Top 10 Best Non Disney Animated Movie Sequels

Disney isn't the only one that can make a decent animated sequel several other animated movies not by the Disney company like Dream works have managed to make its fair share of really good sequels.
The Top Ten
1 How to Train Your Dragon 2

How to Train Your Dragon 2 unlike a lot of animated sequels that just rehash the same plot from the first or last movie actually expands on the story as Hiccup and his tribe find themselves against Drago a dragon hunter who looks to take over the world using a dragon army and Hiccup reunites with his long lost mother who was presumed dead is a dragon rescuer which explains why Hiccup was able to train dragons.

This movie unlike a lot of animated sequels is one of a few which in my opinion tops the first film. I loved the bond they showed not just between Hiccup and Toothless but also between all the other characters too. It brought tears, smiles and whoops of joy!
I've never been engaged so much in what goes on in a film as much as this.
Brilliant in all areas!

This has to be the best animated movie. I'll always love this movie, even when I'm old. Brilliant, extraordinary, awesome, AMAZING! I encourage people who hasn't watched this great movie to watch it.

This film is exciting. This film is also better than that overrated horrible disappointment Home (2015) because Home is obsessive. Unlike Home, HTTYD 2 is fun.

2 Kung Fu Panda 2

Definitely the best of its trilogy. First was a classic and super fun but a little basic. Third has its amazing plot but its villain and overall story wasn't as in-depth. Two is the perfect blend of the two pros, while eliminating the flaws of the other two.

It surely got a good story, just lacking some good action to me.

This film is better than Home.

3 Shrek 2

The first Shrek movie was good but the sequel was better furthering the story of Shrek and Fiona as they travel to the kingdom of Far Far Away to meet with Fiona's parents the King and Queen of FFA and of course Fiona's dad is not too happy especially since he had promised Fairy Godmother that Fiona would marry her son Prince Charmin what follows is a hilarious journey that introduces us to a new character Puss in Boots as Shrek attempts to change himself so he and Fiona be happy as Fairy Godmother fixes it so Fiona will end up with Prince Charmin.

I love this film. This film is better than the third film. My sister has a big and huge obsession on the third one for some reason. Unlike the third one, the second Shrek film makes me have good childhood memories.

4 Pokemon the Movie: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew

No Pokemon movie gets over a 6/10 for me.Thankfully, this is a 6/10, so I'll tolerate its placement.

5 Despicable Me 2

This is probably one of the worst in my opinion - it's unfunny, predictable, the character design is atrocious and the main plot point is about minions, and minions are not very good.

Kiddos here love the minions so they got very much excited when this sequel is about to show in cinemas.

I found this movie really enjoyable and almost as good as the first one.

Not a "great" movie but still good

6 The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water

Good movie, bad name.

7 Rugrats In Paris: The Movie

A good sequel to a very underrated movie as the Rugrats gang go to Paris with their parents to Euro Reptar Land so Tommy's dad can repair one of his inventions, a lot of the movie is more focused on Chuckie who wants a new mom which is jeopardized when Coco LaBouche attempt to marry Chuckie's dad with Angelica's help so her boss will promote her.

8 Kung Fu Panda 3

Not as great as two I believe, seeing as how much more could've been poured into it, but it's great!

I think this is the worst movie in the trilogy

9 Pokemon The Movie 2000

The first Pokemon movie was hit or miss the sequel Pokemon the movie 2000: The Power of One was a pretty good follow up as Ash is chosen by destiny to reclaim 3 glass balls to help restore balance after a greedy collector tries to capture the 3 legendary Pokemon Zapados, Moltress and Articuno in order to summon Lugia and try to capture it, and I loved seeing Misty getting jealous around Melody especially when she kisses Ash which really ticked her off then seeing the two reconcile their differences as Misty chooses to go save Ash and states that Ash is never alone because he has her
she even risked her own life to save Ash from drowning.

10 Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

Eh, this was pretty bad and the worst of the trilogy in my opinion

The Contenders
11 Ice Age: The Meltdown

I thought the villians were amazing becase they were so colorful (Maelstrom in particular)

12 Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

The Meltdown was okay Dawn of the Dinosaurs was a pretty good sequel in its own right as a mamma T-Rex kidnaps Sid who took her baby's as Manny and the others go after him while Ellie is getting ready to give birth to her and Manny's child Simon Pegg really steals the show as the very awkward and wacky guide.

Surely there are better movies than this mediocre film.

I actually really liked this one.

This one is my favorite

13 Shrek Forever After

A massive improvement over Shrek the Third. Anyone who thinks otherwise is literally cancer.

14 How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
15 Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
16 Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island
17 An American Tail: Fievel Goes West
18 Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation

Unpopular opinion: This was better than the second one, most of the cons from the second one are either removed or fixed which is a good thing, and it's so colorful and it has become somewhat nostalgic for me. I still think the first one is the best

This was excellent

19 Pokemon 4 Ever
20 Digimon Adventure Tri. 1
21 Pokemon: Destiny Deoxys
22 Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase
23 Scooby-Doo! Wrestlemania Mystery
24 Despicable Me 3

I hated minions but I thought DM3 was decent, I liked the other 2. - BlazingParasol

25 Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

It's amazing, better than most of these bad CGI animated messes.
