Top 10 NFL Teams Most Likely to Regress in the 2021-22 Season
The upcoming NFL season is going to be the biggest in league history. The NFL is going to chase the money and add a 17th regular season game because why not? Several teams are going to regress from where they were a year ago. It’s very likely one of these teams gets the top draft pick in the upcoming 2022 NFL draft. Other teams are falling from grace as a once playoff contender going the wrong direction and seeing their championship windows slam shut.Any fans of the black and gold brigade probably don't want to hear this but you guys are in for a not so fun season. I could see the signs of an inevitable collapse last year even on their 11-0 run. Where do I even start? Big Ben is back yet again despite being older and losing his arm strength then there's that offensive line if you can even call it that anymore. They shed a lot of talent including David DeCastro just recently. Did you not see what happened to Kansas City in the Super Bowl? Because that's where you're headed and let me tell you right now that's not a place you want to be. Juju is honestly washed up and Najee will struggle with a bare bones O line. Big Ben will be lucky to make it out alive. And on top of that they play a number of competitive teams including the Browns and Ravens twice, as well as the Bills and Chiefs. They won't bottom out because Tomlin technically has never had a losing record but still
Saints fans congratulations on successfully wasting your championship window. Everyone could see Drew Brees was in the 2015 Peyton Manning stage of his career unfortunately he would not get a nice ride off into the sunset instead he just sadly fades away. Saints are in what we like to call "cap hell." Alvin Kamara was the entire offense. Michael Thomas was a non factor and is becoming more of a locker room cancer. Then there's also your next QB situation either option A: Start Jameis Winston and hope to god he doesn't turn the ball over or B: hope Taysom Hill can carry the weight of being a full time quarterback instead of some hybrid project quarterback or whatever he is. Neither one is very promising to me. You also have an up and coming Carolina Panthers team to deal with as well as the Buccaneers who aren't going anywhere. Sean Payton may also be one of the most overrated coaches in the league as well
The Houston Texans finished the 2020 Season at 4-12. The fact that I say they can regress lower than that in and of itself is embarrassing but it's a damning testament to how far this organization has fallen. I am convinced blowing a 24-0 lead against Kansas City in the playoffs literally broke this franchise that's the only logical explanation I got. Most of their problems come from one man. Bill O Brien who should have been fired a long time ago. Jack Easterby is also to blame which how is he still here? They did fire Bill O Brien after week 4 I believe which was one of the only good things they did the entire season. Even though he's gone the damage remains it lingered during the draft where they could have used a top 3 pick but gave it to Miami. They had very few picks and I didn't think they made the most of them. Then there's Deshaun Watson. He had made his frustrations with the organization clear. They failed to get his input for the coaching search which is what caused him to ...more
You might be wondering how a team that made the NFC Championship game and had the league MVP on their team is on this list and well let's just say that things have turned sour between one player and the organization. In case you somehow haven't heard the news Aaron Rodgers is not happy with the Packers organization. It's a complicated story with multiple parts but what this boils down to is Aaron being unhappy with Gutekunst handling the release of guys like Jordy Nelson and Clay Matthews and his lack of input when the team drafted Jordan Love. Sure they kept some pieces like Davante Adams, Aaron Jones and David Baktiari but that means nothing if your star QB doesn't come back. You better hope to God Jordan Love is at least serviceable otherwise it's going to be a long year. And the rest of the division will give you no sympathy whatsoever
I really don't like the direction the Raiders are going. And I'm saying that from the perspective of a long time rival. What the actual hell are Mayock and Gruden doing? They're trading away Trent Brown and Rodney Hudson and replacing them with a reach in the draft Alex Leatherwood? Moehrig isn't a bad pick but there are far more concerning issues especially with the Chiefs in your division and now the Chargers up and coming. Derek Carr better be ready to run and so far he hasn't proven capable he's not the type to be super mobile and take shots down the field. This organization really confuses me sometimes. This team was the week 5 champions last year after beating Kansas City then did absolutely nothing with that. They nearly lost to the JETS yes the JETS of all teams. That's the point where I can't even take them seriously anymore
Atlanta has been in a rebuild for a few years now. They finally fired Dan Quinn and they also fired GM Thomas Dimitroff they will look to start from scratch and dismantle the core they already did that by getting rid of Julio Jones and replacing him with Kyle Pitts. The defense still needs a lot of work and I just don't see them being any better than they were last year
The Eagles finished bottom in the NFC East at 4-11-1 last year. There's not much lower they can go but honestly there is nothing about this team that stands out. This draft and free agency class was very underwhelming. You got Jalen Hurts some help in Devonte Smith but that's about it. The other 3 teams in your division look to be somewhat better and then there's the Eagles just sitting there. Doug Peterson was rightfully fired after intentionally tanking late last year. Their next guy is someone I have no confidence in. Who is Nick Sirianni? This team strikes me as a team picking top 3 in next years draft. I feel bad for Jalen Hurts being a part of a dysfunctional team. They completely ruined Carson Wentz much like the rest of the team. His confidence and everything was completely shot. So much so that they sent him to Indianapolis. Funny because this team is in the same situation. Only Howie can blow up a team like this after winning a Super Bowl with a backup quarterback

Admittedly this is a little bit of a stretch but Seattle didn't really impress me with their draft class and Russell Wilson has come out and publicly made his dissatisfaction with the team clear. He has a terrible O line yet continuously bails this team out every time. The offense is decent defense inconsistent as is the team as a whole. They also play in the toughest division in the league which you have the 49ers and Rams to contend with that will make it very difficult to repeat and win the division let alone make the playoffs might be a challenge
The Lions made a blockbuster trade getting rid of their long time veteran QB Matthew Stafford which some Detroit fans were sad to see him go but I'm sure ht was cheering at this turn of events. They got Jared Goff and some draft capital to work with in return. In the draft they landed Penei Sewell who fell into their laps and they're quietly assembling a decent line. Problem is the rest of the team still needs some work. Defense will probably be bad and the offense is weak. With a tough schedule ahead I'm saying they pick close to top 5 this year
Chicago you accidentally stumbled into the playoffs last year only to get beat down by the Saints to nobody's surprise. Some people say that was the worst possible outcome for your team. Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy live to see another season. Mitchell Trubisky is gone but you replaced him with Andy Dalton.. ? Okay and if that's not weird enough you drafted Justin Fields as well. This team still looks pretty mediocre and looking at their schedule it's not exactly a friendly draw for them. If the over/ under line is 8 I'd have to take the under here
