Top 10 Music Icons Who are Not So Good at Singing

The Top Ten
1 Bob Dylan Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter, author, and artist who has been an influential figure in popular music and culture for more than five decades.

Horrible, I can't stand him. I admit, that he is a good songwriter, but you can't listen him, so I don't care about his lyrics, because I get a headache every time I hear his voice.

He is a good sing writer but has no voice, so it's very funny, that he is above Freddie Mercury in Rolling Stone Magazine's best singers list of all time.

Sounds good on most of the studio recorded songs, but he's a terrible live singer.

2 Ozzy Osbourne John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne was born on December 3, 1948. He is also known as ''The Prince of Darkness''. Ozzy is an English singer, songwriter, and television personality. He rose to prominence in the early 1970s as the lead vocalist of the band Black Sabbath. Osbourne was fired from Black Sabbath... read more

His vocals are actually very monotonous and annoying, I bet if he wouldn't cited as the godfather of metal people would not even like him...

Ozzy used to have an interesting voice in his early days with Black Sabbath but still it wasn't as good as some other rock legends voices.

3 Dave Mustaine David Scott "Dave" Mustaine (born September 13, 1961) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, actor and author. Mustaine is best known as a pioneer in Thrash Metal, being the former lead guitarist of Metallica before his dismissal in 1983, leading to finding and becoming the front man of his own... read more

Dave is one of the best guitar players out there and my favorite song writer but his voice is weird and sounds annoying at times.

Yes, he was created for a guitarist, not for a singer...

4 Britney Spears Britney Jean Spears, born on December 2, 1981, is an American former singer and actress. She was born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. As a child, she performed acting roles in stage productions and television shows, such as "The Mickey Mouse Club," before signing with Jive... read more

She has an okay voice. It's average. It's easily recognizable though and fits the tone of the music. When you listen to the time when her music was really good in her genre, which was from her first album to "In the Zone", you'll recognize she often voice acts in her song to transport the mood, whether it is shyness ("U Drive Me Crazy"), sexiness ("I'm a Slave 4 U"), strength ("Stronger") or sadness ("every time"). You always buy it. She's not a technically great singer, but she certainly has enough charisma to back it up and has great producers and songwriters behind her. Now ever since her music relied so much on Autotune and exchangeable stomping house beats, that took everything that was interesting about her.

5 Eminem Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is an American rapper, actor and music producer born on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Eminem has sold over 300 million records making him the bestselling hip-hop artist of all time. In addition to his solo career, he is a member of D12 and (with Royce... read more

The best rapper ever in my opinion but a really bad singer, he should have used some other singers to sing his chorouses like in his most legendary songs.

6 Lou Reed Lewis Allan "Lou" Reed (March 2, 1942 – October 27, 2013) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was the guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter of the Velvet Underground, and his solo career spanned five decades... read more

He is an icon but not for his singing abilities but for his musical vision, I think.

Yes, sometimes I feel like he tried to singing like Bob Dylan...

7 Ringo Starr Richard Starkey known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who gained worldwide fame as the drummer for the Beatles.

Having him here is kind of strange to be honest because although he did sing a couple of songs he was primarily famous as a drummer so if he is here people like Jimi Hendrix should be as well.

Ringo is a nice guy and a cool drummer at times but as far as The Beatles go his voice is by far the worst out of the Fab Four.

8 Matt Shadows Matthew Charles Sanders, better known by his stage name M. Shadows, is an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist, songwriter and founding member of the American metalcore/alternative metal band Avenged Sevenfold.

Avenged Sevenfold are great but M Shadows is their weakness because of his weak voice, he may sounds like Axl Rose and Mike Patton at times but he's not great as them.

9 James LaBrie Kevin James LaBrie is a Canadian vocalist and songwriter, who is best known as the lead singer of the American progressive metal band Dream Theater.

He was great back in the 90's but later on he became somewhat annoying because of the damage that his vocal chords got.

The main reason I can't enjoy Dream Theatre that much.

10 Geddy Lee Gary Lee Weinrib, known professionally as Geddy Lee, is a Canadian musician, singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist, bassist, and keyboardist for the Canadian rock group Rush.

I can't stand his voice. So sad, because Rush is a really talented band, but I can't listen to any of their songs because his voice is so bad.

The only reason I can't fully enjoy Rush songs.

The Contenders
11 Mick Jagger Sir Michael Philip "Mick" Jagger is an English singer, songwriter, and actor, best known as the lead vocalist and a co-founder of the Rolling Stones.

Acclaimed only because of the Rolling Stones, not more.

12 Selena Gomez Selena Marie Gomez is an American actress and singer. She is best known for songs like "Come & Get It", "Good For You", "Same Old Love", and "It Ain't Me". Selena Gomez's voice is mezzo-soprano but she usually sings in alto. She is best known for her role as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place.
13 Yoko Ono Yoko Ono is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist who is also known for her work in performance art, music, and filmmaking. Singer-songwriter John Lennon of the Beatles was her third husband.

Her voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard. It's unbearable!

Have you heard her sing? Sounds quite terrible.

Yes, unlike other female singer she's not very great in ballads.

17 Johnny Rotten John Joseph Lydon, also known by his former stage name Johnny Rotten, is an English singer, songwriter, and musician.

The Sex Pistols were Punk icons and I really love the guitar work of Steve Jones but Johnny was an awful singer for me, like most Punk vocalists.

18 Beyonce Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, is an American singer and actress, who started out in the popular pop/r&b girl group Destiny's Child. They had multiple top 5 hits such as "No, No, No", "Say My Name", "Bills, Bills, Bills", "Survivor", "Independent Women", "Bootylicious", and "Jumpin', Jumpin" from... read more

All of her costumes, dancing, stage choreography, etc. are there to cover up the fact that she is a mediocre singer at best. At least Bob Dylan really writes his songs, Beyoncé has the clout to make sure she is in the same room with a 5 or 6 pro songwriters, which insures she gets credit even if she only contributed an "oooh baby" to the lyrics.

19 Rebecca Black Rebecca Black is a YouTube personality and singer who's infamous for her 2011 single "Friday," which was the most disliked video on YouTube until "Baby" by Justin Bieber became the most disliked video in 2012. She has also released other songs, including "My Moment" and "Saturday".
