Obscura is a German death metal band (progressive and technical death metal), founded in 2002 by Steffen Kummerer.

Their music is complex and technically demanding yet very melodic at times - a mix of cosmic beauty and brutality.

The guys are very intelligent and some band members have studied music theory. Steffen Kummerer, vocalist, guitarist and lyricist, writes lyrics that are a poetic combination of philosophy and astrophysics. I will quote some.
