Most Overrated Countries

The Contenders: Page 2

21 Germany Germany Germany was formally united in 1871 under the initiative of Bismarck with King Wilhelm of Prussia as emperor. The previous 'Holy Roman Empire', basically a continuation of the empire of Charlemagne/Karl der Grosse was dissolved in 1806. more.

East and west Germany still have some gaps, the west is slightly more developed than the east.

Germany may has some nice place to visit, unfortunately I find many places in Germany to be kind of boring.

German national sport team is an INTERNATIONAL INTERRACIAL JOKE. Who score your goals? Podolski, Gomez and EL Arabi? Are you kidding me?
I saw some gymnastics team 5 girls none of them German, most Russians... What''s the Point?
Same with athletics... Most of your sportsman are nationalised foreigners.
It is so easy to win golds if you have 20 Africans in your team... Go search for your dignity Germany - majkel87

22 Egypt Egypt Egypt, officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a transcontinental country spanning the northeast corner of Africa and southwest corner of Asia, via a land bridge formed by the Sinai Peninsula.

Don't even think of visiting Egypt. I've visited it before the revolution. If you're a foreigner even if an Arab, Egyptians will try to rob you in all possible ways. Sexual harassments are notorious here and are annoying, needless to say. The trip to the Pyramids of Giza is not as fancy or dreamy as it seems on Egyptian T.V. ads. The streets can be overcrowded and beggars will follow you everywhere and to make it worse, shopkeeprs near the pyramids will insist on giving you fake discounts even if you don't want to buy. Stick to hotel restaurants and don't even think of eating anything from the streets. You also don't want to give a tip to one hotel staff as plenty of others will come and walk beside you in desperate hope of receiving a tip. Also, once you step in the airport get ready for beggars(janitors working in the airport will ask you for money) and annoying smell. I seriously don't know what the hell was I thinking when I thought of visiting Egypt. It is a nice place but the ...more

The pyramids of Gaza are noisy and the inside looks like a cow shed.

23 Mexico Mexico
24 Ireland Ireland Formed in 1916 after the Easter uprising, Ireland is a small country with a population of roughly 5 million.

Ireland must be the most overrated country ever - the weather is obviously dreadful, but more importantly the Irish are by no means any nicer or brighter than Brits or Yanks. Quite to the contrary, even though they indeed tend to be a simple, jolly folk, more often than not they are also ignorant and downright backward especially in comparison with their contemporaries in the Western Europe

Completely agree. I found the majority of the Irish rude and lacking in good communication skills. They mumble a lot, talk fast, talk quietly, and don't finish sentences. I thought their speech patterns were difficult to understand.

Loads of drunk young women and men that want to escape the sheer dreadfulness of this place. A culture revolving around one overrated awful tasting stout: Guinness! Enough said!

The dullest and most boring country I've ever been to

25 Russia Russia Russia, known as the "Russian Federation", was formed on Dec 25, 1991. It is located mainly in Asia, while a portion of it remains in Europe. The capital and largest city is Moscow, followed by Saint Petersburg in terms of population. The country primarily speaks Russian, a Slavic language. more.

"Russians are so tough", "Russia is so cool" etc. Let me tell you, Russia is taking all the pride from rest of Eastern Europe. Polish, Ukrainians, Serbians and others are the same as Russians. Maybe even better. Those Russian stereotypes like their strength, bravery etc. Are basically taken from other slavic countries. Russians are not the strongest. Russians are not tough. I live in an area with a fairly big Eastern European community. Mainly dominated by Russians and Polish peoples, and believe me Polish people can kick some ass. Russians seem to be small. They just take other slavic peoples pride because they have the biggest country and population of slavs.

The most overrated Country in the World. Especially after the disgracement 2014 Olympics women's figure skating competition, when the Russians gaved a OK amateur the Olympic Gold medal instead of the Queen of skating, Yuna Kim. That was ridiculous judging and home style cooking!

I agree with this, also Russia took the Muslim Crimean Tatars land from them!

26 Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia, officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is an Arab state in Western Asia (Middle east) constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula. The official Language is Arabic The capital city is Riyadh.

This country is extremely bigoted towards non Muslims and women. They supply funds and weapons to terrorist and the laws there are crazy

Never go to Saudi, simply the worst country on Earth.

KSA is nice place please go there and you will see it's better then Iran

One of the worst countries anyone could ever visit and yes I am an Arab from the Gulf and yes I am a Muslim. If I wasn't a Muslim, I wouldn't even think of visiting Saudi. Its people are rude, mean and treat you like... Even if you are an Arab from a neighboring country. They are all full of themselves for god knows what! The only reason why I went there is because of Mecca and Medina, where the prophet pbuh lays. The laws are so backwards and dull. Everything is banned! Before going there, everyone talked about the abundance of shopping malls there but they were rather causal and plus who wants to travel for shopping malls only? >
The only good thing is the abduncade of plenty of restaurants, catering to all tastes

27 Austria Austria Austria was Celtic (Hallstadt) then as Noricum, part of the Roman Empire, Alaric, who took over Rome, studied at a monastery near Vienna. In the Middle Ages, the Holy Roman Emperors moved to Vienna, then Austria became separate. Medieval documents from Eastern Europe as far as West Ukraine were often more.

Often mistaken for Australia, which is often why it's so popular. - booklover1

28 Greece Greece Greece, officially the Hellenic Republic, also known since ancient times as Hellas is a country located in southeastern Europe.

Ancient Greece is over let it go, Greece now is a dump.

29 Liechtenstein

Do anybody even know where this place is?

30 Switzerland Switzerland Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a federal republic in Europe . It consists of 26 cantons, and the city of Bern is the seat of the federal authorities . more.

There is a prediction that Switzerland is going not to be so rich as before.

Arguably one of the most beautiful countries with the highest quality of life anywhere besides somewhere like Monaco. However, the Switzerland is one of the most utterly dull and mundane nations on Earth. Taking a ride on the rail through Switzerland, passing stunning views of the Alps and pristine lakes, walking alongside Lake Zürich, and seeing the Old City of Bern are all exhilarating experiences. However, actually living a Swiss life in Switzerland with Swiss people is another story. Switzerland epitomizes the idea that a perfect life is not actually desirable. That is not to say that there are not people who would desire such a life but those people would most likely already be Swiss, as their culture is very closed and unwelcoming. It may be consistently ranked as one of the best places to live...but for Swiss people and not everyone in general.

A bunch of cold schizophrenic folk! A lot of Swiss Germans are Möchtegernefranzosen, but obviously can't since they lack the friendliness and classiness of the Swiss French or the French generally! Stay away from this overly expensive piece of land! Go for Austria, France or Italy if you want a positive alpine experience!

31 Turkey Turkey Turkey was established on October 29th, 1923. It is located in Westernmost Asia or Southeastern Europe. more.

Actually and despite the fame Turkey is still underrated! I have never encountered such a beauty. The ancient ruins in Ephesus will captivate you till eternity and the monastery of Sumela in the Eastern part of the country will keep you mesmerized. The country is rich in terms of history and culture. A walk down the streets of Istanbul, Izmir and Bursa is a step back in time. The country offers whatever you're looking for. The food is excellent and the people are very helpful despite the fact the vast majority cannot speak English or any other language but Turkish and sometimes German. I especially fell in love with the scene of approaching Istanbul's Islamic city on a ferry. I honestly cannot stop loving this country

I feel bad for saying this, but this is the worst country I've ever been to.

Well going there in a few days...can't wait

32 Philippines Philippines The Philippines was established in March 16, 1521 and named in honor of a Spanish King whose name is King Philip of Spain II. It is located at Asia, specifically at Southeast Asia. The capital is Manila. 89% of the people there currently are native, while 11% of people there are foreigners.

The Filipinos there are rude when it comes with foreigners. However, it should be higher because of several reasons:

People - people there are half-witted, anti-intellect, and sometimes technophobic. There are poorer communities that practice child abuse due to poverty.

Government - the politics there is pathetic. It's pointless to blame the government for the people's faults. Also, they barely improve the country and are rendered corrupt all the way down.

Environment - It's not enough to clean up everything. Manila is considered to be the most polluted city to live in. Too much air and water pollution. Also, people let their dogs go anywhere in the streets (which is why people get their shoes stinky), and there is no sort of cleaning project by the government.

Media - Philippine media is so overrated. Very low quality and awful advertising. Also, it should be illegal for Filipinos to dub foreign shows and movies because they do not give credits to the ...more

I have an opinion for the Philippines. This should be higher.

- Obsolete firearms
- Obsolete technology
- Careless government
- Messed up streets
- Anti-intellect citizens
- Prone to calamities
- Overrated media
- Overpriced products
- Squatter people

Philippine's media are too overrated than other things in the Philippines

There is just a lot of overrated places

34 Slovakia Slovakia
35 Romania Romania Romania is a sovereign state located in Southeastern Europe It borders the Black Sea, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia, and Moldova. It has an area of 238,391 square kilometres and a temperate-continental climate. With over 19 million inhabitants, the country is the seventh-most-populous member state more.
36 Brazil Brazil Brazil, officially the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in both South America and the Latin American region.

I'm Brazilian and I agree 100%, the country is highly overrated, first of all Brazilians aren't friendly and tolerant as the media says, a lot of Brazilians are extremely homophobic and racist but they deny it.

The country is also unbearably religious, you go everywhere and listen to gospel Christians songs everywhere and it seems to be getting worse by day, if you aren't Christian basically you're disliked by the majority of the population, specially if you're an atheist or belong to an Afro-Brazilian religion.

I'd say Rio is by far the most overrated destination in the country, basically high crime rates everywhere not only in the city but in the whole state., Also Brazilians aren't warm, they pretend to be warm but talk rudely about you behind your back.

Brazilians have a very jealous culture, everyone is jealous of everybody here, if own an iPhone people will hate you, if you have a fit body people will hate you, basically Brazilians think they're inferior to ...more

Everybody is a criminal in theís country LOL

37 Iran Iran Iran, also known as Persia, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a sovereign state in Western Asia.

Iran is a fascinating country with a glorious past and very friendly people. Nevertheless and despite the fact the media tries hard to show Iran as a country of terrorists and bogeymen, there are travel books and T.V. shows that describe Iran as one of the most beautiful countries anyone could ever visit; in reality though it is far for being a heaven on earth. The whole place is overrated. The streets are overcrowded and ugly concrete blocks are everywhere! Many of the historical sites I have always dreamed of visiting were a big disappointment because there was not much to see, many of the sites were closed. The famous river of Isfahan was dry at the time I visited and it was a big disappointment cause surprisingly enough this river was one of the major reasons why I wanted to visit Isfahan. Shiraz which is famous for its gardens and roses was strikingly ugly. Its celebrated parks are overrated and I have seen much more beautiful parks elsewhere. I don't think I want visit Iran ...more

Iran is an exotic country that will simply put you in absolute awe. It is a fascinating land that has its own culture, traditions and heritage; that is neither east or west but rather uniquely Persian. It is an exotic country full of captivating monuments and architectural treasures. Iran is an open-air museum, every inch of the country has a story to tell. The classic cities of Isfahan, Yazd and Shiraz might be the main non-religious tourist attractions in the country but small villages like Kashan and Abyaneh are the ones that kept me mesmerized. I especially fell in love with the country when I was in the ancient village of Abyaneh. It is where little have changed ever since it was built some 3,000 years ago. Kashan on the other land is an oasis paradise. A town that prides itself on housing excellent architecture like the Safavid palaces and mosques as well as UNESCO-registered flowering gardens. Persepolis is one of the best historical sights I have ever seen, despite the fact ...more

Persia is the best!

Iran is too stupid making every country hate it

38 New Zealand New Zealand

Not a good place to live. Poor infrastructure and low employment opportunities, houses are substandard too compared to other developed nations.

Nothing special about New Zealand. You can find better Mountains in Canada and Switzerland, better glaciers in Norway, better green scenery in all of Europe (especially Ireland) and better beaches in Australia. Add to that NZ is an incredibly boring place. New Zealand = Way Overrated.

More boring than Switzerland, and that's saying something.

39 South Korea South Korea South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea, is a sovereign state in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula.

40 Portugal Portugal Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic, is a country on the Iberian Peninsula, in Southwestern Europe.
