Top 10 Best Movies of 2020
From a rough start back in December 2018 to becoming one of the biggest movies of 2020, this movie caught me off-guard. I was on the "this movie will probably suck" bandwagon right after the first trailer dropped, but once November came around, it was an immediate 180 from there. Not only is this movie giving older fans of the Blue Blur delightful easter eggs to the franchise left and right ("Gotta Go Fast" and a 'Sanic' reference were some of my favorite), but it allows those who don't know the first thing about Sonic to have some fun with it or even consider dipping their toes into the series for themselves. Not too many jokes fell flat for me (besides some flossing and fart jokes-- this is a family movie, what'd you expect?), and I even let out a couple laughs in the process. The pacing is initially slow, but picks up speed quickly about a fourth of the way through; you're never left bored or confused, and it will keep you entertained for what it's worth. Enjoyed the visuals ...more
I'm gonna be brutally honest here, 2020 didn't produce very good films. It's probably because of the whole situation with COVID, in which I hope you all remain safe. But most "good" movies of 2020 are family movies. Most family movies aren't considered to be "great" unless their like Disney or DreamWorks. Let's see what I thought was good about the movies in 2020. Sonic was actually good for a live action movie, Onward was also pretty good, Hamilton is great (although it isn't even a movie and it came out in 2016 not 2020, they made it into a film version this year), Invisible Man was okay, the Justice League movie was actually surprisingly good, and lastly, TENET was awesome, also The Gentlemen. Every other movie this year, I'm neutral about or I think they suck.
This movie is so good. First off, we got a redesign, which proves the people wanted this movie to be really good. Next, the characters and plot is likeable. I thought the humans would be confusing, but they actually seem right in this movie after we learned about them. I also like the many references in this movie that sonic fans will enjoy, but the references doesn't distract you from the movie. The message is also cool. This and detective pikachu proved live action game movies can be good. I also like how we see tails at the end, which means we will most likely get a sequel, especially because Tails was looking for Sonic. All in all S tier movie. Not only best movie of 2020, but best movie EVER MADE! - MarioMaster101 (I forgot my information so I just wrote my profile name)
I think this is a good movie. Sure the story is generic and the acting is just OK but I think it is great visually and I was laughing a lot watching this movie. They made a lot of good jokes out of Sonic's speed and Jim Carrey's performance as Eggman was just amazing. Also I love how the crazy guy's drawing of Sonic looks like Sanic. That's just awesome. Sure there were a few problems but this is better than most video game movies out there and it's great that they fixed Sonic's original design because the movie might have done worse if they didn't fix it. It cost a delay for the movie but it was worth it in my opinion. Overall I recommend it.
Even though a lot of people didn't see it as one of Pixar's best, I still liked it as there's still a lot of heart and goofy, fun jokes and good characters. Maybe it's not on the tier of movies like Up or Toy Story but at least it doesn't try to recycle all of Inside Out's plot elements like Pixar will need to avoid doing in the future, as good as Inside Out is.
Has got to be one of the most underrated Pixar movies of recent times. Yeah sure, it isn't as iconic as say Coco or Toy Story, but it's still a really emotional and deep film which Pixar really poured their heart and soul into. If I had a complaint about, I guess there was a little..., too much action? For this type of movie, I felt the constant twists were a little too much and took away some of the enjoyment, but I still loved the film. One of Pixar's best honestly.
I loved it! It was so funny! And isn't anyone happy that Tom Holland (SpiderMan!) and Chris Pratt (Star Lord!) got to do something outside of Marvel together?! That must've been fun!
Ok, I love Pixar, but this movie sucked. Hands down the worst Pixar movie ever. I know KIDS who were bored by it, and one even said it was TOO CHEESY. If you can't even get your target audience to watch it, then you know it failed. 1/10.
I honestly can't think of any other person besides Margot Robbie who can play Harley to such a tee. Even though I think the story in this film is extremely flawed, you gotta admit, it was fun to watch.
Way better than sonic and onward! Amazing action, soundtrack, story, and acting.
Fantastic, funny and heartwarming film!
This movie was good and I love harley
Probably one of the most well-made films of all time, on the level of Studio Ghibli. It has a far deeper message than any Pixar film, let alone american film. I expected it to be a low-key Inside Out rehash, but it came with far more twists than I imagined. Definitely one of the best Pixar movies. It's a shame it won't get much recognition due to not having been released to theaters, but either way, it's a masterpiece
It was very funny, but very...what's the word...soulful. It was a little bit scary too. The whole time I was watching, I was thinking, 'What if that happens to me?' So a bit scary too.
Soulful (sorry) and beautiful movie. Funny and intriguing and mystical at the same time. Not the best Pixar movie, but certainly lives up to our expectations.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do I need Disney+ to watch Pixar films? Can I see them in the cinemas?
Suspense done right. The Invisible Man is a scary, tense, and anxiety-inducing film that will keep you invested from start to finish, and it's ofter scarier than what you can see. Elizabeth Moss gives us a realistic performance that shreds emotion throughout.
This movie is well worth a watch, even if you don't like horror movies.
Way more creepier than the original - Youtubemonster
Better than original tbh
Best film of the year EASILY.
I love this movie especially when Robert downy jr is in it
Surprised to see this 4th. I thought it was hated.
It was good to be honest
A beautiful twist on the series, with a more dark dramatic storyline while still keeping in the lighthearted comedy of the first two.
This movie felt strange to me because I had never watched the previous two but I was fun regardless. I guess, I'll vote for it too.
A surprisingly great entry to the Bad Boys series
Best of the year so far.
I love Scooby-Doo. I love all the monsters and mysteries, practically all the movies, but they have started to go overboard. You can't blame me. Think about it. They have about 3 whole different episode series of just this. Then, they came out with this movie! They added characters for more entertainment but that just made it worse. And there were practically no monsters in it what-so-ever. And I know it's supposed to be about their before life when they first got together and things like that, but I mean, if they wanted to do this, they should have done it at the beginning of all the other Scooby Doo movies. It's way to late now and they screwed it up. The main and overall issue is that all of the other Scooby-Doo movies have one thing in common: it has monsters. In this one, it's just about how Velma, Shaggy, Daphne, Fred, and Scooby all got together. There is no monsters in the movie when litterally the Scooby-Doo purpose is to be about monsters. If they had clue solving and ...more
Ok, I've been a HUGE Scooby-Doo fan my whole life. The mysteries are always original, the characters are creatively written, and I enjoy watching them even today. I hated this movie. It was NOT, in ANY WAY, a Scooby-Doo movie, even if he was featured. No mystery. No real suspense. The movie was basically Shaggy throwing a fit that Scooby removed the collar to SAVE THE FREAKING WORLD, while meaning no harm! Real mature, great job ruining Scooby-Doo and teaching impressionable youngsters that throwing a fit is ok. 2/10 tops.
It was ok in my opinion. I liked the cultural references, especially that f-bomb joke. It was quite entertaining to watch, but it was missing the mystery element of its source and Shaggy and Velma's voices don't fit in. If they are gonna do a sequel, hopefully it does better, and Shaggy and Velma get new voices. Overall, not the best movie of 2020, but pretty well done.
I wish there was a twist at the end. Shaggy sounded strange. I like that they talk about real stores and things like walmart, ikea, and netflix. They even got real people like Simon Cowell. Most kid movies have a lot of fake stuff which makes the movie boring.
Amazing movie, full of tension comedy and an overall solid story
An American direct-to-video adult animated science fantasy superhero film produced by Warner Bros. Animation and distributed by Warner Home Video.
Awesome movie all the action just so amazing
They killed everyone, but I heard it's good.
Mulan is my favorite Disney "princess" because she shows that women can be stronger than men and I really love that. Even though this movie starts off rasict. I love the filming and what new characters they put into it. But they sorta screwed it up without Mushu, the dragon. It's not as good as the first one though. I loved the witch and I LOVED how the Hans could walk on walls- that was some serious and epic filming. I think this movie should be at least 10. My favorite part of the movie is all of it. This movie proves that women can be stronger than men.
Underrated for sure.
"Lazy cash grab that "dishonors" the original film and even its straight to video sequel" - Well, it's not supposed to be a remake of the animated film, but rather a different telling of the story that's closer to the original poem.
People only hate this because of nostalgia bias towards the 1998 film. It’s really not that bad if you realize it’s not supposed to be a direct remake of the 1998 movie and closer to the original ballad.
#BoycottMulan Don't support a company and actress that support a totalitarian regime blatantly oppressing people and perpetrating a genocide
I watched it and it mostly feels like a really long episode. It's like 30% movie, 70% indistinguishable from a normal episode.
Wish I could vote for this multiple times
I haven't watched it yet but I liked the TV show so I gave this a vote
Sal Vulcano is based.
One of the weakest Christopher Nolan movies, but he made some of my favorite movies, so don't think that this is a bad thing, I would still say that this is the best movie of 2020 (if Hamilton doesn't count).
Got an early screening of this film and it is Nolan's best film to date. This deserves to be in the top 10.
nolans miami vice
Amazing musical! Please don’t pull this. Like Lin Manuel Miranda said “It’s the story of America then told by America now”. Every single moment of this was stunning.
I LOVED the plot and casting for this movie! Each character has their own personality, and It was overall an amazing movie.
I personally don't count this as a movie, but if I would it would definitely be my favorite movie of the year so far.
This movie left me very satisfied.
An amazing, epic film.
It is the best
Another great Spongebob movie where I laughed tears! Very entertaining and full of humour! An absolute recommendation for every Spongebob fan!
Not as good as the first two films, but it's still very fun to watch.
Great movie based on a great book. Great CGI dog and storyline! What more could a moviegoer want?
I went to see this with my friend, and this movie gave us all the feels!
This was like the only good movie of 2020. Harrison Ford, awesome cgi dog!
Whatever you say about the CGI, the rest of the movie is fantastic
How was this not on the list already? This slapped.
Bruh, how could you not like Shaun the Sheep
This movie was awesome regardless of what any hater says. I'm looking forward a sequel. Make it happen, Sony!
I love this movie
I haven't been a big fan of Trolls. The first one gave me goosebumps because the goblins were very ugly. This new movie was much better than the first one but it's definitely not a 5 star. Maybe a 3 and a half or something but it was much better than the first and it had music which made it better.
This is the THIRD one actually, I saw the 2nd one and BOY did it suck! It was called Trolls Holiday. Pretty sure it was and still is on Netflix. Also, TELL HULU TO STOP SPAMMING ADS OF THE STINKIN' MOVIE! - Stakamakataka
Awesome, my family and I were all waiting for #2 and the movie did not disappoint!
I agree with you guys because the first one, was about the trolls got taken away from the Bergans
It's pretty good, but there are still better Christian bases movies out there like I Can Only Imagine. Good story, I just didn't get the emotional aspect of this film which it was aiming for.
