Not to mention sub genre's created solely by the U.S. Funk, Bluegrass, disco (influencing more than you think) Rapp, Hip hop, grunge, garage (with respects to funk, R&B and Rock) and also smooth jazz and fusion. Still no thanks or recognition at all. Other countries borrow and use to create their sound but style and sound itself originated in the U.S of A. Remember that when you listen to Sade, The Police, Queen and any other's. They owe their thanks to Rock, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Disco and so on. Music created in the U.S.. These genres do have standards which one has to follow for it to be in a particular genre or sub genre. Example: Latin Jazz it's a sub genre of Jazz but the Jazz part comes from U.S. Jazz, not matter what country it started in and has to give it's roots to the U.S. Same with anything Rock and Roll based, R&B based, Country based and so on. I Think you get the picture.

Well I live in the U.S. and yes one could say that the entertainment industry has the leading history here and continues to do so. And I also sometimes know what that business can many times represent. Money and greed being the focus not the music as time has moved on. The amount being "Churned" out would be a good word. Quantity has nothing to do with quality. This is for any country not just the U.S. I would have to say what country an artist comes from does not have a large bearing on my music listening either, matters very little. Humans just need to beat their chests and that's a human thing regardless of country. This list somehow saddens me. Just had to say since I should not be returning. I have other more important things to be proud of concerning the particular country of which I have been born. To me music is universal no reason to be boasted about.

3 Germany Germany was formally united in 1871 under the initiative of Bismarck with King Wilhelm of Prussia as emperor. The previous 'Holy Roman Empire', basically a continuation of the empire of Charlemagne/Karl der Grosse was dissolved in 1806... read more

Iconic music; Beethoven, Mozart (technically Austrian, but so was Hitler and nobody remembers that), Back, all the classics. Literally, they created classical music. You could say a country like America has all the famous 'artists' who are popular now, but they won't necessarily be remembered fifty years from now, let alone two-three hundred. pop is the most well known now, and has been for a few decades. but classical music was not only the most popular for hundreds of years, it was some of the only music and defined modern music. Yet even today there are still brilliant composers and bands from Germany like Rammstein and Hans Zimmer.

France should be in top five guys! French music is somewhat unpopular outside France but that doesn't that they don't have great artists. They are in all genres from pop to rap to electro, even metal.

In France music is more an art than in some other countries. The language is perfect to sing and a lot of great songs and classic music are French. The accordion is a sixty years old cliché a lot of DJ like Daft Punk and David Guetta are French. And I only talk about French musicians and no francophone...

They have well-known house artists such has David Guetta, Nicky Romero, and let's not forget about Daft Punk.

6 Ireland Formed in 1916 after the Easter uprising, Ireland is a small country with a population of roughly 5 million.

In terms of the proportion of people in the population who play musical instruments andor sing I reckon Ireland just be near the top. Most people I know either sing, play or have played instruments from childhdood. I haven't come across this in other countries. Where I live, Belfast, there are music sessions of different sorts every night of the week at different venues across the city. I remember reading a book of photographs of Ireland by a French photographer and him commenting, in passing, that he hadn 't realised that the Irish were so music mad.

But Sweden, there live only about 9 million people over there and they still have so much good artists. Hail Sweden, the country of great music, this is the where the best music comes from. From Dead by April to Avicii, from ABBA to Little Dragon and much more, almost impossible to count! So much talent! Go Sweden! Best Music is in Sweden!

I do think a lot of people sleep on how big Sweden is in ghe world of music. As a lot of people has mentioned a lot of the big hits you hear have been written or produced or whatever by a swede but then you have all the bands, in popular mainstream/dance/house music you have the likes of Zara Larsson, Galantis, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Icona Pop, Rebecca & Fiona, Alesso, Axwell & Ingrosso, Vigiland and Otto Knows just to mention a few.

Not only that but Sweden is probably even bigger in the Rock/Metal genres with the likes of Europe, The Hives, Amon Amarth, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Mando Diao, Corroded The Hellacopters, Hardcore Superstar, Ghost, Meshuggah, Mustasch, PAIN, Passenger, Soilwork, Sabaton, Hammerfall, Johnossi and Bathory with list being far from over.

Giovanni Gabrieli, Giacomo Puccini, Paganini, Verdi, Ennio Morricone, Anrea Bocelli, Pavarotti... those are reasons alone that make Italy at least rank 3 together with Germany or the States

Never heard, except maybe the outdated and obese Pavaroti, that's not funk, not fun, not al all.
