Top 10 Worst Song Samples of 2023

After 2022, it looks like 2023 will be yet another year of gimmicky samples and artists ruining classic hits. What do you think are the worst song samples of 2023?
The Top Ten
1 Mother - Meghan Trainor

Not only is Meghan Trainor more obnoxious than ever on this track, she also ruined a 1950s classic: "Mr. Sandman"

2 Hands on Me - Jason Derulo

This song is not only an insult to "Stand By Me", it's also an insult to music! It's so excruciatingly bad it makes "Marvin Gaye" by Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor sound creative in comparison. Whoever allowed this to be released should be fired. This song deserves to burn in hell and will very likely take the title of grossest song sample of the year!

3 My Body - Coi Leray
4 Baby Don't Hurt Me - David Guetta, Anne-Marie & Coi Leray

After the smash success of "I'm Good (Blue)", David Guetta phones it in by lazily sampling Haddaway's "What Is Love", one of the greatest dance tracks of all time, and not changing the chorus. Congratulations David Guetta, you managed to make a song worse than "I'm Good (Blue)".

David Guetta needs to stop ruining timeless classics and go back to making original songs.

5 Let's Ride (Trailer Anthem) - YG & The Notorious B.I.G.

Someone here had the audacity to sample the piano riff from "Notorious Thugs" and wash it up to death. Not only does it sink a song that is already baseline mediocre, it's also a huge disrespect of Biggie's legacy, so please let the man rest!

6 Crying on the Dancefloor - Sam Feldt, Jonas Blue & Dzeko

And now we have not one, not two but THREE DJs riding David Guetta's coattails by lazily sampling "Better Off Alone", another classic 90s dance track that producers can't get enough of. This is pure EDM laziness at its most obnoxious and insulting.

7 Make My Day - Coi Leray & David Guetta

David Guetta needs to stop ruining the classics. Please deprive him from each and every classic hit in existence. His massacre needs to stop as soon as possible.

8 When Love Sucks - Jason Derulo

Aaaah here we go again! This is just what Jason Derulo needed to stay relevant. Dido's vocals are so washed up it hurts. This is an insult not only to Dido's "Thank You" but also to Eminem's "Stan". Speaking of Em, he should diss Jason Derulo in his next song or album.

9 Praising You - Rita Ora

Rita Ora ruined "Praise You" and turned it into trash.

10 Airplanes - Adam Ulanicki

The Newcomers

? Loca Loca - R3hab & Pelican
The Contenders
11 Dientes - J Balvin, Usher & DJ Khaled

This song doesn't just lazily sample "Yeah!" by Usher, it completely ruins it. Not even Usher himself can save the song and he is here to remind us he's way past his prime. Also, what is Not a DJ Khaled doing here?

12 The Corner - Sigma

Yet another lazy and forgettable sample of "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega.

13 California Girl - Crash Adams
14 Jumpin - Pitbull & Lil Jon

A terrible remix of "Jump Around" by House of Pain.

15 Rock My Body - R3hab, Inna & Sash!

The chorus lazily samples "Ecuador" by Sash! Another 90s dance song that producers seemingly can't get enough of

16 Swag Like Ohio, Pt. 2 - Trippie Redd & Lil B
17 Phuck It - Coi Leray

Or how to ruin a classic Daft Punk song. Heck, even Busta Rhymes' "Touch It" did a better job at sampling "Technologic".

18 Alone Again - Chico Rose
19 Endless Fashion - Lil Uzi Vert
20 Better Off (Alone, Pt. III) - Alan Walker, Dash Berlin & Vikkstar

Oh great, yet another lazy sample of "Better Off Alone". Haven't we heard this song enough already?

21 Stay (Never Leave) - Kris Kross Amsterdam, SERA & Conor Maynard

This track is cannibalized by its sample of "Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)" by Lumidee, which is the only interesting part. Shows how lazy and hollow it is, sadly.

22 Alone - Kim Petras

This song is cannibalized by its "Better Off Alone" sample.

23 Hot Inn Heree - Yuno Miles
24 Dogs - IShowSpeed & Kai Cenat

This song slaughtered Baja Men's "Who Let The Dogs Out", which was actually a decent song from the 90's. And it's also by iShowSpeed, who is one of the worst YouTubers of all time in my opinion. This song definitely deserves more time in the doghouse than to ever become a single. *no pun intended*

25 Hey, Mickey! - Baby Tate & Saweetie
