Strong army once during the comunist regimen, the strongest on the Balkans at that time, an army that half of Europe couldn't have afforded to engage in a war with, but having most of it's millitary equipment scrapped and men force reduced gradually as a condition for NATO membership, because of the economical crisis that appeared after the dissolution of the Soviet Union as the economy of the country no longer was able to provision the army.
Bulgaria has maybe the strongest air force it consists of 3 Mig-29 and some old trash! It also has 30 000 man power armed with AK - 74 and AK - 47! Half of those 30 000 men are drinkers and drug addicts!

Austria has an extremely powerful military for its size. They are actively involved in Kosovo, Lebanon, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Although it is an extremely small country located in the Middle East, it has a great monarchy system and an incredibly strong invincible military (compared to Arab countries of course). The 6 million population of Jordan remain until now the best and most persistent when it comes to protecting one's country. To add to that and wrap it up, it's trade isn't bad at all, in Irbid, many clothes are made/sewed (handmade) and sent to the US and different parts of the world.
