Most Overrated Comedians

The Contenders: Page 4

61 Bill Maher Bill Maher William "Bill" Maher is an American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, media critic, and television host.

Actually a pretty funny guy, as long as he has a team of clever writers putting words in his mouth, AND sticks to politics and corporate folly. Where he falls flat on his ass is when he ventures off as an amateur theologian; which is why he tends to pick the least articulate people to debate. It is the straw-man fallacy by "casting" and editing.

Watched his live in dc special on hbo. Highest rated hbo stand-up special in five years. Are you serious... I didn't laugh once except for some crowd heckling of him. Which was actually funny. Should of watched on mute because at least he looks awkward and full. My trying to do stand-up. Stick to your scripted written for you show maher you suck. I won't watch you again unless I'm looking to get depresses.

Big whiney baby. He is unfunny and relies on humorless 50s Mr. drivel to make "jokes". He does political shows just to spout what he has decided everyone should do in this planet to cater to him. He flip flops on politics all the time - and not in some thoughtful I learned something new so I changed my mind kind of way. He just says whatever he thinks in the moment that will impress whatever idiots will go to his show. He has no integrity, no class, and no wit.

He si quite stupid and seems like a pretentious fundamentalist

62 Mitch Hedberg Mitch Hedberg Mitchell Lee "Mitch" Hedberg was an American stand-up comedian known for his surreal humor and unconventional comedic delivery.

Very sad that he died. Super entertaining and funny. If you are saying he was not funny, you never saw him.

At first, I couldn't stand his delivery. But, then I started to "hear" the jokes. Not sure if he would've just plateaued though

Um...this is a travesty. I realize not everyone likes everyone, but Mitch is a genius. Love him.

Is he funny? Yes. Is he overrated? Yes. Good but not as great as people think.

63 David Spade David Spade

I love him. He is greatness!

Shouldn't even be considered a comic. Even SNL run was uninspired.

Retarded Midwestern Minnesotan humorless idiot wit napoleon complex, how attractive! and now he's fat too.

64 Dana Carvey Dana Carvey Dana Thomas Carvey is an American actor and stand-up comedian known for his work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and for playing the role of Garth Algar in the Wayne's World films.

Love him bunches

This guy needs to be higher on this list. He's horrible.

OVERRATED sould be number one the church lady wasn't even funny and art was even less funny.

65 Gallagher

Say what you will about Carlin, Pryor, Murphy, etc... Those men sold out arenas, commanded attention and are largely revered. They're also dead/not working. Gallagher (both of them) is stand up's equivalent to the circus that trucks into your local walmart parking lot every July.

He needs to be higher on list. Smashing fruit to distract from bad jokes is pitiful!

An out of touch old racist whose career can be easily summed up with an image of a sledge hammer and some fruit.

66 Jimmy Carr Jimmy Carr James Anthony Patrick "Jimmy" Carr is an English stand-up comedian, television host and actor, known for his signature laugh, deadpan delivery, dark humour, and use of edgy one-liners.

Carr is a witty one liner sort of comedian, he does everything he can to make his shows as offensive as possible he has a couple of good jokes but overall, not that great!

Fearless and funny.

Noteworthy for having an effortlessly punchable face, for large scale tax evasion (allegedly) and a laugh like a walrus gargling with penguin entrails.

67 Louis C.K. Louis C.K. Louis Székely, known professionally as Louis C.K., is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, and editor.

A friend of mine had me watch his stand up. I cracked a smile at the some of the things he said, but to be honest, the guy is more of a social commentator than a comedian. He tries to come off as some stereotypical everyman but in actuality, the guy is so beyond unfunny I don't even know where to start.

He's alright, but I'm so tired of hearing people say he's one of the best of a time. He's alright. He isn't "edgy" like everybody says he is. He just isn't that good. He's a really average comedian.

His jokes aren't so much jokes as they are just a mate trying to embellish a mundane story at the pub. The fact people say he's hilarious baffles me.

Yes he is a funny guy but there is no way he is that funny, though when I look today's comedians I guess he is good for this time, but in general when you look to history of comedy he is just an another comedian he is not from monty python or something which people act like he is.

68 Ellen DeGeneres Ellen DeGeneres

I have never laughed at anything she's said. Full of herself, shows no emotion, and that's meant to be funny? The ridiculous screaming crowd on her talk show doesn't help either. Nor do the guests who thank her for giving them money etc. and act as if they weren't expecting it. Come on, as if it's her money being spent. Why on earth is she thought of as generous when I doubt that any of the gifts she gives and takes credit for on her show actually come from her?

She just acts like an idiot. There are plenty of idiots out there who will work for a lot less.

She used to be funny when her humor was so unexpected, but not for a long time.

Dikes love her! And her stupid dancing that she tries to make her signature trademark

She is just boring I don't know who would find her funny other then bitter ass women

She is just horrible slept her way to where she is but her whole style of comedy is boring or just lame! I hate to talk to the people that think she is funny

Lame and half conscious throughout the show. Cringe worthy programming

You know you're not funny or talented when you have to post nude photos of yourself to get attention

70 Denis Leary Denis Leary

Worst popular comedian I have ever seen. Beyond the act he molded from copying his more talented peers, hammering the audience with faux edgy and righteous temperment, his material was low grade simpleton fodder. "I'm an Ass"? Yes sir, we are finally in agreement.

Definitely not my type of comedy.

He did stand-up? Right.

Routine thief. 9-11 tap-in to fame. He got some money and fame and acts like he deserves it.

71 Conan O'Brien Conan O'Brien

I don't know why so many people think he's so funny. He's more obnoxious than anything else. And seems like kind of an ass. He is definitely given too much credit.

I don't get him. The funniest thing about him seems to be his hair. He never makes me laugh. How did he get a show?

I don't think of him as a comedian. He was a very funny comedic writer.

Don't like his political stance but come on... Conan is easiest the most funny talk show host. His timing is really good and his bits with Jordan Schlansky kill!

72 Russell Brand Russell Brand

The only thing impressive he will ever do in his life is bang Katie Perry. Now he the rest of the world should dump him as well. Or at least hold him down and shave his nasty hair.

Just a joke. Garbage. Not remotely funny, even from a "British" mindset

Hate to rain on the parade but he ditched Katy (not the other way around).

I love him! He's hilarious and has fantastic command over the English language!

73 Steve Harvey Steve Harvey Broderick Stephen Harvey, known professionally as Steve Harvey, is an American comedian, television host, producer, radio personality, actor, and author.

He is overrated. Stand up is so old fashion and dry. The only thing funny about him is that porn mustache

He tries a little too hard to be funny and it kind of gets a little irritating.

Looks like a scary pumpkin, and sets the black race back 200 years

Sorry..I just think he depends too much on what other people say..then makes funny faces.

74 Frankie Boyle Frankie Boyle Francis Martin Patrick "Frankie" Boyle is a Scottish comedian and writer, well known for his pessimistic and often controversial sense of humour.

One of the funniest people on the planet! And barely mentioned in the present day. He shouldn't be here at all. - PositronWildhawk

Frankie Boyle is amazing he should not be on this list!

I agree. You won't find a wittier or funnier man on the planet except maybe Billy Connolly.

75 Marc Maron

Currently watching his show haha love him

76 Steven Wright Steven Wright Steven Alexander Wright is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and an Oscar-winning film producer.

This guy is funny. He truly has his own style, its dark and depressing, but its uniquely his.

Very, very funny man.

Brilliant, that is, when he raises his voice above a mutter.

77 Kumial Nanjiani

Stand-up about your cat shouldn't be considered comedy

Why in the world has the media been shoving this guy in our face? What's so special about him?

I want to worship this guy most days

78 Norm Macdonald Norm Macdonald

So desperate, you could pay him 5 bucks to wash your car and call it a comedy.

As funny as any Comedian who ever lived. Hilarious on SNL. Will tackle anything or anyone.

79 Jim Gaffigan Jim Gaffigan James Christopher "Jim" Gaffigan is an American stand-up comedian, actor, voice-over artist, and author.

Gaffigan is amazing. I like him for the same reasons I like Brian Regan. His clean, non-offensive material is what I appreciate about him, not that I am an easily offended person. I appreciate comedians that can make people laugh without swearing and offending people because it requires much more thought and talent.

If you like fat, bland, borderline retarded thought-process "jokes", here's your champion! "And go buy a Chrysler minivan, you dumb fat Americans"! Total garbage.

There are a lot of comedians who aren't funny, but this guy makes takes utter failure and cranks it up to eleven. Flatly, I've never seen a comedian who failed to entertain me more than Jim Gaffigan. If you want bad timing, flat punchlines, poor delivery and flat out brain-numbing stupidity, this is your guy.

I've personally never liked Jim Gaffigans stand up.
