Top Ten Movies with the Worst Production Values

Sometimes, it seems like movie directors just don't care! If you really put time and effort into your movie, then you can make a really fantastic movie! But, all of the movies on this list have extremely low budgets (except for some of this movies, which have high budgets, but look like they spent it all on useless things) and definitely the worst production values.

The Top Ten

1 Foodfight!

I can't believe this movie has a budget of $45 million! I find that very hard to believe, given the movie's overall production values. Maybe the animators spent the budget on useless things. It seems like it costed $1.00 to make this movie. Extremely eye-gouging and horrendous animation. Also, the animation's lip-syncing is off-track. This movie has nightmare-inducing character models (Like the shopper lady). The old versions of said models are much better. The sound mixing is so bad, even the actors later acknowledged it. The motion-capture arm acting and facial expressions were terrible, with jokes and even rumors of how it was made using the Microsoft Kinect. Two notable examples would be when Doctor Si Nustrix (who has an extremely big nose) is talking to Dex, you can see in the background that Dan's looking like he's spazzing out. Another one would be when the Brand X army are marching, they constantly throw their hands around. - Cartoonfan202

Worst animated movie ever. That's all I can say. - Anonymousxcxc

2 Birdemic: Shock and Terror

The computer-generated imagery of the birds is putrid, think cut-and-paste from other sources. It's that bad. The birds seem like puppets instead of real birds. Birdemic: Shock and Terror also has terrible editing in both the film and the sound, including the infamous "HI! " from the beginning. - Cartoonfan202

I think this was done in the spirit of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes," purposely bad.

3 Cool Cat Saves the Kids

Amateurish and shoddy camera work. There are times where you can clearly see the cameraman's shadow or reflection off the glass doors. They only had enough money for one cat suit, which you can tell because when Cool Cat and his mom are "in the same room", you can notice that in the middle, a column of tiles are shorter than the rest, which is because they were filming at two different times and putting those two scenes together. This movie also has lazy editing and horrible effects, bad dubbing, and awful sound direction. - Cartoonfan202

Cool Cat saved my life. - cjWriter1997

4 Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny

Cheap and poor production values. The bunny is a cheap, creepy mascot costume who has trouble keeping his eyes to stay straight. And very poor special effects: the animals Thumbelina comes across are poorly made animal costumes with people in them, and when she flies away with swallow, you can see air conditioners below making the swallow fly. The Jack and the Beanstalk segment also has poor special effects, and this movie contains loads of padding. - Cartoonfan202

Just by looking at the title you know it's bad. "Ice Cream Bunny," really? - BlueTopazIceVanilla

5 The Room

This movie isn't as low quality as the other films on this list, but it still is shoddy. Tommy Wiseau gave almost no direction to the cast in the film. When Juliette Danielle asked for direction, Tommy Wiseau told her to watch the movie, Eyes Wide Shut, forcing Juliette to wing it as a villainess. Plus, the outdoor scenes use green screen instead of actually filming it outside. How lazy is that! - Cartoonfan202

6 Fun in Balloon Land Fun in Balloon Land

This is an obscure '60s "film" about a boring balloon parade. The special effects are terrible even by 1960's standards; none of the balloons have animated mouths that make them look like they are talking, so the company makes them appear static and are obviously moved around by the crew of the film. Speaking of the balloons talking, whenever they do, it's obviously someone off the camera who does a bored sounding voice for them. The balloons are so creepy looking (even for the 1960's) that they can give the Garbage Pail Kids, the Oogieloves, and the Ice Cream Bunny a run for their money for unintentionally creepy special effects for a kids film. - Cartoonfan202

7 Ben & Arthur

At one point, the characters are at a church, and it's just some guy's office with religious decorations and a cardboard cutout of a cross that's been colored in with a pencil taped to the walls. The film is so cheap and poorly made to the point that it manages to make Plan 9 from Outer Space look good by comparison. And speaking of Plan 9 from Outer Space... - Cartoonfan202

8 Plan 9 From Outer Space

Poor special effects. And all the scenes in the movie have many, many errors. (The most famous is the scene where in one shot, it's day but in the very next cut, it's night.) Overused stock-footage, awkward backgrounds, and when the actors accidentally hit the fake tombstone, it falls right down. They didn't even bother to re-shoot. - Cartoonfan202

When you click on the picture, its main selling point is that it's so bad, it's hilarious! I've never seen a movie so bad that the only way to get people to buy it is to tell them that it's bad. - BlueTopazIceVanilla

Oh god, how is this not number one? The production value has cardboard boxes for steering wheels and paper plates for UFOs - jack2244

9 Jurassic Park III

No this movie had good effects

10 Felix the Cat: The Movie Felix the Cat: The Movie

Ugly, terrible, cheap and obnoxious animation which some other scenes are been reused again and even to many errors (like Wack's shadow moving when Wack himself is holding still) thoughout the movie, and it had very badly editing in section 11. The character design is awful. Dreadful sound mixing where music and sound-effects are so loud, that have of the time you can barely hear what the characters are saying.
Poor editing. (Such as the scene where Princess Oriana's face just shows up in a random frame of the song: "Who Is the Boss") Creepy, awfully-done, and pointless 3D animation of Felix's head at the start. It even reappears at the start of the credits! And BAD lip syncing. - Cartoonfan202

The Contenders

11 After Last Season

The cover is pure cringe. The people on the front closing their eyes don't even have emotions. They look like stock photos or mannequins. - BlueTopazIceVanilla

If you think Birdemic is bad, wait til you see this. - Animeguy15

12 Escape From Tomorrow

The movie fails to properly use the Disney World setting and makes numerous, glaring inaccuracies. Crappy blue-screen that is extremely obvious. And although Disney is a harmless company in history, the movie goes out of its way to portray it as being evil, dangerous and demonic. The director went as far as comparing the company to a cult in a behind-the-scenes interview. While there are a couple of accidents in Disney World, they are not as frequent as this movie suggests. - Cartoonfan202

13 The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure
14 Jaws

Not this movie. But Jaws 3D has stupid 3D effects. - Cartoonfan202

15 Twilight Zone: The Movie

Remember the Helicopter Incident? - kcianciulli

16 The Lion King

Now this is getting ridiculous. Even if you don't like The Lion King, it still has wonderful animation. - Cartoonfan202

18 Jaws the Revenge
19 Independence Day: Resurgence
