Top 10 Most Talented Rock N Roll Bands

The Top Ten
1 Led Zeppelin

These four men were seasoned musicians before the band formed. Give credit to all four members of Led Zeppelin to understand how their individual skills could meld into a unified sound that no person has ever heard before and will never hear again. They tinkered with sound equipment, explored sound of different cultures in their respective nature. Plant, Page, Jones and Bonham mastered resonance, bass, musical symmetry in their instruments and in foreground and background vocals. No need for technology. They used their raw talent and worked within the constraints of the sound equipment to CREATE. They were not fazed by their limitations. They sought emotion, knowledge, peace, rebellion, understanding, consolation, hope, sexuality, determination and to find a place for all in the world in their workmanship. Led Zeppelin's music will stand the test of time just as those Classical geniuses of centuries ago. "Stand at the top of the podium, gentlemen."

I think Led Zeppelin is a LOT more talented than Metallica. Here is a a comparison of each member:

Guitar: Jimmy Page. Kirk Hammett might not be as sloppy, but Jimmy puts a lot more emotion into his music.
Drums: John Bonham. I think you can figure this one out yourself.
Bass: Tie. John Paul Jones and Cliff Burton are both amazing bassists, and it would be hard to choose one over the other without being biased.
Vocals: Robert Plant. Both Robert and James have strong voices, but I have to give the edge to Robert because of that amazing range.

Led Zeppelin was made up of far more than just four extremely talented musicians, each and every one was a revolutionary musical virtuoso. To a man, they were game changers destined to rewrite the entire rock & roll playbook. They remain the only rock band in history in which every single member was arguably the best ever at their respective instrument...The odds against that much talent coalescing and then --together--becoming much greater than the sum of their incredible parts...well, that's why there is only one Led Zeppelin.

Look at the line up, the timeless riffs, grooves and musical soundscapes. They made the model, formula and style that would be emulated by bands for decades to follow their brief but brilliant existence. They set the bar for rock bands and have still never been eclipsed with regard to their contribution to the modern definitition of "rock band." To be specific, what band has a drummer, bassist/keys/other, vocalist and guitarist/composer that even comes close and image the whole being greater than the sum of it's parts.

2 Rush Rush was a Canadian progressive rock band that was formed in 1968. The band has had an iconic lineup since 1975, which included Neil Peart (Drums, Percussion), Geddy Lee (Vocals, Bass, Keyboards), and the guitarist, Alex Lifeson. Peart passed away after a 3 year battle with brain cancer in January of 2020. Because of this, Lee says there are no plans to keep the band going, so Rush is most likely defunct. The band has become one of the most well-known progressive rock bands in the world, with such albums as "2112", "Hemispheres" and "Moving Pictures". More than half of their albums have gone gold or platinum, as certified by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America).

My vote goes to RUSH. rush has lasted 40 years, longer than almost all bands and they have sounded brilliant all the way it doesn't matter what they play they will always sound good. Reggae, rock, progressive, synth rock, metal, folk. it has never been easy to categorize RUSH because they experimented with everything. Neil Peart the drummer for rush once said "No one has ever said that doesn't suit rush. Those words have never been uttered". and can I just say I am over people saying led zeppelin is the greatest band of all time because that honor belongs to RUSH baby.

Listen to any song by, from 1974 to the present, you'll be blown away. Rush has three members, Neil Peart is there drummer and is the greatest drummer to have ever lived. Alex Lifeson is there guitarist and is the most underrated guitarist all time. And Geddy Lee is there bassist, the greatest bassist of all time. He also plays the keyboard and foot pedals all while singing Neil peart's unbelievable lyrics. Rush should be number 1.

The Holy Trifecta! It's hard to believe that so much sound comes from a group of three, each member displaying absolute mastery over their instrument. Long over-looked by mainstream pin heads, these guys are finally getting the recognition they deserve. I rate them #1 for the complete musicianship package and #2 overall just behind Led Zeppelin simple because Robert Plant's vocals are superior to Geddy's.

Rush is a band that has been producing some great music going on 40 years now. From great hits like Tom Sawyer and The Spirit of Radio to incredible epics like Cygnus X-1 Book II (which features change in time signature every ~10 seconds in parts--insane! ) Rush just has it all. None of these other bands can touch Rush in terms of perfection and playing difficulty. Plus they can pull all of the above off live, which is even better.

3 Queen Queen are an English rock band formed in London in 1970. The original lineup was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and John Deacon (bass guitar, vocals). Before forming into Queen, Brian May and Roger Taylor had played together in a band ...read more.

They definitely deserve to be number one. I love Queen so much. They are VERY talented. Can you sing like Freddie (no one can. )? Can you play bass like John (I know you can't. )? Can you rock out like Brian (hell no. )? Can you play the best drums ever like Roger (oh, just give it up! )?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, lemme see. And I know you won't be close to their talent. No one can ever come close. EVER.
I love you Freddie, forever and ever!

Freddie Mercury (RIP) has vocals that will never be beat. EVER.
Brian May plays a guitar, ukelele and sings epically.
John Deacon (Deacy! ) may not sing but plays the greatest bass ever--and synth.
And Roger Taylor sings like no other and plays fantastic drums.
Each a quarter of the band, when you put them together, you get something unstoppably awesome. Queen. The legacy is immortal.

NOBODY will ever ever compare to Queen's greatness. They had the MOST talented front man ever, Freddie and on the other hand, an uber talented guitarist, Brian and an EPIC bassist, John and a super epic back up vocalist/ drummer, Roger. They made their songs out of sheer epicness and they were just geniuses that were exceptionally talented.

Freddie Mercury has the second largest vocal range of all time (after Mariah Carey and God knows how big hers is) and is known as the greatest frontman of all time. Add in one of the best guitarists, best bassists, and best drummers, and you get Queen, the men that are the bada bing before the bada boom

4 Guns N' Roses

Technically not the best, but certainly the band who have made some of the most powerful music in the history of rock. The music triggers my emotions like crazy and one notable thing is that is that I never get tired of listening to their songs even if I play them every single day.
The rumored reunion, if it really happens would be like a dream. Even though Axl has lost his famous whining voice of his twenties, Slash is at the top of his game and when they combine forces, the passion will certainly make something nice to come out.

Versatility.
historically, a transition between glam and grunge, there was Guns N' Roses. They made a time bubble that was not supossed to have happened, as the hair bands were declining and grunge was about to come up. 1988-1991 were unique and Guns N' Roses was the centre of all of this.

They make me cry every time. I get so emotional listening to them. And then other times all I want to do is dance and sing along, and then I can't stop smiling.

Best band of all time!

They're a good band overall, but their only outstanding member is Slash.Led Zeppelin and The Who both had 4 amazing members, while in Guns N' Roses the rest of the members where just kinda average.

5 Iron Maiden Iron Maiden are an English Heavy Metal band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. The most critically acclaimed period for the band was from 1983-1989. With vocalist Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, lead guitarist Dave Murray, rhythm guitarist Adrian ...read more.

The Yardbirds had the most talented guitar players ever. Clapton, Beck, Page!

ER they are the best not queen!
I love queen but truth is there's no band as much talented as Maiden

6 AC/DC AC/DC are a Australian hard rock band, formed in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, who continued as members until Malcolm's illness and departure in 2014 . They were fronted by Bon Scott until his untimely death due to alcohol poisoning in 1979, after which they hired Brian Johnson to front the band. Commonly referred to as a hard rock or blues rock band.

AC/DC are apparently more talanted than Pink Ployd... Sorry guys, but that's far from the truth. AC/DC is the biggest cancer on the different subgenres of rock. Their lyrics are boring and simplistic, their vocals are awful, and never have been any good, and thunderstruck takes about 3 minutes to learn on guitar. Nothing more needs to be said, not talanted band.

If someone's ever gonna ask what's Rock 'n' Roll...there will only be two words in the answer...AC/DC...and to define AC/DC..again two words..Angus Young...AC/DC may not have been the greatest band of all time, but they are undoubtedly the greatest Rock 'n' Roll band the world has ever seen...

AC/DC perfectly encompasses everything that is Rock N' Roll. Their guitar riffs, solos, sound, drumming, and singing is ALL spot on.

When you think of hardcore Rock N Roll music, you think of AC/DC. Their songs are simple, yet played with perfection and one thing that separates AC/DC from other bands is that they sound much better live than in the studio. This is what makes them such a legendary band.
#RIPMalcom

7 Metallica Metallica is an American Heavy/Thrash Metal band formed in 1981. The original lineup was James Hetfield (Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney (Bassist). Excluding Lars of course.

Metallica in the best

Metallica changed the way that Rock n' Roll is looked at and they share a story in their music

I love this band!

8 Aerosmith

They are a bit overlooked by some people, but they are actually really talented:Steven Tyler is one of the best rock singers, with an amazing range. Joe Perry plays many great riffs that stick in your head forever Brad Whitford is extremely underrated, and one of the few rhythm guitarists that you can actually hear...Joey Kramer is not the greatest drummer ever, but he's still really good and overlooked. And the bass player... I dunno, don't even hear the bass in their music. They might not be #1, but they're indefinitely higher than AC/DC, Rush and Guns N' Roses.

They aren't called the "Bad Boys from Boston" for no reason. Steven Tyler has such an amazing voice and all the members are great at the instruments they play. And Aerosmith has so many great hits! They're badass!

These guys put American music back on the map. There's a reason why they're called 'America's greatest rock 'n' roll bands.

Steven Tyler has one of the 10 vocals that will never die.

9 Kiss Kiss, often styled as KISS, was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1973. The original members were Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals), and Peter Criss (drums, vocals).

Pete Townshend: Expert guitarists and one of the best ever, (if you doubt me try to learn Pinball Wizard or something else they did on guitar) and a super songwriter.
John Entwistle: I know little about bass but bassists tell me he is superb.
Keith Moon: The King of Drums

Incredible musical/rock variety. All members rank in the top performers with respect to their instruments and singing. Pete is genius in song writing and they were the best live act of all time.

The Who deserve to be in the top of this list with The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. They are great and very influential musicians.

The who r the most important band in the world, they encompass everything, pop, rock, sweet ballards, significant solo work, god himself could not beat them for a live act, especially around 1975, no one can come near there off stage antics, god bless the oo!

The best, hands down with no comparison. Too many #1 hits, too many B-side classics, extensive legendary songbook with not one bad album ever produced, 4 movies with soundtracks made, mostly wrote songs about love, no two albums are similar, rewrote the rules of symphonic musical theory, lifted America's spirits after the Kennedy assassination when they came on the Ed Sullivan show, was responsible for partially ending the Cold War by peeking the interests of the Soviet block of humanity towards what was going on outside of their sphere in the West and is truly beloved worldwide. Elvis, Zep, Michael Jackson, Hendrix, Beach Boys, Mariah Carey and more all great but the Beatles were the tops.

I have respect for most of the bands on this list but in terms of popularity, sales, talent, influence, and just the pure verity of sounds and looks these guys are number one. Some people will claim The Beatles are over rated, those people are wrong, they are as good as everyone says they are.

We're talking about musical talent here. Paul is a really good musician but not top 10, none of the rest were above top 50. The magic of the Beatles came from the other side of the glass and great timing.

Lennon/McCartney alone put the marker down for everyone else. Add Harrison and Starr, brilliant playing and unsurpassed style and The Beatles become untouchable.

14 The Rolling Stones The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in London in 1962. The first settled line-up consisted of Brian Jones (guitar, harmonica), Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (lead vocals, harmonica), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass) and Charlie Watts (drums). ...read more.

There bananas! and furthermore three quarters of this list are Rolling Stones want to be's. This list is a insult to rock and roll you people should ought to be ashame of yourself! I mean come on what you people just pick numbers randomly out of a hat! Good god smart in up people or should I say crack heads! # 19 this has to be a miss print. SEE ya later!

This band just keeps going and getting better. Should be number 1. What other band has been around for 50 years and can still sellout a concert?

This band has amazed me time and time again. Who else can come up with that amazing riff at the beginning of Satisfaction?

Listen to let it bleed, exile on Main Street, and sticky fingers. The stones should be number one on this list. Not even top 10?

The band was comprised of Kurt Cobain (Vocals, Guitar), Dave Grohl (Drums) and Krist Novoselic (Bass). ...read more.

The band took the basics of grunge and we're able to utilize it well. Kurt Cobain was able to add quite the level of complexity with a distortion pedal. Meanwhile, Krist Novoselic had talent on the level of many guitarists, but with a bass instead, allowing for the ability to make compelling bass music. Finally, all 6 of the band's drummers (Yeah, you heard me correctly. Dave Grohl wasn't the only one) had talent, with their drumming being fast, ferocious, and heart-pounding. But in my opinion, their original drummer, Aaron Burkhard was their best one. If anyone is scratching their head over this, just try to look up the band's 1987 summer rehearsal, and you'll see why.

They were the most talented... Too bad it didn't last long...

When you put two masters of their instruments along with Jimi Hendrix, you get something very, very, big. Implementing Psychedelic Riffs with Bluesy Licks, the Jimi Hendrix Experience defined everything about rock n roll.

Black Sabbath is the Godfather of Heavy Metal and they're one of the most influential bands in rock history! And they're style is so unique. They should be at least top 5! They ROCK!
