I used to find them pretty boring and uninteresting, but I never really disliked them. Honestly, Prog Rock music isn't for everyone and I can understand that. - Userguy44

I find prog rock one of the least boring genres. Boring/exciting doesn't depend on speed and heaviness in my opinion - Alkadikce

Honestly I think most of the people that would hate it only know it has their dads favorite band and therefore haven't listened to it to hate it.
That is the beauty of Prog music only those that don't mind longer songs in more intricate style will listen to it instead of those that only like catchy songs, not to say that pink floyd doesn't have some good catchy songs - germshep24

Well you can count me one of the haters. (sort of) I legit don't see why they're so praised. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing particularly good in my opinion, highly overrated. Maybe I just haven't heard the right songs?

Well, which songs have you heard? If you are a more mainstream music listener, try Learn to Fly, Money or Childhood's End. - Alkadikce

This is what I like about the beauty of time, when they first came out the were pretty hated, but once you become a classic band you just can't have as much hate - germshep24

I'm a fan of metal and rock and still appreciate classical music - SirSheep

Classical music was metal when metal wasn't invented yet: it could be violent, romantic, epic, or fantasy the four main emotions that you get from metal - germshep24

I have a friend who is big into classical music and dislikes Bach, at least in comparison to Beethoven and Mozart, as well as Chopen

I know about two big Dio haters on this site. The guys are metal haters who hate everything good in metal. Their comments are inaccurate yet mean and ugly. One of them added Dio to the list Worst Metal Singers and spam voted him to #1. The other one wrote dozens of mean comments on my lists, including that Dio is "an addled burnout", confusing Dio with Ozzy. The pathetic author of that comment didn't even know that Dio was in Black Sabbath and we were talking about a song/album with Dio and not Ozzy. - Metal_Treasure

He is even called overrated very few times, let alone bad. And this is a big achievement in a genre where half of the fans refuse anything popular or famous. - Alkadikce

He is an icon, I mean he had an entire album devoted to him by Jorn Lande. He is respected by metal artists and the metal community - germshep24

I can understand that, fans can be irrational about their favorite bands - germshep24

Sorry, I just realised what your comment means (you meant that there are two items you agree with). I thought you agreed with the other comment. - Alkadikce

I personally never get why he is considered the greatest classical composer of all time. He wrote some painfully over-estimated pieces like Symphony No.5, and Für Elise.

Edit: I didn't say I hate him, I just don't get why he is considered the best. Maybe I am just a "classical elitist", the classical version of a metal elitist:

"Oh, you listen to Beethoven? Poser! You should go and check Schlickschlockmäuser, he's 100x better." - Alkadikce

24 Deftones Deftones Deftones are an American alternative metal band from Sacramento, California. The band, which was founded in 1988, consists of Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Frank Delgado, Abe Cunningham and Sergio Vega.

They mainly are disliked because of the music scene they emerged from. Nu metal isn't the most highly well received genre out there. That being said, Deftones have surely stood the test of time. Their music is much more substantial and artistically engaging than a lot of their more popular peers that the band rose with back in their early days. - cjWriter1997

25 Testament Testament Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band consists of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve DiGiorgio and drummer Gene Hoglan.

A person who doesn't like metal would probably dislike them but they usually stop after hearing three Metallica songs.

Edit: I now regret putting them on this list. Every single album of theirs (apart from the debut) has a wide haterbase.
New Order: people hate the interludes, and the slightly repetitivd ideas in riffing
Practice What You Preach gets labelled as a 3rd rate Metallica clone, which it isn't
Souls of Black is described as boring and uninspired
The Ritual is hated for going softer and being musically a bit repetitive, "plodding"
Low's supposed flaw is going with the groove metal fashion
Demonic is considered their worst
The newer albums are hated for being a "lifeless corpse of a thrash band", making songs by arranging thrash cliches - Alkadikce

41 Aerosmith Aerosmith Aerosmith is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as "the Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band".

70s Aerosmith was awesome. In the 80s, they started doing more generic, sterile radio rock tunes and cushy ballads. The only modern album of theirs I like is Honkin' on Bobo (which is full of covers of blues songs). - Gg2000

I think a lot of people hate them in general: it's usually because of either their personality, the poppy nature of some of their songs, Noel Gallagher frequently borrowing or stealing from existing songs, the fact that none of their other albums are as good as the first two, and the fact that Liam Gallagher ruined his voice. I still enjoy them, but I refuse to deny their faults. - Gg2000
