7 Annihilator Annihilator is a Canadian thrash metal band founded in 1984 by vocalist, guitarist, bassist, songwriter, engineer, producer, mixer and mastering engineer Jeff Waters and former vocalist John Bates.

I see the list title was changed - the original title focused on bands who were good since the beginning but the current title focuses on popularity. With the new title metal bands will be underrated because metal is an underground genre and most of the best metal bands never become popular. Example - Justin Bieber is very popular but Annihilator are 1,000,000x better than him (both acts are Canadian).

Their debut album Alice In Hell (1989) earned them respect immediately among the metal musicians. Even Dave Mustaine was impressed and asked Jeff Waters to join Megadeth as a lead guitarist. Jeff declined because he wanted to be independent and play own music.

Yeah, the original title was supposed to be best nor popular.otherwise I wouldn't add boston cause they are underrated since the beginning

Yeah @Metal_Treasure is right it was "Best" not "Popular"

8 Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin was an English hard rock band formed in London in 1968 as the New Yardbirds. The group consisted of Robert Plant (Vocal), Jimmy Page (Guitar), John Paul Jones (Bass, Keyboard) and John Bonham (Drums) and was very much the child of Jimmy Page who even financed their first tour. He had tasted some previous success with The [original] Yardbirds and was friendly with some big names in rock. Page states it was Keith Moon of The Who that claimed the band could only go down, like a lead balloon -- thus prompting the iconic name of Led Zeppelin. The band's heavy, guitar-driven sound, rooted in blues and psychedelia on their early albums, has earned them recognition as one of the progenitors ...read more.

Completely and totally WRONG.
The Yardbirds were formed in 1964, and evolved first with Eric Clapton, then Jeff Beck, and finally Jimmy Page. They were very popular.
Then singer Keith Relf left the band, and Page hired Robert Plant, calling the band "the New Yardbirds"
People were confused, so Page changed the name again to Led Zeppelin.
