Movie Review: Avengers: Endgame (No Spoilers!)

nicolasb5194 It’s finally here! Avengers: Endgame is the newest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I, like tons of people were anticipating this film. This film was the year’s most anticipated film. After how Infinity War ended, many people were wanting to know what would happen to these characters. As a huge Marvel fan, I was excited for this film! So what did I think of it? Well, let’s find out! Just a reminder that there will be NO spoilers! So you guys are safe here!

Endgame takes place three weeks after the events of Infinity War when Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped out half of the universe. So the Avengers decide to take a stand and defeat Thanos once and for all. I’m gonna stop talking about the story because I don’t want to go into spoiler territory. This film has surpassed Infinity War! It was not only a great follow up to one of the best MCU movies, it was a great conclusion to certain arcs of these characters! They’ve done a great job building up each solo character and have their films bring something new and exciting. Endgame is the game changer that delivers the ultimate climax of the story arc with Thanos going up against the Avengers. The Russo Brothers’ direction was fantastic and they did a great job in delivering a spectacular climax to the MCU! The story was amazing. For a three hour long film. The film does move pretty fast and kind of feels short when watching it. I did feel like this film is a little short on the action set pieces like the previous films. Which this film focus more on the emotional connections with the original Avengers like Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, and Clint Barton and how they were all affected by the aftermath of Infinity War. The film does have a lot of fun and feels like a wild adventure with what these characters go through. The humor is also hilarious like the other Marvel films! Like the scene where the Hulk takes pictures with these fans of the Hulk. And Scott asks them if they want to take a picture with them. And Rocket delivers so many hilarious lines!

The characters in the film were still energetic and had full of heart! Thanos was even more intimidating as he was in Infinity War. I was also surprisingly surprised with how they continued Thanos’ character. He’s not really in the film very much which CAN be seen as somewhat disappointing, but honestly, I didn’t mind it. He’s still the best villain this series could have! I love how they did Clinton in this film! He wasn’t always the best member in the Avengers, but trust me, this film had made him more than just a guy who’s good at using a bow and arrow. They made him more impactful and sympathetic! The action scenes were phenomenal, especially during the final battle involving the Avengers and Thanos! There was this one spectacular scene involving Captain America! I won’t tell you what that scene was about, but it did lead to a thunderous applause in my theater! That scene made Thor’s entrance in Wakanda look like nothing! This film was also more emotional and intense than Infinity War! As more characters die! I won’t give out who dies, but they made me cry twice! The final hour delivers all out with an epic climax which every character has a moment to shine! And makes up for the lack of action in the film! I love how every hero works with another when fighting their enemy! The climatic battle fight scene with Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man teaming up and bouncing coming throughout. The surprises do keep on coming throughout. Which will leave you feeling satisfied! The visuals are top notch fantastic! I’m gonna talk about the ending, so I won’t give away any important details. The final 15 minutes is so impactful and emotional that also surpassed the ending of Infinity War! It also made me cry!

Overall, Avengers: Endgame is now my favorite movie in the MCU! It’s one of the best finales that Joe and Anthony Russo have delivered! The plot was amazing and fast moving. The direction focuses more on the emotional side of the characters and story. Whole delivering an epic climatic showdown that will have you grasping and excited. There’s no post credit scene, but you should stay until the credits starts to roll because it’s really impactful for those who were fans of the MCU for 11 years. This was definitely worth the year wait. It’s too bad the Russo Brothers will be done with Marvel after this. They have been amazing directors.

Score: 10/10
