Top Ten Movie Series that Changed the Most Throughout

The Top Ten

1 Mad Max Mad Max

First movie: a revenge thriller about a cop who went through terrible things

Second movie: an action movie set in a post apocalyptic world

Third movie: essentially a fantasy blockbuster

Fourth movie: basically like the second movie but on a much larger scale - Martin_Canine

2 #TubeClash #TubeClash

First movie: based on a web series, an animated comedic parody of famous German YouTubers. The premise was that ten famous YouTubers wake up on a lonely island with fantasy creatures and have to fight Hunger Games-style. Towards the end, it gets a bit more dramatic, but still within the context of a comedy.

Second movie: starts off just the same as the first movie, then suddenly starts turning heavily emotional and intense. The characters develop their own personalities that don't reflect those of the YouTubers they are based on anymore. There is an incredibly serious and sad flashback scene every epic anime series or video game would be proud of.

Third movie: an epic dark fantasy anime with complex characters, a thought out fantasy universe, tragic death scenes and only a bit of comic relief here and there. It's overall intense and takes its characters serious.

This turned from "Drawn Together" to "Digimon 02". - Martin_Canine

3 The Evil Dead The Evil Dead

First movie: a dark and incredibly gory occult horror movie

Second movie: a darkly humorous horror comedy

Third movie: a rather tame fantasy comedy movie - Martin_Canine

4 Harry Potter Harry Potter

Starts off as a light hearted and exciting fantasy movie with lots of entertaining as well as light scary moments and ends up as a dark fantasy war movie with tragic characters, a dictatorship regime and countless deaths. - Martin_Canine

5 James Bond James Bond

Starts off with spy thrillers, then gets more humorous and sillier, then turns back to more action packed spy movies and ends up a saga with dark psychological thrillers. - Martin_Canine

6 Batman (1989-1997) Batman (1989-1997)

Starts off a bit macabre and darkly humorous and gets sillier, brighter and more comic througout. - Martin_Canine

7 Der Bockerer Der Bockerer

The first movie is a serious movie set in Nazi Austria about the life of a naive good hearted butcher that doesn't realize how terrible the world around him has become. There are a few tragicomic scenes like in "Life is Beautiful" in there, but it's more serious than comical. The other three movies in the series were released years later, are set in post-war Austria and are light hearted and easy digestible comedies.
The first movie is one of my Top 50 favorite movies, the second one is average, three and four are garbage. It's a shame all four are by the same director and with the same leading actor. Why would you ruin your legacy like this? - Martin_Canine

8 Scary Movie Scary Movie

The first two movies tried to perfectly copy the atmosphere, tension and character stereotypes of '90s horror movies, and then added gags. Also, the humor was very dark, dirty and politically incorrect.
Since Scary Movie 3, they did not care for atmosphere anymore and put together a bunch of scenes from different movies (not necessarily horror movies) and added gags to those. The humor was easily digestible slapstick, and did not go beyond PG-13 territory. - Martin_Canine

9 Lethal Weapon Lethal Weapon

The first movie was mainly action, and took its characters serious (Mel Gibson's character is suicidal for example), and only had a bit of comic relief. Then, the comedy elements increased throughout the series. - Martin_Canine

10 Alien Alien

We start off with a horror flick, then an action film, and then the franchise bursts into oblivion after two fantastic flicks!

The Contenders

11 Terminator Terminator

The first movie was essentially a slasher movie, but with more thought out character relationships and perfectly written and directed.

The second movie was more of a drama movie set before the background of a science fiction movie. Ever realized how much of the movie is about character relationships and overcoming one's fear and trust issues?

The others are essentially scifi action. - Martin_Canine

12 A Nightmare on Elm Street
13 Captain America Captain America Captain America is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
