The Top Ten

1 Metal

Feel the danger, see the glory
Hear the thunder of a heavy metal
It will take you, hypnotize you
Raise your fist with a rebel yell

I am metal and I'll never die
We are metal and we'll never die

I will crank you up
You can't bring me down
I will make you high
Metal will never die

10/10 Energetic, hard. It makes you get pumped. - LightningStrike

10/10.Just perfect for me. - HEAVYMETALTHUNDER12345

2 Classical Classical

Best genre of music ever! Goes at top of my list. A lot of expression, dynamic contrast, instruments, it is so good!

Great for the time, but boring now 4/10 - LightningStrike

10/10 the most important genre ever. - HEAVYMETALTHUNDER12345

3 Blues Blues Blues is a music genre and musical form originated by African Americans in the Deep South of the United States around the end of the 19th century.

My rating for Blues goes off the scale. - Britgirl

9/10.Very important genre - HEAVYMETALTHUNDER12345

5 Electronic Electronic
6 Jazz Jazz

9.5 / 10. I totally love traditional Jazz and big band swing but there are some modern Jazz I'm not keen on and some subgenres such as Acid-Jazz. - Britgirl

7 Thrash Metal Thrash Metal Thrash Metal is a Heavy Metal subgenre developed during the early 1980s and an early precursor of Extreme Metal. Thrash Metal features a faster and more aggressive guitar work than Traditional Metal with shredding and double-bass drums and can range from melodic singing to loud shouts. more.

9.9/10 from me. Fast, heavy and energetic with great riffs, solos and very often - really meaningful lyrics. The only small disadvantage for me is that some thrash bands tend to overuse the snare drums. - Metal_Treasure

7.5/10.Can't rate it higher because the bands overuse the Snare drum, and the blast beats. There has not been a great thrash band since the early 90s,modern thrash bands are super generic. No originality at all.And some of the bands cross the line between Hardcore punk and thrash. Some of them are more Punk than Metal. - HEAVYMETALTHUNDER12345

8 Country

Boring, but decent for environmental stuff 3/10 - LightningStrike

Classic Country - 8.9/10
Modern Country (21st century) - a low 2/10. It just doesn't have that same typical Country feel to it. It certainly doesn't have the heart that classic Country music has. - Britgirl

9 Folk

The older I get, I'm finding that I appreciate Folk more. I think 7/10 is a pretty decent rating. I prefer classic 60s/70s Folk though. - Britgirl

10 Ambient

The Contenders

11 Pop

Awesome genre! But it got ruined by the music that we have today 5/10 - LightningStrike

Older Pop 6/10.
Modern Mainstream Pop 0/10. - HEAVYMETALTHUNDER12345

6/10 overall but some pop artists themselves get a 10/10 - PeeledBanana

Old Pop: 8/10
Modern Mainstream Pop: 2/10 - Userguy44

12 Art Rock
13 Black Metal

7/10.The music has a great atmospere, but the bands get repetitive sometimes. - HEAVYMETALTHUNDER12345

14 Power Metal

8/10. Not very heavy but a very demanding metal subgenre. It's pretty fast and melodic, with the best clean vocals in metal. Lyrics are very good, close to poetry.
Disadvantage: many bands cross the thin line between melodic metal and pop-like crap, and make the whole subgenre sound cheesy. But if done correctly, power metal is awesome - Blind Guardian play the heaviest and most complex version of power metal. - Metal_Treasure

15 Grunge Grunge Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is a subgenre of alternative rock and a subculture that emerged during the mid-1980s.

7/10. I like some Grunge, but not everything. - Userguy44

16 Blues Rock Blues Rock Blues rock is a fusion genre combining elements of blues and rock. It is mostly an electric ensemble-style music with instrumentation similar to electric blues and rock: electric guitar, electric bass, and drums, often with Hammond organ.
17 Rap

Its decent for some mood and is catchy, but it got ruined by butts 4/10 - LightningStrike

I hate it.But I know that some rappers actually put effort on their music.1/10. - HEAVYMETALTHUNDER12345

5/10. I don’t like rap, but I still respect the talented rappers. - Userguy44
