Kareem actually played a charity one-on-one match against Dr. J, and coasted to an embarrassingly easy win. Kareem basically just backed Dr. J down and skyhooked over him every time.
Even if you believe that Kobe is better than Dr. J, it's only by a tiny amount, and not enough to make up for the huge advantage an actual 7 footer who can really play has over almost anybody else.
Most of today's "7 footers" are really only 6-10 or so, and even the actual 7-footers are not very good.
Kareem, and also Wilt Chamberlain were so good, and so much bigger than anybody else who was good, it really would be unfair to match them up against anybody else.
