Most Overrated Metal Songs

These are those kind of truly overrated songs that are really bad but still are really popular.
The Top Ten
1 Chop Suey! - System of a Down

I like System of a down and I like Chop Suey, but I agree this song is overrated.

15 Songs better than chop suey.

Holy Mountains
Forest
Deer Dance
B.Y.O.B.
Toxicity
Cigaro
Sugar
P.L.U.C.K.
Innervision
IEAIAIO
Tentative
Hypnotize
Dreaming
Attack
Needles

This song shouldn't be here. I've said it a lot of times, that this song doesn't fall under any genre of metal. Very far from metal.

Defiantly deserves to be Number 1 its not even Metal its to Punkish to be called Metal

2 Psychosocial - Slipknot

Its good but sheesh is it mad overrated like I don't understand. I like at least 20 songs from them more

3 Enter Sandman - Metallica

Whoever calls this song a pop song is nothing but a MAJOR POSER. Just cause Enter Sandman is in the pop mainstream doesn't make it a pop song. Enter Sandman is a Mainstream metal song but just cause its in the Mainstream doesn't make it any less metal and lets not even mention that Metallica was the founder of Thrash metal (aka the greatest metal genre ever). But I will admit that Enter Sandman is a very overrated Metallica song, I mean there's a lot better ones out there like; Whom the Bells Toll, Creeping Death, Call of Cthulu, and even a song IN THE SAME ALBUM that's far better than Enter Sandman (or even the other three I mentioned) Wherever I May Roam. Wherever I May Roam is always seeming to be overshadowed by Enter Sandman when it's FAR better than it and also Enter Sandman seems to be the only Metallica song that everyone pays attention too! I mean it's a great song but it's way overrated considering how much better all their other songs r. -Avery

4 Paranoid - Black Sabbath

This Is second overrated metal song ever, after Judas Priest's Breaking The law.
The lyrics are good, but I don't find anything good on this

Yeah, not even metal song!

5 Hail to the King - Avenged Sevenfold

They have so many better songs like Remenissions, Natural Born Killers and The Stage.

6 Master of Puppets - Metallica

Don't get me wrong, I like this song and I love Metallica, but there are just better songs on the album (Disposable Heroes, Leper Messiah) and there are way better Metallica songs (Fade To Black, And Justice For All, The Outlaw Torn). Apart from James' solo, it just sounds like a generic thrash song to me. Sorry Metalica fans.

People act like this is the greatest song of all time, making Stairway to Heaven look like crap, and I'm just sitting here knowing that this isn't even the best Metallica song, or even the best from the album. I even made a blog post about 5 out of many songs better than this.

Agreed, this song isn't bad song. It's a very good song. But it looks like this song is permanently attached on top of the "best metal song chart". While there are other better metal songs that this.

7 Down with the Sickness - Disturbed
8 Through the Fire and Flames - Dragonforce

This song, band as well, are killing Power Metal. Can it just go away forever in a deep dark hole like Shrek's ass?

This is fairly tame in comparison to Fury of the Storm, Dragonforce has better songs.

9 Hammer Smashed Face - Cannibal Corpse

Chop Suey and Before I Forget are not overrated songs

10 Raining Blood - Slayer

This is without question the most overrated in my book. Not even that good. I'm convinced that 90% of the people who claim this song & this album are the greatest ever, do so because they think they're supposed to, not because they really believe it. Same goes for Holy Wars.

Good song, but there are much more heavier songs than this.

Who cares if some songs are heavier

The Contenders
11 Walk - Pantera

Most of famous Pantera songs are heavier and has more groove.
Honeslty, skip the solo and you got an average track. Sick how nostaligia and commercial success can make a good but not great song mythic.

There are plenty of Pantera songs that are better than this song.

12 Before I Forget - Slipknot

Slipknot in general is overrated

13 Ten Thousand Fists - Disturbed
14 Jekyll and Hyde - Five Finger Death Punch
15 Holy Wars... the Punishment Due - Megadeth

Lots of Megadeth songs I like better than this one, yet it seems to always top the list of everyones favorites. It has good riffs and soloing in some spots but everything seems scattered, incomplete, and not very memorable to me.

16 Breaking the Law - Judas Priest

This. It doesn't even have solo, verse and chorus are Boring and it's still one of the most known songs of JP

17 Angel of Death - Slayer
18 Nothing Else Matters - Metallica

Not really a metal song at all, more like a Power Ballad.
But yeah, Metallica have made better songs than this one but even their good songs don't stand a chance towards anything off "The Beast" by legendary Death metal band Vader or "Turn Loose The Swans" by My Dying Bride. Both of which are absolutely FANTASTIC albums and eat Metallica for dinner.

Not really a metal song, but this one is so cheesy and it just drags. Metallica have made so much better songs.

The most famous metallica song besides Enter sandman. It's not even that good

19 You've Got Another Thing Comin' - Judas Priest

Breaking the Law,Victim of Changes and Painkiller are way, way,WAY more overrated

20 The Diary of Jane - Breaking Benjamin
21 Bring Me to Life - Evanescence

It's a good song and all, but it's not metal

22 Painkiller - Judas Priest

This one defines metal! After almost 28 years, it's so heavy!

Beyond The Realms Of Death it's the best song by JP not this overrated noisy scamp.

This isn't overrated!

23 One - Metallica

No masterpiece. Overrated near-garbage with a half-decent solo at the beginning, which is run into the ground by being played half a million times (one of the band's biggest problems), good lyrics, but absolutely terrible to listen to. Anyone who likes this song must also be a fan of old rap, for their disagreement with my musical motto, "I don't care if Shakespeare took years to write it, if it sounds like crap, it sounds like crap."

One is very overrated. The solo isn't that good and the bass was turned down. The chorus is bland and the transition from soft to heavy was terrible. It was just a copy of Welcome Home(Sanitarium) and Fade to Black. The song isn't that good. It doesn't deserve the huge amount of respect it gets.

I would agree with the visitor before, but being an old fan rap for liking this song isn't true at all. Metallica brought a lot of thought and work into this song. The build up is very well done and the lyrics are one their best ever. The only thinks I don't like about One are the muted bass and the mix of the drums. It is in that way overrated, but it still isn't as much overrated as much as Master Of Puppets or Enter Sandman.
I respect the visitors opinions, but I think this song deserved their praise.

24 Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden

I like the lyrics but the structure and chorus just sound commercial and cookie cutter compared to most of their other songs.

25 Wait and Bleed - Slipknot
