Best NFL Safeties Going Into the 2018 Season

Safety is a valuable position in the NFL, yet it gets no appreciation. Cornerback always outranks it, but there are still elite safeties in the NFL. Who are they? We’re looking at the top ten best NFL safeties going into the 2018 season.
The Top Ten
1 Earl Thomas III Earl Thomas III is an American football safety for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League.

He’s still the NFL’s best safety, but he may not be in Seattle in 2018. He wants an extension or to be traded. If Seattle is smart, they give him the contract extension.

2 Harrison Smith Harrison Smith is an American football safety for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League.
3 Kevin Byard

He was tied with Darius Slay for most interceptions in 2017 with eight. Playing for a Titans team on the rise, Byard’s production will increase as well.

4 Tyrann Mathieu Tyrann Devine Mathieu is an American football safety for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League.
5 Eric Berry James Eric Berry, nicknamed "The Fifth Dimension," is an American football safety for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League.

After a season missed to an injury, Berry has nowhere to go but up. If he could come back after cancer, then coming back from injury will be a breeze.

6 Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

2017 was indeed a down year from his pro bowl 2016 year. But he’s now the best defensive back in Green Bay’s backfield. With all that responsibility, his production could fly in 2018.

7 Barry Church
8 Micah Hyde

Hyde had a great 2017, making his first pro bowl. On a top ten Bills defense, expect more pro bowls from him in the future.

9 Jamal Adams

Adams has huge potential, as a safety and return man. On a horrendous Jets team, he has potential to be their one shining star.

10 Eddie Jackson

That game against the Panthers, I was really impressed with the rookie. Now in his second year and with a new head coach, he will greatly improve in 2018.

The Contenders
11 Malcolm Jenkins Malcolm Jenkins is an American football safety for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League.

Always sleeping on the Eagles.
