Top Ten Music Genres that are Hated for the Wrong Reasons

The Top Ten

1 Pop

So many complaints I've heard about pop music are either incorrect, or don't necessarily make it bad. Like, the stereotype that they don't use real instruments. Not only can electronic music sound great (and music using real instruments sound like crap), but a lot of pop music does use real instruments. Also, it takes talent to make a good pop song, just like any other genre. Wanna know why an extremely limited selection of music is remembered decades later, pop or not? Because most of it, regardless of genre, is forgettable and/or crap. - Zach808

I don't hate it. I've just grown up. - Britgirl

I like when some pop elements are used in rock songs - zxm

They say it's satanic! No it's not! Metalheads don't understand this. - Neonco31

"Rap is too violent! Think of the children! " "Rap isn't real music! They don't even sing! "

1. Music isn't meant to always express positive sentiments. It's art.
2. Who are you to decide what's "real" music?

People who hate this genre are so stupid sometimes... - Zach808

Seriously. You're first mistake was thinking it's music.

Your first mistake is being ignorant and intolerant about what type of music people listen to. - Arcxia

5 Dubstep

This especially applies to the modern wave of dubstep known as "brostep." The genre not only requires way more talent than the haters of it think (then again, that could be said about any genre that people say requires no talent), but it's also one that is a very rewarding experience with some loud, aggressive bangers that make one want to party, some emotionally driven tracks (like Circles and Raise Your Weapon), and even some non-agressive tracks (like chillstep). It's a lot more than just "noise." - NiktheWiz

Soulless, artificial noise. Good enough reason for me.

11 Metal

If someone wants to make some satanic or controversial album, they should be able to. Doesn't mean I have to like it, but it isn't a reason to attack the genre either. Some of the darkest, ugliest music can be great if it's done well. - Zach808

There are SO many RIGHT reasons. No need to mess around with the wrong ones.

Yes, I know why some people hate it. Because of some extreme metal genres. for example - black metal. when some people who've never listened metal music, they find it hard to listen these songs. but I can assure that prog metal and heavy metal will rock for them. - zxm

Metal is sometimes attacked for the wrong reasons like people saying its satanic. - Arcxia

12 Classical

People say that classical music is boring. That is wrong. Classical music has a lot of dynamic contrast, expression, instruments, and more! It is so good! No repetition in melodies, I just love it!

17 Punk Punk Punk rock is a subgenre of rock music. It usually has rebellious lyrics and down stroked power chords played on guitars. Bad Religion, Sex Pistols, and Green Day (actually pop-punk, which is still punk in a way) are a few punk rock bands. The subgenre influenced thrash metal because of it's down stroked more.

19 Soul Soul Soul music (often referred to simply as soul) is a popular music genre that originated in the African American community in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz.
