Most Overrated Songs by Popular Music Artists That Wrote Better Songs

These music artists are famous for songs that did not define them. They did write music that is good but was drowned out by the songs that used less effort.

The Top Ten

1 Hey Jude - The Beatles

I don’t like this song. - Userguy44

2 Wonderwall - Oasis

Sugonese hairy nuts

I literally cannot stand this song, or the fact that Oasis has written much BETTER songs than this, but nobody knows them because they think of this whenever they think of Oasis! What the hell is wrong with everybody who thinks that songs like "Some Might Say", "Fade In-Out" & "Roll With It" are inept, instead turning their heads towards this stupid song?!?! It's effortless and uninspired, just accept it!

3 Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

Whilst a great song, I think come as you was better.

Heart-shaped Box is my favorite - shawnmccaul22

Good song but people overlook bleach and in utero which had some of nirvana's best work, incesticide was great too

4 We Will Rock You - Queen

This song is a song that's good live and not really good anywhere else - DCfnaf

Replace this with Bohemian Rhapsody - Userguy44

5 Enter Sandman - Metallica
6 Loser - Beck
7 November Rain - Guns N' Roses
8 Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis

Wonderwall is the overrated one not this. - Userguy44

9 Paradise - Coldplay

Honestly I think this is THE BEST Coldplay SONG EVER - TopTenListmaker

10 Creep - Radiohead

The Newcomers

? Stayin' Alive - Bee Gees

The Contenders

11 Should I Stay or Should I Go? - The Clash
12 Valerie - The Zutons
13 (What a) Wonderful World - Sam Cooke

Just wanted to point out that this is the actual title for that "Don't know much about history" song. Definitely not to be confused with the unrelated Louis Armstrong song "What A Wonderful World".

14 Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2 - Pink Floyd
15 Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

I just don't see how anyone could think of this as one of the best songs ever! What are they all thinking, for crying out loud?!

I hate this song as much as a person who likes it hates logic. - PositronWildhawk

I hate this comment just as much as a person who likes it loves music snobbery. - DCfnaf

16 God Only Knows - The Beach Boys
17 Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day

Green Day has more overrated songs than this one. - Userguy44

18 Call and Answer - Barenaked Ladies
19 Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade
20 Love the Way You Lie - Eminem
21 Sunday Morning - The Velvet Underground

This is one of the only songs from this band I actually like lmao - DCfnaf

I used to like this, but I now I just find it boring - RecklessGreed

Personally, I think Heroin is much better. - SwagFlicks

22 Still Into You - Paramore

It's a good song, but I've heard better from them nonetheless.

23 Born in the U.S.A. - Bruce Springsteen
24 The Guns of Brixton - The Clash
25 Don't Worry, Be Happy - Bobby McFerrin
26 Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden
27 Buddy Holly - Weezer
28 Hymn for the Weekend - Coldplay
29 Plush - Stone Temple Pilots
30 How Deep Is Your Love - The Bee Gees
31 Love Shack - The B-52's

Possibly the B-52s' worst hit. I hope they're as sick of singing this mediocre song over and over as I am of hearing it.

32 Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles

The worst Beatles song, without any doubt

33 Shape of You - Ed Sheeran

I hate this song! - Userguy44

Out of all the Ed Sheeran songs that could be overplayed, why this one? If your going to overplay a Ed Sheeran song, overplay The A Team, End Game, Perfect, Castle on The Hill, Thinking Out Loud, Everything Has Changed, or Galway Girl. (Take note, Mix 96.5.)

In my opinion, Ed Sheehan is a decent artist, but this is definitely his worst song. It's overplayed, generic and meaningless. The rest of the album from what I've heard so far is pretty good though. - 3DG20

Sheeran*

Sorry, autocorrect keeps changing it. - 3DG20

34 Champagne Supernova - Oasis
35 Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy - Queen
36 Dancing In the Dark - Bruce Springsteen
37 L.S.F. - Kasabian
38 Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell
39 Money for Nothing - Dire Straits
40 Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles

What the hell were they thinking?! Were they thinking at all?!

41 Girls On Film - Duran Duran

Great song and video.

42 Bike - Pink Floyd
43 Stan - Eminem
44 Evacuate the Dancefloor - Cascada

I love Cascada but I (don't be offended) have tried so hard to like this song, but I just can't. I understand it's appeal but I personally don't like it.

45 Starlight - Muse
46 Master of Puppets - Metallica
47 Roam - B-52's
48 She Blinded Me with Science - Thomas Dolby
49 Blowing in the Wind - Bob Dylan
50 Rock the Casbah - The Clash
