81 Hammerfall Hammerfall HammerFall is a Swedish heavy metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was formed in 1993 by ex-Ceremonial Oath guitarist Oscar Dronjak.

So underrated

82 The Death In Me
83 Death Death Death was an American Death Metal band formed in 1983 by Chuck Schuldiner. Death is considered to be one of the most influential bands in heavy metal and a pioneering force in death metal. Its debut album, Scream Bloody Gore, has been widely regarded as the first death metal record, while the band's more.

People see the name and expect stuff like Cannibal Corpse. Death is not even close to Corpse. They have excellent music, too.

84 Rev Theory

Agreed totally. But they aren't heavy metal.

85 Oceano
86 Municipal Waste Municipal Waste Municipal Waste is a crossover thrash band from Richmond, Virginia. They performed at the UK's Download Festival on June 15, 2008. They also joined At the Gates on their "Suicidal Final Tour" along with Darkest Hour, Toxic Holocaust and Repulsion.
87 Kiss Kiss Kiss is an American hard rock band formed in New York City in January 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and the band's original manager, Lew Linet.

Their not underrated in overall fame, they have plenty of that. The fact that they were one of the early bands that had a harder edge to their music an a lot of people don't consider them metal, to me, that makes them underrated. KISS, along with Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and a few others were the forefather's of the genre, even though their music isn't considered as hard as today's metal. It had to start somewhere.

This Is Metal Not Rock. Why Are They Here? Anyway, These Guys Are Like Over Sixtyfive Years Old Already.

89 Blue Öyster Cult Blue Öyster Cult Blue Öyster Cult is an American rock band from Long Island, New York, whose most successful work includes the hard rock and heavy metal songs "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", "Godzilla" and "Burnin' for You".

They are kinda their own genre but they are pretty underrated at least they're good albums

I don't think that they are Heavy Metal, but they're defintely extremely underrated. Their debut is out of this world, it's tremendous! - MetalGurja

90 Symphony X Symphony X Symphony X is an American progressive metal band from Middletown, New Jersey. Founded in 1994, the band consists of guitarist Michael Romeo, keyboardist Michael Pinnella, drummer Jason Rullo, lead vocalist Russell Allen and bassist Michael Lepond.

Russell Allen has an incredible vocal range, just listen to "The Sacrifice" and you'll get me.

Great band! And I only heard about them a few months ago... I'm ashamed

91 Sevendust Sevendust

Never Turn Your Back on a Friend it's probably better than your favorite album. I'm serious.

94 Voivod Voivod Voivod is a Canadian heavy metal band from Jonquière, Québec. Their musical style has changed several times since the band's origin in the early 1980s.

Voivod's importance and influence in bands such as Meshuggah, Dillinger, Mastodon, Annihilator, Vektor, Nocturnus, among many others. Voivod's legacy is atonishing mainly when it comes to guitar dissonance and creativity. The late Dennis "Piggy" D'amour is my favourite metal guitar player. And Langevin is such a crafty songwriter... Dimension Hatross, Killing Technology, Nothingface, Outer Limits, even the chaotic Phobos... Man... This guys are as underrated as it can get.

95 Iced Earth Iced Earth Iced Earth is an American heavy metal band from Tampa, Florida. It was formed in 1985 under the name Purgatory by guitarist and main songwriter Jon Schaffer and original drummer Greg Seymour.

One of my favorite band together with Savatage and Metallica,

96 Dream Theater Dream Theater Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band. The band was formed in 1985 under the name of "Majesty", but had to change its name to Dream Theater later. more.

Umm Dream Theater is Prog Metal... But still metal ( they do have some heavy metal influences)... - MusicalPony

No doubt, great musicians, great band. But I wouldn't call them underrated anymore - in 2013 they were nominated for a Grammy Award (lost out to Black Sabbath) and they are also very popular even among non-metal fans.

Critical acclaim and popularity don't speak underrated. - Metal_Treasure
