Best NFL Tight Ends Going Into the 2019 Season
With the retirement of Rob Gronkowski, Kelce in my opinion is the best tight end in the league now. He has stiff competition from George Kittle and Zach Ertz, but with Patrick Mahomes throwing to him, Kelce can do things no other tight end in the NFL can.
Kittle exploded onto the scene in 2018 and dominated while playing with backup quarterbacks. Just imagine what he will do with Jimmy Garoppolo in 2019. He’s a future star in the making.
Ertz remains one of the league’s top tight ends, and also recently set an NFL record for most receptions in a season for a tight end. His stats show how dominant he is.
Cook had a career year in 2018 as Derek Carr’s #1 target, and he made his first pro bowl. The journeyman tight end is now in New Orleans and ready to become a red zone threat for Drew Brees.
To put Ebron on a list like this a year ago would be laughable, but now he is dominating in Indianapolis. With Andrew Luck as his quarterback, Ebron caught more touchdowns than he did in his entire career in Detroit. This makes me wonder if Detroit even utilized him right.
Henry is one of the league’s most promising young tight ends, and he has big shoes to fill as Antonio Gates’ successor. I think he can do that despite coming off of a torn ACL that forced him to miss all of the 2018 season.
Rudolph has slowed down in recent years, but his 2018 showed he is still a capable tight end. Still, what team will he play for in 2019?
While not flashy in 2018, Hooper made his first pro bowl. In a crowded Falcons receiving room, he has made a name for himself so far.
Howard and Cameron Brate have made one of the NFL’s best tight end duos so far. Howard is young with lots of promise. He can go places.
