Honestly I think most of the people that would hate it only know it has their dads favorite band and therefore haven't listened to it to hate it.
That is the beauty of Prog music only those that don't mind longer songs in more intricate style will listen to it instead of those that only like catchy songs, not to say that pink floyd doesn't have some good catchy songs

Sure, there must be people who hate Pink Floyd, but not near as many as Led Zeppelin or AC/DC haters that are equally famous. Pink Floyd is also probably the band that is the least times called overrated compared to its popularity, except in prog circles of course, but prog fans don't use the word overrated that much anyway.

Well you can count me one of the haters. (sort of) I legit don't see why they're so praised. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing particularly good in my opinion, highly overrated. Maybe I just haven't heard the right songs?

This is what I like about the beauty of time, when they first came out the were pretty hated, but once you become a classic band you just can't have as much hate

2 Frank Sinatra Francis Albert "Frank" Sinatra (December 12, 1915 – May 14, 1998) was an American singer, actor, and producer who was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century. I have seen people calling him "overrated", but I've never seen any of them claiming that they dislike him. I guess it is true.

At most people would call him overrated

3 Johann Sebastian Bach Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period. He is known for instrumental compositions such as the Brandenburg Concertos and the Goldberg Variations as well as for vocal music such as the St Matthew Passion and the Mass in B minor.

There are some classical music fans who don't like Mozart or Beethoven, but I haven't seen any so far who would hate Bach. And these three are the three most famous classical composers.

I have a friend who is big into classical music and dislikes Bach, at least in comparison to Beethoven and Mozart, as well as Chopen

I'm a fan of metal and rock and still appreciate classical music

4 Queen Queen are an English rock band formed in London in 1970. The original lineup was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and John Deacon (bass guitar, vocals). Before forming into Queen, Brian May and Roger Taylor had played together in a band named Smile. Freddie Mercury was a fan of Smile and encouraged them to experiment with more elaborate stage and recording techniques. He then joined the band in 1970, suggested "Queen" as a new band name, and adopted his familiar stage name. John Deacon was also recruited to complete the line-up. ...read more.

My friend with a very specific and delicate and passionate taste in music has a pretty strong dislike for them : he says they are "too commercial", and were "only interested in making arenas dance, and never interested in socio-political matters".

Songs are pretty decent, some are better than others, especially queen II songs, but that's about all there is to say. Nobody hates queen because they have good variety in there songs, onless your someone who follows trends, I don't see what you hate here

I love Queen's music & Freddie Mercury remains the ultimate rocker. I have some favourite artists but I'm not an over-the-top fanatic about them.

There are people who dislike them, unfortunately. However, I've never seen a reason besides them being "overrated".

I know about two big Dio haters on this site. The guys are metal haters who hate everything good in metal. Their comments are inaccurate yet mean and ugly. One of them added Dio to the list Worst Metal Singers and spam voted him to #1. The other one wrote dozens of mean comments on my lists, including that Dio is "an addled burnout", confusing Dio with Ozzy. The pathetic author of that comment didn't even know that Dio was in Black Sabbath and we were talking about a song/album with Dio and not Ozzy.

He is an icon, I mean he had an entire album devoted to him by Jorn Lande. He is respected by metal artists and the metal community

Is this a JoJo's reference?

Any artist that has dead just isn't going to be hated unless they had did a terrible thing in their live. The worst you'll get are the people that get made when someone says he invented rock

Well, he is the "King of Rock and Roll".

One of two on this list I agree with

A lot of people hate him.

10 Neil Peart Neil Ellwood Peart, (September 12, 1952 - January 7, 2020) was a Canadian musician and writer best known as the drummer and primary lyricist of the rock band Rush. Peart received numerous awards for his musical performances, including an induction into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1983, making him the youngest person ever so honoured. His drumming was renowned for its technical proficiency, and his live performances for their exacting nature and stamina.

I have never heard someone trash talk Neil's drumming in my life. Ever.

I wonder if anybody has said it ever that he is a bad drummer.

Love how he plays drums

The Contenders

Blackflower I can respect that!
They are though, however, one of the most important rock bands!

Never listened to them so can't say a bad thing about them

Better than Taylor Swift.

Have you suffered brainwashing through a documentary called Leaving Neverland. Even though it has not been proven, his music has now been banned from radio stations, Stark Raving Dad (Simpsons) has been banned from television even though... Put him in with the big white guy who thinks he's the little black guy. He's 300 pounds, He's white He's dressed without flair. Hey, Looney Tunes, this is what Michael Jackson looks like. You look like a big, fat mental patient.
Big FAT mental patient.

There are people who dislike him. But it's usually not because of his music, but because of all the child molestation accusations, which I'm tired of hearing from.

I'm surprised he isn't on the list, the only pop artist that even hardcore metal-heads can appreciate

People hate him because they say he did some bad stuff with kids.
Which he didn't.

14 Rush Rush was a Canadian progressive rock band that was formed in 1968. The band has had an iconic lineup since 1975, which included Neil Peart (Drums, Percussion), Geddy Lee (Vocals, Bass, Keyboards), and the guitarist, Alex Lifeson. Peart passed away after a 3 year battle with brain cancer in January of 2020. Because of this, Lee says there are no plans to keep the band going, so Rush is most likely defunct. The band has become one of the most well-known progressive rock bands in the world, with such albums as "2112", "Hemispheres" and "Moving Pictures". More than half of their albums have gone gold or platinum, as certified by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America).

My peculiar friend dislikes them because eh they made albums in the eighties so they must be bad.

I don't like them. They're pretty uninteresting and Geddy Lee is a horrible singer.

I also don't like Geddy's voice even though he is a great bassist.

I'm personally not a fan of them, sorry to say it but it's true.

15 Gorillaz Gorillaz are an English virtual band created in 1998 by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The band consists of four animated members: 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs.

One of the most well praised Electronic artists I think.

They are quite talented

I found another hate comment about him (2pac sucked! In my opinion Lamar is the best Rapper of all time! And this great song tells for him self)

Very few people seem to dislike his music but even Tupac isn't safe from people who just automatically reject anything hip hop related.

21 Soundgarden Soundgarden was an American grunge/alternative metal band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and rhythm guitarist Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Chris Cornell died on May 17th, 2017.

My friend who has a very passionate sense of what music should be told me : "Why do you hurt yourself with that '90s mud? "

Nobody hated Chris Cornell so far as I know.

22 David Bowie David Robert Jones, known professionally as David Bowie (January 8, 1947 - January 10, 2016) was an English singer born in London, the son of a fundraiser and a waitress. He is credited for his experimental and creative musical discography which has won praise and accolades for many critics and fans. The man who the world knew as David Bowie was an actor, a painter, a philosopher, and many other things. But first and foremost, and what he was known for most, he was a rock star, covering every genre from psychedelic folk to industrial. His influence on fashion, music, and pop culture in general remains as his legacy--along, of course, with his unforgettable music.
23 Weird Al Yaknovic Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic is an American singer, songwriter, parodist, record producer, satirist, actor, voice actor, music video director, film producer, and author.

No one should

24 Testament Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band consists of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve DiGiorgio and drummer Gene Hoglan.

A person who doesn't like metal would probably dislike them but they usually stop after hearing three Metallica songs.

Edit: I now regret putting them on this list. Every single album of theirs (apart from the debut) has a wide haterbase.
New Order: people hate the interludes, and the slightly repetitive ideas in riffing
Practice What You Preach gets labelled as a 3rd rate Metallica clone, which it is
Souls of Black is described as boring and uninspired
The Ritual is hated for going softer and being musically a bit repetitive, "plodding"
Low's supposed flaw is going with the groove metal fashion
Demonic is considered their worst
The newer albums are hated for being a "lifeless corpse of a thrash band", making songs by arranging thrash cliches

Another edit: you can now count me to the dislikers

25 The Strokes The Strokes are an American rock band formed in New York City in 1998.
