Most Reconizable Video Game Characters

The Top Ten
1 Mario Mario, originally named Jumpman, is the main character of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, created by the creative director and video game designer at Nintendo of Japan, Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario has appeared in almost every Mario game, including games in spin-off series as a playable character, with few exceptions including New Super Luigi U, Luigi's Mansion games, Yoshi's Island games, and similar counterparts. He is the most iconic character in video game history and is Nintendo's unofficial mascot. His franchise has grown to be the most successful video game franchise of all time.

Mario, pac man, rayman, sonic, samus, link, and other people are iconic but Mario is more iconic than everybody else everybody knows Mario he is so famous he has like everything to lunchboxs with Mario wallpaper toys pillows cloths and a lot of stuff Mario is very iconic

Who doesn't know mario? who anyone I even went to countries like Kenya and other poor countries in Africa where THEY can't AFFORD TO EVEN BUY A NINTENDO OR A PHONE OR HAVE ACCES TO INTERNET AND THEY KNOW WHO MARIO IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TVs Everyone knows mario but everyone should know mario because mario is great!

Of course mario its funny my mom has this new Mexican boyfriend and I was playing mario party I played for a long time then mario came out of nowhere then he said "Es Mario!?! I started cracking up

I suppose some people may think Pac-man should be first because he's been around longer, is more simplistic, and it seems that everyone knows him. I'm better with Mario though

2 Pac-man Pac-Man is the protagonist fictional character of the franchise of the same name by Namco, who was first introduced in the Japanese arcade game Pac-Man on May 22, 1980 in Japan, later released in the United States in October the same year.

You can see it in every place: He's yellow, a circle, and only say "waka waka", he's even in the pizza, what else can I say? Is the most reconizable video game character of all time

He should be higher than Mario. He's basically everywhere. In fact, he's probably is the most recognizable game character in the world.

Pac Man is known by everyone no matter what you are... My cat even said yeah I know what a pac man is now what do you want

I have to say something? I knew about Pac Man in kintergarden. I wasn't even playing video games yet!

3 Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog, trademarked Sonic The Hedgehog, is the title character and protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series released by SEGA, as well as numerous spin-off comics, five animated shows, and an animated OVA.

According to a poll Sonic was found to be more recognizable for a lot of people than Mickey Mouse.

Everybody in the world knows Sonic, whether they play games or not. How is he not higher?

Even if you're living under a rock, you know sonic the ' hedgehog. It's a scientific fact.

How can you not recognize Sonic? He is a blue hedgehog for crying out loud!

4 Link - Legend of Zelda Link refers to several different incarnations of the same protagonist of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series.

Well I guess you could say that if you do see Link you are probably going to know who he is.
I think it's because of the way he looks, everyone who sees him is like "Oh! Look it's that guy in the wreid green Peter Pan outfit! " But Link is not as recognisable as people like Mario though.

Honestly, Mario is probably the most recognizable character, but it seems unfair to vote for him since it's obvious. How did Soap make it above Link?

5 Sean Devlin

Brown flatcap, light brown shirt, dark brown jacket, green trousers and brown boots. That's what Sean Devlin wears when he isn't disguised as one of the Nazis.

Just to clarify, this character is from The Saboteur (look it up it's on Playstation)

The video game world's favourite Irish saboteur.

6 Soap MacTavish - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Series

I don't play Call of Duty at all so... Yep! But Soap McTavish id rwally reconizable.

His Mowhawk hair style and Scottish brogue accent is what makes him recognisable among his East London S.A. S collegues.

7 Captain Price - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Series Captain John Price is a main fictional character in the Call of Duty series, being one of three characters to be featured in all of the games in the Modern Warfare series, the others being Captain John "Soap" MacTavish and Nikolai.
8 Cole Phelps - L.A. Noire

The whole game is pretty much a who's who of Mad Men actors. If you are a fan of Mad Men you'd recognize Cole Phelps quicker than anyone else.

9 Donkey Kong Donkey Kong is an arcade game released by Nintendo in 1981. It is an early example of the platform game genre, as the gameplay focuses on maneuvering the main character across a series of platforms while dodging and jumping over obstacles.

And I hear someone has been adding MK characters in.

This is the MOST RECONIZABLE, not the most awesome

Anyone for some kool-aid? (except for whoever added Mileena in. Man, she sucks)

Dixie Kong and Mario are 1 and 61 of most reconizable characters and Donkey Kong is 11 like my age. I love Donkey Kong, but everyone else hates him for when he got scorn for stupid damm Bowser. Biotch.

10 Bowser Jr. Bowser Jr., or sometimes simply Jr., is a video game character who appears in Nintendo's Mario franchise as the secondary antagonist. He is the youngest son of the series' primary antagonist, Bowser.
The Contenders
11 Lara Croft Lara Croft is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Square Enix video game franchise Tomb Raider.

14 Zero - Mega Man

He's the best robot ever!

15 Pikachu - Pokemon Pikachu (Japanese: ピカチュウ) are a species of Pokémon, fictional creatures that appear in an assortment of video games, animated television shows and movies, trading card games, and comic books licensed by The Pokémon Company, a Japanese corporation. A mascot of the Pokemon franchise, it's considered to be the most iconic character of all Pokemon species, as well as a major character in Japanese pop culture, due to its companionship with Ash Ketchum in the anime series. Pikachu has been featured in movies such as Pokemon Detective Pikachu as well as music videos - most notably Katy Perry's "Electric" in 2021.

I have met very, very few people who don't know who Pikachu is. Even people who aren't into Pokemon know Pikachu. I can't even TELL you how many times I've asked, "Do you like Pokemon? " and the person would answer, "Oh... Like that Pikachu guy? "... In conclusion, I honestly think Pikachu should be higher.

Oh come on Pikachu deserves better

16 Mega Man Mega Man, known as Rockman in Japan, is the title character and the protagonist of the Mega Man series by Capcom.
17 Luigi Luigi, originally a palette swap of Mario named Green Mario, is a major character featured in video games and related media released by Nintendo. Created by prominent game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Luigi is portrayed as the slightly younger, taller fraternal twin brother of Nintendo's unofficial mascot Mario, and appears in many games throughout the Super Mario franchise, often as a sidekick to his brother.

I put Luigi on this list because I just finished putting the Boo and I thought why isn't Luigi up higher on the list!

Who put him here? Only a few people outside the gaming industry know him
