Top Ten Movies of 1995 with the Best Special Effects

I remember reading somewhere that the family of the original book's author were worried about how the film would go down, knowing how upset Dick King-Smith would be had they messed it up. Within the first few minutes, such worries were crushed when Smith was impressed by the effects of the animals talking. They were very strong then, and still hold up very nicely.

It may have tanked and it wasn't very good, but the impressive set design and effects at least show the money was well spent. Shame about the film otherwise.
