Gojira is a progressive metal band from Bayonne, France. The band was known as Godzilla until 2001. Gojira is composed of Joe Duplantier on vocals and rhythm guitar, his brother Mario Duplantier on drums, Christian Andreu on lead guitar, and Jean-Michel Labadie on bass.
I can't believe Gojira wasn't here before. Gojira possesses a lot of technical skill... just look at their drummer! They also write very progressive music that changes a lot. For example, Flying Whales packs in over 10 movements in less than eight minutes. Considering the fact that one of those movements is about three minutes long, that is impressive. - ThatoneMetalhead

This band is not like any other band that has ever hit the metal scene. They are diverse as hell and I relate to damn near every Song that they have written. Me and my woman met, and grew bigger and better in our relationship and in our life in general because of badass/beautiful Music like MISS MAY I. While the dominant styles in the movement are, unfortunately, metalcore and nu metal, Nevermore go out of their way to craft a unique blend of traditional metal, thrash and power metal that stands out from the same old sounds that this movement has spawned. No disrespect to bands like Pantera, but this band got it better than the rest.

Attila is an American metalcore band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2005. Frontman Chris Fronzak started the band in high school and, not wanting to use typical death metal terms, adopted the name from Attila the Hun, which he came across in a book.
These guys are a little newer to the scene, but they have brought their own brand and kick some serious ass.
