Top Ten NBA Players with the Best Chance to Win the 2018-19 DPY

The DPY (Defensive Player of the Year) takes pure defensive talents. If you win this award you have guaranteed earned it. Guarding the best player on the other team and being able to keep a switching defense alive. Those are just two of the qualities that you have to have to be on this list along with being a leader of a great defense. Let's look at some of the potential candidates.
The Top Ten
1 Kawhi Leonard Kawhi Anthony Leonard is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association. He has played for the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and the Clippers.

It is confirmed Kawhi Leonard as passed his physical. If he actually is his actually the same he was, boy he will be getting his 3rd DPY...and maybe his first MVP.

2 Clint Capela Clint N'Dumba-Capela is a Swiss professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association.

The best switcher in the league, besides maybe Kawhi, LeBron, and maybe Chris Paul. If he returns to the Rockets he will maybe get more recognition since Ariza and Mbah a Moute are gone.

3 LeBron James LeBron Raymone James is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. LeBron has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and the Lakers.

LeBron is a great defender and could be the one of best. The only reason he has been bad the last few years is because he was playing with a horrible team. This year though he doesn't have to do everything offensively or defensively.

4 Joel Embiid Joel Hans Embiid is a Cameroonian professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association.

Joel is one of the most intimidating shot blockers in the league. He modeled his game after Hakeem Olajuwon, and you can really see it on both ends of the court.

Embiid is really emerging as a defender and he has the potential to win this year. I actually felt like he should've won it last year.

5 Victor Oladipo Kehinde Babatunde Victor Oladipo is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association.

The steals leader last year. He really can win it this year. Last year he was the best perimeter defender since Kawhi Leonard was out.

6 Rudy Gobert Rudy Gobert-Bourgarel Is a professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also represents the French national basketball team in the international competitions. Standing at 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m) tall with a wingspan of 7 ft 9 (2.36 m) long, he plays at the center position. He was the NBA Blocks leader in the 2016-2017 season, and was named an All-NBA Team member that season as well.

I really don't want Gobert to win it, but he might just win it again.

7 Chris Paul Christopher Emmanuel Paul is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association.

I think like Capela since Ariza and Mbah A Moute is out he may stick out more.

8 Paul George Paul George is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association.

With Carmelo gone he could be playing some more minutes for next year.

9 Mohamed Bamba

There is a chance a rookie could win it this year. Bamba is going to be a great defender from day one and he could just win it.

10 Kevin Durant Kevin Wayne Durant is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association. He has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, and the Nets. He was MVP of the 2017 and 2018 NBA Finals.

If he just doing what has been then maybe.
