The last fifteen to twenty years of his life, Michael Jackson was constantly bashed by media and the crowd alike. Whether it was false accusations of child abuse (really, google the two court cases. The stories of the "witnesses" were contradicting each other.), his plastic surgery or whatever else he did - before his death every single step he made was made fun of and the whole world joyfully observed his lengthy, painful downfall. It was not until his death that people reconsidered their behavior and opinion of him, when they realized how serious all of this really was.
