NFL Teams Most Likely to Go from Worst to First in 2018
For some teams, the 2017 season was brutal. Just ask the 0-16 Browns, or the Broncos, who went from 3-1 to a dismal 5-11. Of course, these teams worked hard in the free agency and the draft. So, from New York to San Francisco, we’re looking at the top NFL teams most likely to go from worst to first in 2018.Belichick was so stupid to trade away Jimmy G. As amazing and dominant as Tom Brady is, he's got to retire at SOME point. Father Time is undefeated and Garoppolo would've been the perfect replacement for Brady. With Jimmy G at QB, an improving defense led by free agent acquisition Richard Sherman, and a promising young head coach in Kyle Shanahan, I can honestly see the Niners competing for the next decade. I see many NFC Championships against the Eagles, Packers, Vikings, Rams, and Saints in their near future.
One of the biggest trades of the 2010’s was for Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Suddenly, he brought the niners 5 wins and most of all, hope. With him, along with free agency acquisitions Richard Sherman and Weston Richburg, and draft picks Mike McGlinchey and Dante Pettis, this team has a wide open window for the super bowl.

This was a promising team before outstanding rookie quarterback DeShaun Watson tore his ACL in November 2017. After, with Tom Savage and TJ Yates as their quarterbacks, they only won one game. However, Houston worked hard in the offseason. To get their defense back to shape, they signed former Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu, and with a healthy DeShaun Watson, along with defensive powerhouses JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus healthy as well, they may be battling Jacksonville for the AFC South.
Yeah Jimmy G is great and 49ers won five straight but I feel this team will be a tad better than the 49ers. Here are my reasons
1) Better defense. When healthy this d line is dangerous (JJ Watt, Vince Wilfork, Jadaveon Clowny) plus adding the honey badger to the defense
2) DeShaun Watson need I say more. He would have won offensive rookie of year had he not got injured he is just a freak athlete. I called it when he came out of college
3) Not as much holes to fill. With the Niners they have many holes to fill on the defense yes they added Sherman and they have Ruben Foster but he gets in trouble and it’s too risky. But that is it’s own topic for another time. The Texans are a more solid all around team than the Ninets Watson has more reliable talented weapons on his offense (Deandre Hopkins, Will Fuller, Lamar Miller) who do the Niners have for Jimmy G... That’s right they lost Carlos Hyde in free agency. Put all this together and I fell the Texans will have a better ...more
Okay, hold up a little bit. Just because they drafted a star running back (who we don't even know will be good in the NFL yet) doesn't mean they'll make a huge turnaround. Derp Face Manning will always find a way to screw up their chances.
If Eli Manning plays well this season, they could very well be a playoff contender. Just look at their offense. Manning, Odell Beckham, Sterling Shepherd, Evan Engram, and second overall pick Saquon Barkley. Also, Manning’s got Nate Solder protecting him. It’s just the defense that needs to step up to make the Giants playoff contenders again.
They are in full rebuilding mode, surrounding their sophomore quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with offensive weapons such as Allen Robinson and Trey Burton. Taylor Gabriel also provides a reliable wide receiver. And they also have first rounder Roquan Smith to strengthen their defense. With a new head coach in Matt Nagy, the Bears have a decent chance to win the division. But, powerhouses like Minnesota and Green Bay loom.
It might take a while. The bears might have to wait a few years to be the best, but it will happen. They just need to give Mitch some more experience.
So, you hire a successful head coach and sports analyst as a head coach. But they were too eager to get Jack Del Rio out of the way for Gruden. However, they’ve got a good receiving corps of Amari Cooper and newcomers Martavis Bryant and Jordy Nelson. Also, with a Khalil Mack defense, they could revert back to 2016 form. Assuming Derek Carr stays healthy.
They’re a bump in the middle of the best division in football. But, just look at that defensive line. Gerald McCoy, Vita Vea, Jason Pierre-Paul, Noah Spence, and the list goes on. This may be one of the most dangerous defensive lines in the NFL in 2018. The offense is a concern. They need Jameis Winston to stay healthy, and more consistent play from Mike Evans. It’ll be hard to win the division, with the Saints and Falcons in the way (sorry, but Panthers are going to fall).
Sure, Baker Mayfield shouldn’t have gone #1 overall, but look at this roster. Tyrod Taylor will have some weapons at receiver, such as Josh Gordon and Jarvis Landry. Expect Nick Chubb to make a good impact with Duke Johnson. On the defense, you’ve got exceptional D-linemen in Myles Garrett and Emmanuel Ogbah. And with Denzel Ward leading the backfield, who knows what’s in store with the Browns. 2 wins baby! Or in this case, maybe 9 wins (in a longshot chance).
They really cannot get any worse...should be close to number 1 on turnaround
They haven't won a game since 2016. It's 2018 or bust, baby!
Still not sure about the quarterback situation, as your projected starter is Case Keenum, who proved himself in Minnesota. They do need their defense to go back to the way it was when they won Super Bowl 50. Von Miller and Bradley Chubb could however actually accomplish that feat. But they’ll need a lot of help to go to first.
Josh McCown (or Sam Darnold) may have trouble in 2018. Robby Anderson is really the only truly reliable receiver on the team, and he’s had off the field issues. Terrelle Pryor isn’t much either. Also, Matt Forte has retired. So... what now? With an uncertain offense, their defense is looking better. Jamal Adams could lead their backfield to glory in 2018.
Nobody's won the AFC East other than a healthy Tom Brady since 2002. Nothing tells me that this trend is going to end in 2018.
It'll be really hard for the Colts to become winners in 2018. They're in a division with the Jaguars, Titans, and Texans, three playoff contenders. And what about Andrew Luck's shoulder? Will he play? And if he does, will he be the same? Additionally, the team has little depth at receiver and running back. However, Quenton Nelson should help protect him. Still, with a modest offense and defense, it's unlikely the Colts will achieve anything worthwhile in 2018.
They have Peyton and Eli manning tom Brady Kenton James and jack seagger
I believe they'll go from average to one of the worst teams in 2018.
With Alex Smith there is no chance they loose
They have not won a game in 3 years
