Top Ten Movies of 2014 with the Best Special Effects
This list compiles the movies released in 2014 that showcased the most masterful special effects work. You've seen it. You know I'm right.
The film won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, and, with it being so often compared to '2001: A Space Odyssey', at the time of its release, it's hardly a shock.
Probably one of the most realistic use of special effects in a movie that I have ever seen.
2011's 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' bolstered a lot of really impressive VFX work, but this film brought the visuals to a whole new level.
Somehow this movie is already being forgotten about and that amazes me. I loved this film. And I must say that the top-notch special effects really helped this film earn a high spot on my list of favorite movies (of the year).
The Transformers series has, since 2007, been a leader in the special effects department. The detail that goes into each Autobot and Decepticon is astonishing.
You would think that there wasn't a huge ton of CGI in this film upon viewing it for the first time. In reality, however, there was likely just as much as there was in Marvel's other 2014 film, 'Guardians'.
The movie was a crap-shoot in most ways but the one noticeable positive you can give this film is that the special effects (up until this point) have never looked better for the web-head.
(Arguably) the best in the X-Men series, 'DOFP' elevated the franchise with not just a great story but also the best visuals the series has had to date.
An underwhelm-er in terms of box office returns but an overachiever in terms of perfect special effects work.
I did not like this movie much (for a lot of reasons). I did, however, allow myself to become fully-immersed in the films visuals. You know Ridley Scott's not going to give us a movie with second rate visual effects.
