Pick your year, I pick 1971 because at 4-3 and with the team struggling, head coach Tom Landry picked Staubach over Craig Morton as starting quarterback. The result the Cowboys would Not lose again as Staubach's heroics earn him the first of 6 Pro Bowls he would play, he won the Bert Bell NFL MVP award, the 1971 NFL Passing rating champion and Super Bowl VI MVP, and after his playing days we're done he was number 29 in the Sporting News' 100 Greatest Football Players in 1999.

Arguably the greatest quarterback not to be in the pro football hall of fame, Anderson's stats and playing for only one team (Cincinnati Bengals) is the stuff of legend. Today he still owns many great Bengals record including Completions, Attempts, Yards, Touchdowns and Interceptions. Anderson was one of the first great quarterbacks to run the west coast offense. He lifted the Bengals to 2 playoff appearances in the 1970s and for Anderson he was named the 1975 NFL Man of the Year and one of the Bengals' all time greats.

After the 1960s, Namath's Jets didn't have a winning season, in fact the Jets next winning season came after Namath left the Jets, but even during the hard times, Namath still produced impressive numbers for the Jets. His best game in this decade was a September 24, 1972 game against the Baltimore Colts. In that game he threw for 496 yards and 6 touchdowns in the Jets 44-34 win over the Baltimore Colts.

When the Seahawks we're born in 1976, he was the first great player.In his rookie campaign, he was a star on the rise as he and Steve Largent we're the best 1-2 combination in the AFC. Though the Seahwaks won only 2 games, Zorn was named the Seahawks MVP and the AFC Offensive Rookie of the year. In only its 3rd year, the Seahawks had a winning record and Zorn was on a tear, he had 3 straight years of 3,000 yards plus passing and in that year, he made his only Pro Bowl appearance. In 1983, he taught Dave Krieg how to be a leader and he did. Zorn is the member of the Seahawks Ring of Honor.

Here's one of those what might have Hall of Fame QBs. Bert Jones was one, but when he was healthy so we're the Colts. From 1975 to 1977, his Colts won the AFC East Title. 1976 was his best year. He threw for 3,104 yards and 24 touchdowns and had a passer rating of 102.5, one of only 3 quarterbcks during the 1970s that had a passer rating of 100.0 or more in a season. He played in his only Pro Bowl, while being named to the AFC ALL-Pro Team, named 1976 NFL offensive Player of the year, and the 1976 NFL Most Valuable Player. The Ruston Rifle delivered.
