I've seen Pat performing many times, first time in 1978. And he doesn't stop to amaze me...he is truly one of the most innovative and creative musician of all times, not only a (brilliant) player.
The craziest hands you may ever see
He played solos in 1969 that rival those many decades later. He also had a major impact in destroying the barrier between highly disorted guitars and virtuoso fretwork.V 1 Comment
Right after Yngwie the best guitarist in the 80's and 90's, wrote some amazing songs with Ozzy and then completely changed his style when he formed Badlands. I can't wait for his new album!
I completely agree! One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. Actually wrote some great songs like Bark at the moon, Killer of Giants, Secret LoserV 1 Comment
The many different sounds that he could master with a flip of a switch from his guitar was one reason that the Beatles had a tight sound. Maybe I'm showing my age,but I still love his guitar work on "I feel Fine".
The most underrated guitarist ever. He is probably the fast shredder alive and he plays his shredding-arpegios with more emotion than the most guitarists. Also his style is very varied from slow and deep solos to heavy and very dark distorted riffs. Very underrated player
John Petrucci is an amazing guitarist that I love and is a personal inspirationV 1 Comment
Just listen to maggot brain the greatest guitar solo of all time. Not to mention the fact that he help creat the funk genre with parliament funkadelic
Can't believe he is not on every guitarists radar! Better listen to " blue Jean blues " one more time! Have mercy! Been waiting on the bus all day! Very good player.
Most people don't listen to ZZ Top's older stuff, so they don't know how good Gibbons is. He would kill it on songs that would never be heard on radio. For example, his slide guitar on "I Wanna Drive You Home" is hypnotic. His wide array of talent goes unnoticed because of ZZ Top's image.
Seriously, he is not really primarily known for his guitar work but the intro solo on "Prove it All Night" on the 1978 Darkness tour was just amazing.
Yes he is polarising, but JM is one hell of a guitarist. Just listen to him performing "Neon" live...
Frank can out gun any guitarist on this list. So underrated. Just listen to Mahogany Rush Live and you'll see what I'm talking about. Another great (though cut) song is Johnny B. Goode from California Jam 2. It's a masterpiece of playing complete with the best rendition of "Electric Reflections of War". Hey Zakk Wilde praised him many times.
Holy cow this guy gets the shaft. If you've never heard this guy, then you don't know the definition of underrated. Look him up and tell me I'm wrong. He was doing this stuff in the 70's for crying out loud!
