Best NFL Quarterbacks Going Into the 2018 Season

2017 was a dark year for quarterbacks, with some of the most talented going down with injuries. Now that the greats are mostly healthy, we must wonder, who are among the NFL’s best quarterbacks? We’re looking at the top ten best NFL quarterbacks going into the 2018 season.
The Top Ten
1 Tom Brady Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr., is a retired American football quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. Brady is known for being the only quarterback in history to win 7 Super Bowls, and was often considered one of the best quarterbacks of all time. Brady was also frequently considered to be the biggest steal in NFL history as a late 6th round pick. He had previously played for the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2019.

The obvious choice for number one, fans hope Brady continues his dominance in 2018.

2 Aaron Rodgers Aaron Charles Rodgers is an American football quarterback for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League.

Coming off of a broken collarbone, Rodgers is expecting himself to produce an MVP season. He’s done it once after a broken collarbone, so can he do it again?

3 Drew Brees Drew Christopher Brees is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He is the only player to have back to back to back 5,000 yards in three seasons straight. Brees also has the all time best completion percentage with 66.95%.

Brees is on the back end of his career, but his chances of a Super Bowl haven’t been this high in a while. As one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, Brees is still one of the elites.

4 Russell Wilson Russell Carrington Wilson is an American football quarterback for the Denver Broncos, and formerly for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League.

The Seahawks regressed in the offseason, so they will need Wilson to carry them. He nearly got them to the playoffs in 2017, and that was when they were lacking talent. He is among the top five in the NFL.

Russell is the goat. Period

5 Philip Rivers Philip Michael Rivers is a former American football quarterback. He played for the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers from 2004 to 2019 and for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2020 season. Rivers was drafted fourth overall by the New York Giants in the 2004 NFL Draft before being traded to the San Diego Chargers for Eli Manning that same night.

Believe me, he will make the playoffs this year. The long time veteran is among the NFL’s best, and with plenty of talent around him, gives him good playoff odds.

6 DeShaun Watson

DeShaun Watson could end up making a big step

He was lighting the NFL on fire before he tore his ACL. Now he’s back, and I expect him to be better than ever.

7 Matthew Stafford John Matthew Stafford is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League. The #1 overall pick in 2009 selected by The Detroit Lions, Stafford has a critical acclaim in his stats. Stafford is the fastest player in NFL history to reach 30,000 passing yards. In 2016, he also broke the record for most comebacks in a season with eight. Stafford maybe one of the better Lions Quarterbacks in recent memory, but his record on the road against winning teams may haunt him with the 5-46 record. He also one of two veteran active quarterbacks to have never won a playoff game the other being Andy Dalton. In 2021, he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams.
8 Carson Wentz Carson Wentz is an American football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He played college football at North Dakota State University. He was drafted by the Eagles with the second overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft, becoming the highest drafted quarterback from an FCS school and the highest drafted player from NDSU.
9 Derek Carr Derek Dallas Carr is an American football quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League.

He’s definitely a talented quarterback. Want evidence? Look at his 2016 season, where he was in the MVP race. I think he can reach that level again in 2018.

10 Jared Goff Jared Thomas Goff is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League. He played college football at California, and was selected by the Rams with the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

An awful rookie season to a pro bowler? That’s hard to believe, but it happened with Goff, who I think can lead his team on a playoff run in 2018.

The Contenders
11 Jimmy Garoppolo

He gave the Pats a good start until he was gone and other crap happened.

12 Cam Newton Cameron Jerrell Newton is an American football quarterback for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. He had previously played with the Carolina Panthers from 2011 to 2019, and for the New England Patriots in 2020. In November 2021, he signed with his old team, the Carolina Panthers.
13 Matt Ryan Matthew Thomas "Matt" Ryan, nicknamed "Matty Ice," is an American football quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League.
14 Ben Roethlisberger Benjamin Todd Roethlisberger, Sr., nicknamed Big Ben, is an American football quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League.
