Top 10 My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Villains

The Top Ten
1 Queen Chrysalis Queen Chrysalis is a female changeling who serves as the main antagonist for the season 2 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She appears again later in the show, and teams up with other villains

I often vote for Chrysalis on this voting thing, and this is the first time I've commented about her. To put it simply, she is the best villain in the show without any competition whatsoever! In fact, she is my favorite villain in the history of all time! Her fight scene in Season 9 with Starlight Glimmer is my second favorite fight scene in the show. Starlight is the best good guy, and Chrysalis is the best bad guy, and they come together to duke it out - awesome! It would have been perfect if the two hadn't been monologuing so much! Speaking of perfection, her song was just perfect, the kind of song I dreamed of since I was small! Anyone who participates in this voting should do us all a favor and vote for Chrysalis!

2 Discord Discord, also known as the Spirit of Disharmony, is a former-antagonist-turned-supporting-protagonist in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Nothing special to say here besides... Discord ist the Pure chaos and that's what he makes him what he is. Literally Discord is purely made out of chaos. If there wouldn't be tirek I don't think Anyone could beat him and his chaosmagic of Doom!

The reason Discord is the best villain, is because he shows how people can change for the better or the worse. Fluttershy showed him kindness when nopony else would. This made Discord change and realized how valuable friendship was to him. Later on, Tirek convened Discord to join him in an act of rebellion against Equestria. Discord is a real relatable villain. You can also count on him for a good laugh.

3 Cozy Glow

Her cute looks might deceive you, but she is DOWNRIGHT EVIL!

Quote: Friendship isn't magic, it's POWER!

Not to mention she locked the Mane 6 and Spike up in Tartarus, overthrew Chancellor Neighseigh, locked Starlight up in a magical glowing orb, stole magic from Equestria, and blamed it all on the STUDENT 6?! Totally under-appreciated villain.

BEST. VILLAIN. EVER. With her wits and smarts, she doesn't even need strength! She's manipulative and I LIKE IT. Despite only being a pegasus, she was able to turn the school against the Young 6, trap Starlight in some weird thingy I-forgot-what-it-was-called, and stole all the magic in Equestria! Oh and she locked up Twilight, her friends in Tartarus.

AND (spoilers for those who haven't watched season 9), in the Ending of the End or whatever it's called, she's freed and becomes an alicorn, then proceeds to join forces with Chrysalis and Tirek, who basically just turned all of Equestria against each other. She's able to take magic from Princesses Celestia and Luna, and then almost win against Twilight and her friends after that, only they defeated her. And then Chrysalis and Tirek came to save the day and blew everyone away; then only Twilight escaped.

Yeah I love her, to summarize (sorry this was a lot).

4 Nightmare Moon Nightmare Moon is the corrupted form of Princess Luna, the younger sister of Princess Celestia. As Nightmare Moon, she first appeared as the main antagonist in the Season 1 premiere of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Nightmare moon has the best reasons to be a villain. She was jealous and was emotionally hurt because no pony cared about her, or what she did for them for HOURS. Then when she got banished, she had to have been furious! Away from any other life form for 1,000 years! Also in the season 5 finale, her universe was probably the best one to live in. No war, hiding for your life, mass destruction, pollution, chaos, just a different way of living normally. She is also the prettiest villain. Go Nightmare!

Nightmare Moon, is the BEST villain, no doubt about that, she's gorgeous too! But she didn't do that much damage, I know, she hurt Celestia once, but spreading eternal night across Equestria is probably the least thing any villain on MLP has done! I wish Celestia could have turned her, she's my favorite character, I have Nothing against Luna, I just wished Nightmare Moon was good, not bad

5 Tempest Shadow

I love the way that she was drawn. Her backstory was pretty good and i really liked that she kinda had an attitude against the stormking.

Tempest Shadow (Fizzle-bop Berry-twist) is totally the #1 villain in the she show. She has the best singing voice, and I feel so sorry for her. She is so underrated. I mean her friends abandoned her after she saved them. She can make really cool fireworks, and she deserves a better place on this list than what she has now.

She honestly has amazing character development, and even though she was reformed, she managed to take down a lot of the princesses, something not many other villains can do. She can be manipulative and other traits which perfectly describe antagonist.

6 Lord Tirek Lord Tirek (simply known as Tirek) is one of the main antagonists of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. He is a demonic centaur with the power to drain the magic and abilities out of other creatures, particularly ponies. He is Friendship is Magic's incarnation of Tirek; the first villain of the original... read more

Only because in certain ways he seems a little like Bowser, my favorite villain of all time. He's a big angry horned brute like Bowser and his appearance reminds me of Giga Bowser!

Tirek is so cool! I love that this guy got a backstory. But what I probably love most about him is that awesome fight seen with twilight sparkle. Both of them were so OP!

He's one of the most successful villains in the MLP franchise. Sucking magic from ponies to feed him is a such a great idea for a villain!

7 Trixie Trixie Lulamoon, is a female unicorn pony and traveling magician. She tends to speak in the third person and refer to herself as "The Great and Powerful Trixie".

She lives her friend starlight so much.

Truly yes, she is evil, she prefers to win, and power, instead of friends

8 Starlight Glimmer Starlight Glimmer is a recurring character, initially an antagonist, in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She first appears in the season 5 premiere, The Cutie Map. From The Cutie Re-Mark - Part 2 to Celestial Advice, she is Twilight Sparkle's student in the ways of friendship.

She may not have as much raw power as Discord or Chrysalis but her ability to cast complex spells such as duplication, speed and hypnosis rival that of Princess Twilight (Possibly the other princesses too). She also possesses a signature spell which can remove a pony's cutie mark at will and replace it with an equal sign. This was confirmed in The Cutie Map pt 2 when she admitted that none of this [the Village] would've been possible if it weren't for HER cutie mark stealing magic. Cutie marks are an essential factor of a pony's destiny and talents so it's kind of a big deal. She also swapped the Royal Sisters cutie marks for a day. Moreover, in Every Little Thing She Does, she casts a variety of spells which impress Twilight herself. Such as the crystal shield and acceleration spells.
In the Season 5 finale, the whole history of Equestria was at stake. In 'A Matter if Principles' she fired an immensely destructive beam which supposedly "banished" Discord, which was powered by her hatred and resent towards Discord. She is certainly a formidable opponent that even an Alicorn Twilight couldn't stop her with her own Alicorn magic, she was convinced to stop on her own.

9 King Sombra King Sombra, or simply Sombra, is a major antagonist of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He appears as the main antagonist in both the Season 3 premiere, "The Crystal Empire", and the Season 9 premiere, "The Beginning of the End". Sombra is a male, initially-umbrum unicorn, and the former tyrannical... read more

I honestly don't get why this guy didn't make it to the top. I get he didn't do much but for me though he's my top. Seriously not only is his appearance intimidating he also one unicorn had the power to handle two VERY powerful alicorns. And it required an artifact to beat him. I'm so disappointed because I feel like this guy deserves way more attention than the amount he's initially getting.

This guy more than proved himself in season 9! Although, this one this seems kinda fishy to me. Sombra, the guy who was literally just defeated with the elements of harmony, was able to destroy them...and the tree! HOW?!

10 Snails

Snail hasn't shown 1% of his power yet. There are several easter eggs hinting he is a god, plus he already is charismatic and fun.

He works for Sunset in Equestria Girls. But reforms. And he's too dumb to be a good villain.

The Contenders
11 Adagio Dazzle

In my humble opinion, I think that Adagio is the best Villain, or at least in the top five.
Not only is her design (Both Human and Siren form) aesthetically pleasing, but she, along with Aria and Sonata, have a very good reason for being evil in the first place. Unlike the Changelings, who can be reformed, and no longer really need to worry about feeding anymore, since it's a given from being around other Ponies and Changelings; The Sirens don't really have a choice. They have to feed of off other's hate, or else they will die.

I also forgot to mention how great their Songs are. Like seriously.

I mean, one of the things that I feel a good Villain should have is an actual motive for being evil in the first place, (Unlike the Mane-iac *Cough cough* Who was a down right horrible Villain who spat out cringy Horse Puns every few minutes) and I feel that Adagio and the other Dazzlings have more than achieved this, thus earning them a solid spot in my Top Five Villains.

12 Lightning Dust

She only care about herself and she doesn't understand friendship or loyaty like Rainbow Dash.I hate her!
And she will never understand the love of friendship or loyaty like Rainbow Dash and Rainbow is the best and most unique pony.I love Rainbow Dash!

13 Diamond Tiara Diamond Tiara is a female school-age Earth pony and minor antagonist who first appears in Call of the Cutie. She and Silver Spoon are classmates of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

I love her! She would be nice and generous if her mom didn't control her life!

She's more of an antagonist than a villain. She isn't evil. Mean, but not evil.

Diamond Tiara is not a villain anymore! Stop voting!

14 Daybreaker

Daybreak has so much Power. In season 7 episode 10 dabreaker melted dream world turned into a asteroid and made an immortal power.

She is a season 7 episode 10 character. She is an alter ego of princess celestial. She is gorgeous and is awesomely funny

This villain was only one-shot. Give her some more screentime before the show ends Hasbro! She deserves more!

15 Sunset Shimmer Sunset Shimmer is a female unicorn pony-turned-human and former antagonist introduced in My Little Pony Equestria Girls. She is a student at Canterlot High School, a former student of Princess Celestia, and a rhythm guitarist for the student band The Rainbooms.

Sunset was such an awesome villain! So happy she was reformed. I loved her desines as a demon and an angel!

She isn't evil! She used to be but not anymore!

She was reformed after the first movie.

16 Snips

He's not a villain, he just sucks!

17 Flutterbat

Not a real villain, just under an exorcism.

18 Gilda The Gryphon Gilda is a reformed antagonist in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. She first appears in the fifth episode of Season 1, Griffon the Brush-Off, where she was the main antagonist of the episode... read more
19 Prince Blueblood Prince Blueblood is a royal male unicorn pony from the American-Canadian animated series, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He resides in Canterlot. He is the distant nephew of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna and the cousin of Princess Cadance. He starts out as the object of Rarity's affections,... read more
20 Pinkamena
21 Aria Blaze

Aria needs to get away from Adagio and Sonata. She seems like a loner to me. If she left the Dazzling Aria could have a chance to strike out on her own, become a successful villain, and take revenge, although the revenge plot is a little overused in my opinion. Also, Arias resemblance to starlight glimmer is a bit unsettling. But yeah, I like her.

She's always trying to take leadership over Adagio in the group, that's what I like about her, always trying to be number one and derail the number one. She's also my favorite MLP character.

22 Midnight Sparkle

Sci Twi's my favorite character and Midnight Sparkle is a great villain. WAY better than Demon Sunset. Midnight Sparkle is way more powerful and way smarter than Demon Sunset ever was. Plus, her motive (knowladge) is better than Demon Sunset's, too! I'm not saying I'm hating on Demon Sunset (which I'm not, I love Demon Sunset and I think they did a great job on her character) but I'm saying that Midnight Sparkle's just BETTER. The end. That's that.

Is Midnight Sparkle twilight's evil side?

23 Dr. Caballeron

This villain is so underrated, even in the Brony fandom, he appeared in three episodes total, he was a pretty good villain, though I wish the rest of his backstory wasn't revealed, the only bit of backstory that was revealed was that he wanted it to be Daring Do's partner, but she arrogantly refused, we seen that kind of backstory done several times with villains, but it does teach a good lesson, never treat your biggest fans like crap, because they might grow up to become your greatest enemy.

Fun and memorable. Deserves a higher spot. Not top of the list, but certainly higher than he is placed.

24 Sonata Dusk

Sonata reminds me of my little sister. I like Sonata and everything, but with how cute she is it's kinda hard to take her seriously as a villain.

Totally hilarious villain. She's one of my favorite MLP characters!

25 Nightmare Rarity

Incredible storyline from the comics. A shame she is not canon.
