Top Ten Most Underrated Singers

The Top Ten

1 Nick Jonas Nick Jonas Nicholas Jerry "Nick" Jonas is an American singer, songwriter and actor, best known as one of the Jonas Brothers, a pop rock band he formed with his brothers Kevin and Joe.

Seriously, when people here the word "Jonas" people automatically associate the guys with Disney Channel and their younger music. Nick Jonas is eighteen years old now with his old band. His voice has matured and he is ready to take on the music industry. He has a great range and a tender voice with great lyrics. Give his band Nick Jonas & the Administration a try. He really is phenomenal. - dancergirl1800

Nick has written and produced his own music, music with his brothers, and for other artists. He plays guitar, drums, piano, bass guitar, and I've heard he also plays the cello! He can do it all, and his voice is now matured, making him sound even better. He has a very good falsetto, and can even transfer over into theater! He can sing pop, rock, R^^B, I mean, just because he's a Jonas doesn't mean he isn't talented! He always plays live, and so do his brothers! He wrote a 7 piece score, even. Give the guy a chance, people, that's all I ask.

Unlike other pop stars of his age, Nick strives to outperform himself every time. Please don't judge him because of his surname- I know it sounds awful but I had disliked the Jonas Brothers when they were the worldwide craze. I bought a DVD of Les Miz and well, I changed my opinions about him (fangirl moment right there! ). He is an artist who has matured before our very eyes. He deserves a lot, really.

BILLY OCEAN SHOULD BE ON THIS LIST!

2 Matt Heafy Matt Heafy Matthew "Matt" Kiichi Heafy is a Japanese-American musician, best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Orlando based Heavy Metal/Metalcore band Trivium.
3 Mike Patton Mike Patton Michael Allan "Mike" Patton is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, film composer, producer, and actor, best known as the lead singer of the alternative metal band Faith No More.

All I have to say is, you won't find a vocalist as diverse, as bizarre in style and dynamic vocally as Mike Patton. Excellent vocal chops combined with an off-the-walls weirdness. No album this guy is on is the same from a vocal standpoint. Something completely different each time. Best work is definitely on Faith No More's Angel Dust and Mr. Bungle's California.

The guy's got a six-octave vocal range. But it's a shame that Faith No More only had one big hit.

In my honest opinion, he's 22 times better than today's JB, Gaga, Taylor and everyone from 1 Direction

4 Connie Talbot Connie Talbot Connie Talbot (Born November 20th, 2000) is an English child singer, who rose to fame as a finalist on the first season of Britain's Got Talent. She is currently active as an independent music artist on YouTube.
5 Art Garfunkel Art Garfunkel Arthur Ira "Art" Garfunkel is an American singer, poet and actor. He partnered in his earlier years with Paul Simon in the folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel.

As the only one of your top ten that truly does fit this category, I will vote for Garfunkel. Seriously though, the rest of your top ten is filled with people who have had maybe one or two hits at the most, yet are rated highly on a lot of these lists. That's overrated, folks, not underrated.

Really the only one of the top five I agree with, although overall this list looks better, it must have been shuffled. At least Underwood isn't listed as highly underrated, which was the biggest joke on any of these lists.

Watched their 1981 concert at Central Park on PBS last night, and it confirmed to me what an amazing voice Art Garfunkel has.

The only deserving artist to be on this list.

She has perhaps the most beautiful voice in the history of recorded music. But that's not even her biggest strength; it's not what she's good at.
What she's really good at is making people cry. There's never been another singer quite like her.

The most beautiful voice many have never heard. We really have to change that.

Doesn't get the airplay of other young singers but her thrilling voice is well worth the effort to catch her on YouTube, CD, DVD and in concert.

MAY be a BIT overrated on Top Tens? Gee, d’ya think? Yes, I would say if someone is most underrated on every single list it’s possible they’re not underrated.

8 Amy Lee Amy Lee Amy Lynn Hartzler, known professionally as Amy Lee, is an American singer-songwriter, classically trained pianist and composer. She is also the lead singer to the Arkansas band Evanescence.

She has such a beautiful voice and a lot of talent. Not a lot of people talk about her. I think she deserves some honorable mention. The song she sings have really good lyrics too.

I just voted for a random singer that I don't know to say that Jay Sean is so underrated that he was not included in this entire list. Just listen to one of his songs and then you'll know why he deserves to be in this list. I'd recommend Down by Jay Sean ft Lil Wayne. Thank me later.

I get so frustrated that she is underrated. She's a powerhouse and her vocal range is beyond ordinary. I don't know why selena is so overrated when she can't even sing. Demi doesn't need any kind of auto tuning. She has the most empowering songs like warrior, skyscraper and stone cold etc. She is also working for mental health issues. Guys please for once listen to her music and you'll start loving her.

Why does the crappy singer selena get more attention for her music but not demi, its really sad to live on this world

People need to stop considering her to be a Disney star. She's insanely talented and she writes her own music unlike other pop artist.

17 Christina Perri Christina Perri

I've heard Christina and this is really a pretty reasonable choice. At least she's not someone like Evancho or Amy Lee who are voted in the top five on every list, then you turn around and call them underrated.

Her songs are so beautiful, emotional. Her voice is gentle when it comes to sing a sad or soft song, powerful in such songs like "Human". She's also beautiful with her nature looks, not showing off her body like other female celebrities, I'm not judging them.
She should be noticed more than she is now. - Randy-Nighell

22 Avril Lavigne Avril Lavigne Avril Ramona Lavigne is a Canadian–French singer-songwriter and actress. By the age of 15, she had appeared on stage with Shania Twain; by 16, she had signed a two-album recording contract with Arista Records worth more than $2 million.

This is the first name I have seen on this list that I do feel may be underrated. I'm not familiar with KS Chithra, but the rest of your top five are all incredibly overrated. Jonas is the only one of your top five that plays an instrument, and just because he ditched his brothers doesn't mean he's all of a sudden a great artist. This is really a screwy list, and I think we need a definition of underrated here.

It seems like people are starting to forget her, but she was famous at the early 2000s

She's talented but not as publicized as the others, which is exactly why she is UNDERrated.

Definitely shouldn't be on this list... - DaWyteNight

23 Adam Lambert Adam Lambert Adam Mitchel Lambert is an American singer, songwriter and stage actor. Since 2009, he has sold over 2.5 million albums and 5 million singles worldwide.

Since Adam Lambert is considered underrated, I think the names John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra, and Stevie Wonder should be added. The reason? They are all rated BELOW Lambert in the best male singer list. In fact, Lambert is rated ahead of everyone other than Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, and Elvis. Sorry, folks. Adam's not THAT good. Remove him from this list immediately.

Adam Lambert has so much talent, but after Idol so many people just forgot about him! He has such a powerful voice and an incredible range. Look up his performance of "Who Wants to Live Forever? " with Queen... It took my breath away!

No one has forgotten about him. Rated very high on virtually every Top Tens list. Not overrated, but certainly not underrated.

24 Benjamin Orr Benjamin Orr Benjamin Orzechowski, known as Benjamin Orr, was an American musician best known as a singer, bassist and co-founder of the rock band the Cars.

He was so awesome! He was a great singer/guitarist, and very inspirational. He was beautiful inside and out. Just looking at his face makes you feel so happy. It makes me sad that he died. This man was an angel. The Cars are a great but underrated band that need more recognition. Benjamin Orr was amazing. He will definitely be missed.

The Midnight Special video of Just What I Needed made me fall in love with Benjamin Orr. He had the best voice, best moves, Best Look of all rockers. The Cars should have been part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a long time ago.

Benjamin Orr had a voice that immediately touched your heart. Like a chemical reaction. Once that happens his voice haunts you forever.

She is good but I really hate to put anyone who achieved their fame by way of a reality show on the underrated list. The show itself gives them fame and a real leg up on the competition. There are at least five in this top twenty alone (and I'm not familiar with everyone) who achieved because of a singing contest. Maybe someone else is just as talented but doesn't have wealthy parents to take them to all their singing contests or able to afford voice lessons. I just think anybody who was on American Idol, America's Got Talent, ot The Voice, for example, has had exposure others couldn't dream of and just by that notoriety, isn't underrated.

Sorry but I have to officially disqualify Kelly from the list since I saw her on the best country singers list. When you start showing up on lists you don't even belong on, you lose your underrated status. Should we put her on the best opera and reggae singers lists, too?

She has an amazing range, power, versatility, control, and tone that's shown much more in her live concerts, and on American Idol than in her recordings. - ilovekelly75

She can out sing almost everyone on this list, a truly underrated singer

Ed sheeran is insanely talented, such a great singer, and a totally down-to-earth, kind human being. I don't think he's underrated though. Not overrated either. I think he's in a really good place right now.

He is such a talented singer, better than beiber, sam smith and nick jonas... His new album X is a great achievement, he deserves more fame!

36 John Mayer John Mayer

John Mayer is a genius. He is an amazing guitarist and his songs are great. I don't know why he is so underrated. Also I don't understand why Ed Sheeran is in this list because he is one of the most listened artists today. I love both these artists, but I think, John Mayer should be given more attention than what he is. He has only 500K+ subscibers in his Vevo whereas Ed Sheeran has millions. So Ed Sheeran is no where near underrated. He shouldn't be in this list. But I personally think that John Mayer should be one of the top 5 people in this list because he is underrated as hell and people should realize it. He deserves better.

I will absolutely agree John Mayer is underrated, especially as a guitar player. I looked at Rolling Stone's list of 100 best guitarists, and was floored that Mayer wasn't on it, although they did have him talking about other guitarists. Best guitar player of this generation, and I don't think it's even close.

John Mayer should definitely be placed within the top 5 artists in the list. He is not just an amazing singer and a skillful guitarist. He is a profound lyricist as well. Yet many of his songs like 'slow dancing in a burning room' and 'in your atmosphere' remain under-appreciated. Such a shame!

We love you john!

I don't have words to describe how amazing his voice is, let alone his guitar playing. He is my favourite singer/guitarist of all time. The fact that he is underrated actually makes his songs more special to me.
