Top 10 Movie Series That Went On Way Too LongMovie studios have a problem of taking something successful, and milking it as long as they can, sometimes even shaming a once great series' name! Once you make it to straight-to-DVD, you know it's time to stop. And I can't stop you from adding Indiana Jones or Star Wars, but please, be gentle.
The Top Ten
You may not realize it, but there are now FOURTEEN films in The Land Before Time franchise. You remember them right? That one wonderful children's movie all those years ago? Well after that came a steady flow of animated musical direct-to-VHS sequels. - higgsboson2142
Ah, the memories of the first one, the big freeze, and the one where they met the little t rex. Should've stopped there.
Seriously? Fourteen? Isn't that going just a little overboard?
Most of the Movies are good, except mainly for Film 13: Wisdom of Friends. That film is HORRIBLE and Littlefoot is such a bastard. What have they done to him?! That film should be Burned. Luckily 2016 brought in a good sequel. Its always a treat when of their films airs on Sprout/Universal Kids, but they air the show every day, and it's just not the same compared to the movies, if you know what I mean.
This series was great after the first 2 movies, but they should have stopped after the 2nd movie. - nintendofan126
The first two were awesome but it went downhill from there. The worst was home alone 4 - Ajkloth
Well 1 and 2 was great! Then they made a third one. Sure, number 3 was pretty good, but then they made 2 more! I would of kept it at 3. - micahisthebest
Yeah, only the first two were great.
Jaws is one of my favorite movies. The second one? It's okay, a bit of a rehash of the first film, but it still stars Roy Schneider as Brody. Unfortunately, the third film is where it gets bad. The third wasn't labeled as Jaws 3, but Jaws 3D. YEAH. Plastic cyan/red glasses 3D, too! I don't even WANT to talk about the fourth film. - higgsboson2142
Had a ton of movies and didn't deserve one of them. - RalphBob
There's like 3 air bud movies, and 7 air buddies movies about his pups - Jackamalio
I used to like these movies about 5-7 years ago when I was a huge fans of dogs. It's pretty cringeworthy to look back at, but this movie series has way too much of them and most of them are plain weird. - Swellow
Ugh, these are so corny!
I remember one time my mom used to show me and my sister one of the movies from this franchise when it was airing on T.V. late at night. I used to legitimately laugh at it back in the day, but now it's evolved into more of a So Bad, It's Good vibe for me. But considering how many movies were made after the first one, I can see why it deserves its place on this list. The acting was subpar even for its time and most of the humor is derived from all the cops being incompetent idiots who can't do their job right until the climax of the movie, which can be more frustrating than entertaining at worst. - ModernSpongeBobSucks
They couldn't even get the guy who played robocop in the first two to come back for the third one. - Jackamalio
The first film was brilliant, 2 and 3 were great, 4 and 5 were bad, 6 was great, 3D was terrible, and Jigsaw was a great slight improvement.
Everyone was just fed up with it after 5. 6 was okay, but 7 (Saw 3D) was a trainwreck!
They even had one where Jason ends up in space. Enough said!
It was great up until the 4th one, then it just went all downhill from there.
When he said "I'll Be Back", I didn't think he meant it like this. - PositronWildhawk
Just wait till the live action movie with a real actress. Don't expect her to be skinny as Barbie its just a toy who was designed that way.
Why do they keep making Barbie movies? I understand they want to entertain young girls but could they just put a end to the over 9000 Barbie movies? - PerfectImpulseX
Trying to make as many movies as the dolls or more movies than dolls?
You thought The Land Before Time was the franchise with the most pointless direct-to-video installments? Well, I guess you forgot about the mountainous amount of DTV movies Barbie and Scooby-Doo have... - PerfectImpulseX
The first one was okay. It had amazing effects, but a confusing plot and bad acting toned it down. Then the 2nd movie came out, it was a disaster.
This was OK, just the horrible acting. Sequels however proved Michael Bay has a lack of talent. - Swellow
The first one was good, and the second one. Then 3 more, they were good and I understand cause they were good at the box office - micahisthebest
Just two much. The first one was good and I understand a sequel, but 3 more! and possibly another! Just two much.
Continental drift and the fifth one (forgot the name) were the worst two.
Whoever thought that giving this movie SIX sequels was a good idea needs to fired immediately! Especially the CGI movies where Odette doesn't even turn into a swan at all except for near the end of The Swan Princess Christmas and the main character is now Odette's and Derek's adopted daughter Elise (no not the Elise/Elize from Tales of Xillia, but an more annoying Elise). - PerfectImpulseX
For every new move, comes more hate from Bobsheaux. Watch his episodes on Alpha and Omega on YouTube.
This film series has to end. The first movie, wasn't even good, so how the hell did it get so many sequels?!
The furry equivalent to The Swan Princess - PerfectImpulseX
The sequels are probably non-canon - ZootopiaFan
They made 4 of them. - Discord1
The first one wasn't even that good. - Jackamalio
I liked the Eddie Murphy version. - RalphBob
First 10 movies were good 1998-2007. But went downhill the 11th movie onward with the volcaian movie being the only good movie of the dark period. 2008-present
Even the amazing Peter Sellers has been caught up in horrible sequels, one of them even made with unused footage after his death! As for the Steve Martin films, well, I'm not going to talk ill of Steve Martin, so I'll just keep quiet. - higgsboson2142
All of the sequel suck, The first one is the only one worth watching
2 was very good. Didn't really dig the other 3. - Jackamalio
Is good, yes - GrapeJuiceK
No! All of the sequels were great! in my opinion, the movies got better as they went.
I saw that this series was BS after 10 minutes through the first one
Why did they need three movies to tell a story shorter than all of the Lord of The Rings books but the movie adaptation of Lord of The Rings only has one movie per book. That's never made sense. - Anonymousxcxc
Feature films are generally made to make money. This one made quite a bit. It's business. They made a lot of dollars and sense. - Billyv
I hate this trilogy with a burning passion. Bathroom humor and an extremely infantile protagonist that is infamously ear-bleeding, really?! Nickelodeon seriously needs to go bankrupt, but sometimes Nickelodeon actually screws up as horribly as Dingo Pictures (meaning it's the cancer of the movie industry). Since I just said this is a trilogy, I can't say that it's gone as (too) long as Air Bud, The Land Before Time, Norm of the North and Alpha & Omega (which, like Norm of the North, is made by the same makers of this franchise).
Since when did mockbuster rip-offs get numerous amounts of sequels? - ModernSpongeBobSucks
Greatest Movie of all time. Better than Star Wars, Harry Potter, LOTR, and even the Godfather
What else did you expect? LOTR was a trilogy so it would make sense to make it into three movies.
A trilogy makes sense, but four is a dumb idea. - LarkwingFlight
I thought this only had about two movies, a one that took chronologically before this, and the current one that took place after? - Swellow
None of them are good. - LarkwingFlight
This year they literally came out with yet another one called Leatherface. How many of these are they gonna make?!
Just heard they're coming out with another one next year. Ho boy.
