Completely based on good memories and old time favorites from childhood.
The Top Ten
1 Snorlax Snorlax, known in Japan as Kabigon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

I'm sure all RBY or anime fans remember the notorious Snorlax. Blocking your path from getting to Fuchsia City. Once you got your hands on the pokeflute (or Pokegear app, depending on the game), you could wake up the beast in all of it's glory and battle it at a whopping level 30! Most of my Pokemon were in high 20's, but none at 30 yet, so I had to catch it! Once I did, I used it and got rid of Raticate, and learned of it's insane power. It had amazing HP and Atk. , which made it one of the most useful on my team, and is still amazing to date. And it was also fun seeing it eat literally everything in the anime.

2 Aipom Aipom, known in Japan as Eipam, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
3 Pikachu Pikachu (Japanese: ピカチュウ) are a species of Pokémon, fictional creatures that appear in an assortment of video games, animated television shows and movies, trading card games, and comic books licensed by The Pokémon Company, a Japanese corporation. A mascot of the Pokemon franchise, it's considered to be the most iconic character of all Pokemon species, as well as a major character in Japanese pop culture, due to its companionship with Ash Ketchum in the anime series. Pikachu has been featured in movies such as Pokemon Detective Pikachu as well as music videos - most notably Katy Perry's "Electric" in 2021.

My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Red and most of the Pokemon I saw looked boring until I got to Viridian Forest where after around 10 encounters I found a Pikachu that I caught. Me, Pikachu and my starter beat the Elite Four together. If you don't like Pikachu, you're a monster

Pikachu is awesome because it's the first Pokemon Ash gets in the anime, and the anime was my favorite show as a kid, as well as Yellow being my favorite game as a kid, being able to walk, talk, and bond with Pikachu. No more explanation needed.

Yeah its definitely number 1

I knew it that he will be no. 1!

4 Togepi Togepi, known in Japan as Togepy, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

First ever egg to be hatched along with 5 years of anime character

5 Mewtwo Mewtwo is a psychic-type Legendary Pokémon from Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon media franchise. Designed by Ken Sugimori, it made its first appearance in the games Pokémon Red and Blue. It was created by Dr. Fuji using gene splicing in an attempt to clone Mew. In the Pokémon games, it's infamously known as the most powerful Pokémon among all species. Mewtwo is capable of evolving into two forms - Mega Mewtwo X (using Mewtonite X) and Mega Mewtwo Y (using Mewtonite Y)
6 Charizard Charizard, known in Japan as Lizardon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Created by Ken Sugimori, Charizard first appeared in the video games Pokémon Red and Blue and subsequent sequels. They have later appeared in various merchandise, spinoff titles and animated and printed adaptations of the franchise. Shin-ichiro Miki, the actor who voices James in the original Japanese version of the Pokémon anime, voices Charizard in both the Japanese and English-language versions of the anime. An orange, draconic Pokémon, Charizard is the evolved form of Charmeleon and the final evolution of Charmander. It has two other forms, Mega Charizards X and Y, which are its ...read more.

I absolutely loved Charizard as a kid because of not only the anime, but also Pokemon Firered. When a remake of my favorite game came out, I was so excited because I could relive the game with updated sprites and graphics. I was trying to decide if I should get Firered or Leafgreen. I chose Firered because there was a dragon on the cover! I hadn't gotten the chance to use this beast because I didn't know how to get it, when it was just beyond Nugget Bridge the entire time... so I got it, and was treated to a complete badass as it destroyed just about everything. I also loved seeing him disobey every order Ash gave him in the show, which amused me so much as a kid.

I HATE YOU SO MUCH CHARIZARD! WHY you STEAL PEOPLE'S THOUGHTS OF THE BEST Pokemon! YOUR A GENERIC DRAGON WITH SOME OF THE COOL THINGS ABOUT DRAGONS (scales, reptilian eyes, etc. ) LEFT BEHIND!

7 Meowth Meowth, known in Japan as Nyarth, is a Normal-type Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Designed by Ken Sugimori, it was first introduced in the Pokemon Red and Blue, and is also known as the mascot of Team Rocket in the anime. At level 28, it evolves into Persian. Meowth has three forms. Its Alolan form is a dark-type Pokemon, and can be evolved into Alolan Persian with high friendship. Its Galarian form is a steel type pokemon that evolves into Perrserker at level 28. Meowth is the first and only pokemon to both have regional forms and a Gigantamax form.

Oh god, if any of you watched the anime, you'd agree with me. He was the funniest, best character on the show because of his little fantasies of pleasing Giovanni and his dumb disguises. He can also talk, which was so cool to me as a kid.

8 Blastoise Blastoise, known in Japan as Kamex, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

This was my first Pokemon ever. For my fourth birthday, I got Pokemon Blue, which had this badass blue turtle with cannons on it's back so naturally, I chose this BAMF and I was treated with insane defense and decent Special and Attack stat as well as sparking a love for a whole new series of games.

9 Raichu Raichu, known in Japan as the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
10 Crobat

The first Pokemon to get an evolution one generation later was the one and only, Crobat. It is so amazing because, not only is it insanely fast and has great attack, but it took a once useless and quite annoying Pokemon and turned it into an absolute beast. He was originally just a temporary flyer for me in Crystal, but then I got my hands onto the Johto Pokemon guide book which had all of the new Pokemon, which introduced me to Crobat, so I evolved him and loved the winged beast ever since.

The Contenders
11 Marill Marill, known in Japan as Maril, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
12 Piplup Piplup, known in Japan as Pochama, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
13 Kingdra Kingdra, known in Japan as Kingdra, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Another evolution added the next generation later, Kingdra took an already pretty decent and one of my favorite gen 1 Pokemon, Seadra, and made it into an absolute badass. It improved all stats to be a mixed attacker and pretty decent wall, and also gave it the dragon sub-type, which made it only weak to dragon, and because they were so scarce, aside from Lance and Clair, made the seahorse an amazing addition to my team.

14 Bulbasaur Bulbasaur, known in Japan as Fushigidane, is the first Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
15 Ninetales Ninetales, known in Japan as Kyukon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

I know what many of you are thinking. What? Ninetales... above Arcanine? Yes, Nintales is my favorite of the 2 because I had Blue and could only get Ninetales and it, in my opinion, was better than Arcanine in gen 1 because the Special stat was not split yet, and it had a whopping 100 Sp and Speed, while Arcanine had 110 Atk and 95 Speed. Sp Atk was much better for fire Pokemon with Flamethrower as a Special move. I also loved the overall design and beauty of it. Also I eventually got into Naruto in my tween years and it had Nintales in it, which I thought was pretty cool.

16 Mew Mew is a Psychic-type Mythical Pokémon created by Nintendo's and Game Freak's Pokémon media franchise. Designed by Satoshi Tajiri, it was introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue. Mew is capable of learning every move in the games (except signature moves of certain Pokémon), and can shapeshift into other Pokémon species.

It was hard to decide between Mew and Mewtwo, but I chose Mew because of the great memories of trying to find ways to get this elusive Pokemon on RBY. Rumors spread and spread around the playground, and that feeling of mystery intrigued me and made a great childhood memory I would not forget. Also Mew was very cute in the first movie, so it gets points for that as well.

I love Mew! Pokemon is so nostalgic to me!

17 Grovyle

From Pokemon Mystery Dungeon-Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky?
That made me cry...
We miss you Grovyle!

18 Gengar Gengar, known in Japan by the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

I absolutely loved this Pokemon because it helped me find my best friend to this date. I was playing Pokemon at recess under the slide because it was banned, and a boy came under it with me and asked me for a Kadabra which I had sitting in my PC, so we hooked up games and he sent over a Haunter, which evolved into Gengar as my Kadabra evolved into Alakazam. We eventually started having playdates and Pokemon battles, and became inseparable. I still have the Gengar to this date, transferred from game to game, Blue to Yellow to Crystal to Sapphire to Emerald to Diamond to HG to White to White 2, and I await the day the Pokemon Bank is released so I can transfer it to X.

I love Gengar, but his poison type makes him a lot weaker (PSYCHIC IS GOOD AGAINST THE POISON TYPE) which makes his usefulness scale (yes I just made that up) deplete.

19 Infernape Infernape, known in Japan as Goukazaru, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Stuff infernape he is crap

20 Empoleon Empoleon, known in Japan as Emperte, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

21 Latios Latios, known in Japan as the same name, is a Legendary Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

The movie with latios was probobly the first Pokemon movie I've ever seen and it was so mystifying to me and had a sad ending which left me with a since of respect for latios plus heartgold and soulsilver were my faviorite ds games because of the night and I got a latios that I took every where

22 Pidgey Pidgey, known in Japan as Poppo, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Pidgey is like the fist pokemon anyone ever finds in the wild

23 Torterra Torterra, known in Japan as Dodaitose, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

My first Pokemon. The first to reach level 100. He's so awesome and cool.

24 Oshawott Oshawott, known in Japan as Mijumaru, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

First pokemon I ever had

25 Dragonite Dragonite, known in Japan as Kairyu, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

This Pokemon makes me fell nostalgic. I used to play Pokepark Wii that reminds me of Dragonite. Dragonite is cute and harmonious.
