegas Las Vegas, officially the City of Las Vegas and often known simply as Vegas, is the 28th-most populated city in the United States, the most populated city in the state of Nevada, and the county seat of Clark County.

This place is really horrible, I hope people in Las Vegas would reconsider. PLEASE! I can't feel at least safe walking in the streets.

8 San Francisco San Francisco, officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California.

Very expensive.. More expensive than LA.. Maybe even more expensive than Hawaii!

9 Tallahassee
10 Philadelphia Philadelphia is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the sixth-most populous city in the United States, with an estimated population of 1,567,872 and more than 6 million in the seventh-largest metropolitan statistical area, as of 2016. Philadelphia is the economic and cultural anchor of the Delaware Valley region, located along the lower Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers.

Not as convenient as New York City, even though New York City is awful.

A cheap ripoff of New York City.

The Contenders
11 Washington D.C.
12 Chicago Chicago, officially the City of Chicago, is the third-most populous city in the United States. With over 2.7 million residents, it is also the most populous city in both the state of Illinois and the Midwestern United States. Chicago is considered one of the most important business centers in the world. ...read more.

I believe that Chicago is just misunderstood. I mean it has the most gangs in the us and it is the most corrupt. This city is the best. I was born and raised there. Income is great, lifestyle is great. Sure, people make some statements like, "OHHH CHICAGO HAS SO MANY HOMICIDES AND MURDERS" well, that makes no sense. Hb detroit? Hb new orleans? Chicago is basically a normal metropolitan.

13 Phoenix Phoenix is the capital and most populous city of Arizona, with 1,626,000 people. It is also the fifth most populous city in the United States, and the most populous American state capital, and the only state capital with a population of more than one million residents.Phoenix is the anchor of the Phoenix ...read more.
14 San Diego

Yes, its horribly inconvenient to live here.
No matter what, DO NOT MOVE HERE.
You will hate it, hate it, hate it.
Stay exactly where you are now!

15 San Antonio
16 Boston Boston is Massachusetts’ capital and largest city. Founded in 1630, it’s one of the oldest cities in the U.S.

Easily America's most overrated city.

17 Salt Lake City
18 Houston Houston is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Texas and the fourth most populous city in the United States, with a census-estimated population of 2.312 million in 2017. It is the most populous city in the Southern United States and on the Gulf Coast of the United States.

Just an oversized version of Knoxville with more skyscrapers

Can't get anywhere without a car

19 Honolulu Honolulu is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Hawaiʻi. It is an unincorporated part of and the county seat of the City and County of Honolulu along the southeast coast of the island of Oʻahu.

Honolulu is problematic due to the many reasons below:
1. Crappy government
2. Worse traffic system
3. Horrible weather
4. Rampant homelessness
5. Pollution in waters (especially Ala Wai.)
6. TOO MANY GANGS AGH
7. Unmonitored crime EVERYWHERE!
8. Almost guaranteed to get stuff stolen
9. Really, really expensive.
10. Kinda unfriendly and/or discriminative atmosphere.
11. Too much liberal propaganda.
12. Holding up a failing facade.
13. Undermining its' own purpose.
14. Overrated. VERY overrated.
15. Might as well forget about the indoors.
16. The beaches aren't even worth it.
17. Horrible infrastructure
18. Overpopulation level: over 9000.
19. Bugs and pests are EVERYWHERE, you cannot escape it!
20. Corrupt. Corruption case just recently been flooding the news? Check. Many investigations to go? Check.
That's not even all of the reasons. If you can tolerate ALL of that, then..

It sucks because this is all the public sees in it. They don't know about the messed up traffic, or the occasionally screwed up surf. I still don't understand why there's always beach bums. Don't live in Honolulu, unless you are super patient, but even then you can flip out after a while. It really doesn't take much to become super pissed off at Honolulu. Just visit it for a couple days or so and it'll be a decent experience. But moving here is a dick move considering how you're constantly stuck in traffic that makes you want to smash everything.

You have to take a boat/plane to get to another island.

It's better to visit than live in

20 Flint, Michigan

The water is full of metal

21 Seattle Seattle is a seaport city on the west coast of the United States. It is the seat of King County, Washington.

Seattle is a great place to live. Very nice people there. They don't even have the most crowded streets either. There are only a few PARTS of Seattle that are somewhat dangerous, and things like gangs are not very common. Maybe three are there. If anything, Tacoma is worse than seattle. Drug dealers, gangs, tons of racism, homeless people, and most of the houses there are crappy and barely bigger than a classroom. There are a few places there that have good houses and nice neighbourhoods but not many. While Seattle is near Tacoma, it isn't Tacoma. And, yes. People do hate on Seattle a lot, but only because they are trying to demene the best football team in the NFL: The Seahawks. The person who added this is just jealous that their citie's football team sucks ass compared to the seahawks.

I grew up in Seattle- or more accurately was forced to spend most of my childhood in American's most overrated city- and Seattle SUCKS! Lousy weather- and yes it really does rain all the time- and unfriendly people who to this day still whine and cry and complain about the departure of a basketball team SEVEN YEARS AGO does not a great city make.

Definitely the most dangerous and crowded streets in america, at least if its opposite day, don't get why people hate up here in the PNW so much

22 Kansas City

Who wants to worry about getting shot any and everywhere they go?

Very hot summers and cold winters

23 Atlanta Atlanta is the capital and most populous city in the U.S. state of Georgia. With an estimated 2017 population of 486,290, it is also the 38th most-populous city in the United States.

Atlanta is the greatest city on earth! Where do you think Coca Cola comes from?

Georgia is the most underrated place in the U.S.!

24 Austin

>Votes liberal once in a national election
>Suddenly viewed as the San Francisco of Texas

By far the most overrated city in the country.

25 Jersey City, NJ Jersey City is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey. At a population of 264,152, it is the second most populous city in the state and the seventy-seventh most populous city in the United States.

Residents are forced to buy parking stickers just to park their cars in the street, and this includes homeowners who already pay thousands in property taxes. Visitors must purchase parking permits for visits as short as 2 hours... Downtown parking is difficult and more strictly enforced by the parking authority than that of Pyongyang, North Korea... The crime rate is high outside of the downtown area. Rush hour traffic is nightmarish... The residents range from twenty-something Yuppies downtown to the ghetto-dwellers of the Heights and Greenpoint, but both groups are throughly imbued with "Jersey Attitude" (read: they're obnoxious). Run far, run fast!

I hate new jersey, although jersey in the channel islands is quite nice, unlike this hellhole, however, I have found Newark, to be one of the worst places, that I've ever had the misfortune to visit, unfriendly and rude people, perhaps the new jersey devil should gobble them all up.

New Jersey is just a crappy, gross, poor state anyways.
