Top Ten Once Good Artists That Should Stop Making Music

The Top Ten
1 Paul McCartney Sir James Paul McCartney (born 18 June 1942) is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame with the rock band the Beatles, one of the most popular and influential groups in the history of pop and rock ...read more.

I guarantee you would not be saying that if you had been to one of McCartney's concerts. He may not be the singer he once was, but the man's still got it.

Taking it a step further, why should any musician stop producing new material? Granted, New isn't be on the same level as Revolver. (What really is? We hold Paul to ridiculously high standards.) But as an artist, you need to produce art for yourself first and the rest of the world second. What's wrong with that? I'd like to know.

Paul McCartney in the Beatles - OH MY GOD YES!

Paul McCartney in the Wings - Wow! This is pretty good, but it's no "Sgt. Pepper's"...

Paul McCartney in the Wings years later - Hmm... this is decent, but it's no "Band On the Run"...

Paul McCartney solo - Hm. I guess I'll buy this record. I mean-he WAS in the Beatles...

Paul McCartney solo today - Wait- why do I keep buying his albums?

Silly Paul, solo albums are for John!

and that applies to Ringo too...

99-year old Paul McCartney could go onstage in a wheelchair and burp his songbook, and it would still be better than whatever pathetic excuse for a music artist is popular today.

There's nothing wrong with it PetSounds, but his quality in his music has been decreasing in the past years(except in the Beatles, they're old material is the best), so I think it would be best to retire with his good track record.

2 Green Day Green Day are an American pop punk/punk rock band formed in East Bay, California in 1987. The members include Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals and guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass), Tré Cool (drums) and Jason White (guitar). Green Day are associated with punk rock, pop punk and alternative rock. Some of their influences include The Ramones, Sex Pistols, NOFX, and Bad Religion. They are best known for their songs like ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, ‘Basket Case’ and their ‘American Idiot’ & ‘Dookie’ albums. American Idiot sold 6 million copies in the U.S. and won a Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album". Green Day have sold over 75 million records worldwide and have won 5 Grammy Awards. They ...read more.

Other than the Who and 21st century Alice in Chains, I can't think of another band that has sold out. But the difference is that "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" was actually good. "Uno Dos Tres" however, is barely decent. You know it's bad when the front man of the band admits that their band isn't the genre they say they are.

3 ways to fix Green Day

1. Steal Doc Brown's time machine.

2. Go to 2010

3. Put Billie's wife in Tre Cool's bed, take pictures, hand that shiz into TMZ so they can stop making music.

What?! Why is Green Day on here? Because their newest stuff isn't punk...? The reason for that is because they are EXPERIMENTAL and aren't willing to stick with just one genre of music and be snobs about it like other artists. Maybe it's not your thing, but it's not bad.

They should have quit after Warning. But then they would be an overrated "what could've been" band like Nirvana. So maybe if they release American Idiot and show that Green Day could suck then that would have been a good album to quit after.

I like revolution radio. It's actually really good and still has a trace of their once punk/political songs

3 Jay-Z Shawn Corey Carter, known by his stage name JAY-Z, is an American rapper, record producer, entrepreneur and investor born on December 4, 1969 in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for his albums Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, and The Black Album. He is considered to be one of the best rappers of all time.

I would put Dr. Dre on this list if he didn't still make decent music, however Jay-Z is on it because he's basically the bad music making version of Dre...

I thought people like 4:44.

4 Mariah Carey Mariah Carey, born March 27, 1970, is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She is one of the biggest best-selling women in the music industry, with 18 number 1 records to her name. She is regarded as a sex symbol through her songs and music videos, and she is "well known" for her over-the-top ...read more.

She was great in the early 90's, but ever since she made Butterfly her material has been bad 90% of the time.

Her time is done

5 Coldplay Coldplay are a British pop rock band formed in 1996. The band consists of Chris Martin (lead vocalist and pianist), Jonny Buckland (lead guitarist), Guy Berryman (bassist) and Will Champion (drummer and backing vocalist). Manager Phil Harvey is often considered an unofficial fifth member. The band renamed themselves "Coldplay" in 1998. Before making their debut album, they recorded and released three EPs: Safety in 1998, Brothers & Sisters as a single in 1999, and The Blue Room in the same year. The Blue Room was their first release on a major label, after signing to Parlophone. ...read more.

They're just boring man, I don't know what to say. They were original and cool in the early 2000's but turned into an alternative boy-band. I really can't say I'm still a fan, I deleted all my Coldplay songs around 2014 so I wouldn't get beat up.

They used to be quite good alt rock/indie rock, now they turned EDM. The worst thing is, people still like them.

They're just another pop act nowadays

Coldplay sucks!

6 Fall Out Boy Fall Out Boy is an American pop punk band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley.

When Fall Out Boy went on hiatus in 2009, they should have never came back together as a band. "Under the Cork Tree" was enjoyable, there were some ok songs in that album, so why continue as a band when you've got a popular album that fans and critics love, and especially when the emo scene was losing momentum? Well, to sell out, make even worse pop songs, and lose all respect people once had for them.

I was goig to vote Coldplay but people are way more annoying about Fall Out Boy and they're all stupid emos, Fall Out Boy should have stopped making music a long time ago.

Fall out boy should make one more album that should be bad and that's it

They should stop making music and slit their wrists already jc

7 Snoop Dogg Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr., (born October 20, 1971) known professionally as Snoop Dogg, is an American rapper, actor, record producer, and television personality from Long Beach, California.

I loved Doggystyle, it was pure real hip hop. Then I started listening to Bush and after the second song I realized the whole album will be as horrible as the first 2 songs.

I can't believe he still raps...

Yes... snoop dogg can stop

8 Weezer Weezer is an American alternative rock/power pop band formed in Los Angeles in 1992, currently consisting of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, lead and rhythm guitar), Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell, and Scott Shriner.

Look, look, Rivers man, this thing is getting old. Your first 2 albums- awesome man, really great, but uh, here's the thing... When you think you're still 19 making silly rock songs while playing electric guitar at the Playboy mansion. You have kids man! Your over 40 years old!

You get a little sad for the guy when you look at the album covers, from Blue, to Green, to red albums...

Weezer from 2004-2010 should have been on this list but not anymore. Because they have redeemed themselves with EWBAITE and The White Album. There were some good tracks from Hurley but they clearly don't come close to Blue& Pinkerton.

Their doing much better now then they were in the 00s. The White album, EWBAITE and Hurley are great.

9 Kanye West Ye (born Kanye Omari West; June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and fashion designer. He is regarded as one of the most influential, as well as controversial, artists of the 21st century. ...read more.

While never a master of his craft, West at least in the noughties and early 2010's had some talent and produced some really good songs and albums along the way. However, over the past few years, he seems to be more concerned with the celebrity aspect of his career, and is perfectly content with letting his music go to the wayside. As such, his music has dropped in quality dramatically over the last few years, as he is now more concerned with egotistical vanity projects (especially his recent Rihanna and Paul McCartney collaboration) in order to prove that he's a true auteur than he is making any more good music. Please stop Kanye, and if not just please get your act together instead.

If you think Kanye’s should stop making music you really must not be closely listening to rap or anything he’s making. While his recent albums are quite as revolutionary as his early discography they are still incredibly relevant and experimental which is rare for an artist this late in their career. Kid See Ghosts alone was one of the best rap albums of 2018 and he was still making, producing, and collaborating with a ton of other artists making good music. He’s certainly no media darling and by no means likeable, musically he’s still going incredibly strong.

Grumble grumble grumble mumble mumble mumble, is the chorus of one of his songs. Need I say more?

He's still good he just runs his mouth and says regrettable things

10 R. Kelly Robert Sylvester Kelly (born January 8, 1967), known professionally as R. Kelly, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and convicted sex offender. He has been credited with helping to redefine R&B and hip hop, earning nicknames such as "the King of R&B", "the King of Pop-Soul", and the ...read more.
The Contenders
11 Def Leppard Def Leppard are an English hard rock band formed in 1977 in Sheffield as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement.

It's pretty sad actually, that these guys think they're still relevant. They had a couple albums in the 80's, and that's where they should have stopped.

Nooo...I love this band! Actually hated them about 10 years ago but they've grown on me and have become one of my favourite rock bands along with Bon Jovi and Nickleback.

12 U2 U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin. Formed in 1976, the group consists of Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. U2's early sound was rooted in post-punk but eventually grew to incorporate influences from many genres of popular music. Throughout the group's musical pursuits, they have maintained a sound built on melodic instrumentals. Their lyrics, often embellished with spiritual imagery, focus on personal themes and sociopolitical concerns.

Songs of innocence was an amazing album and I was so happy they were appreciate enough to their fans to make it free. I love them so much and hope they continue making music for years to come

"Songs of Innocence" was released free because no one would pay or appreciate it if it costed 10 bucks...

U2's next album better be worth my time

13 Maroon 5 Maroon 5 is an American pop/pop rock band that originated in Los Angeles, California. Before the current group was established, the original four members, Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick, formed a band known as Kara's Flowers in 1994, while they were still in high school.

They used to be really good... But "Girls like you" and their other new ones honestly suck.

To me their first few albums were amazing but then they started sucking

They're 1st 3 albums were good. 4th and 5th album was okay but their new songs sucks.

How is this not number one?

19 Lynyrd Skynyrd Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band best known for popularizing the Southern rock genre during the 1970s They are known for songs like "Free Bird", "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Tuesdays Gone" .

I'm pretty sure they've stopped making music, but maybe they'll make a stupid tribute album like they did with Michael Jackson.

20 Justin Bieber Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He currently resides in Ontario, Canada and is Christian. He is the son of author Pattie Mallette. ...read more.

He sucks and is a bad song artist and needs to go away because he is offending my religion of the one eye baby that likes spaghetti cuts he is cool and stuff and now the baby sun face from the tellitubies will kill you all and burn you ok it's cool when it happens because it gives you cancer and cancer is cool but not cool because it kills people but in this case it is because if Justin Bieber because he sucks and I like video games ok my favorite is Minecraft story mode because it has a good story line and stuff because it is cool

He shouldn't be on this list because he wasn't good in the first place.

You've ruined the music industry enough, give up please.

edit: is that even him in the picture?

He was bad, now slightly below average

She sold out and does crap hipster trend music now instead of the beautiful music that made her famous to begin with. She was actually really good before the fame went to her head, but now I can't stomach her dime-a-dozen songs. I miss the days of Fearless and Speak Now...now we're stuck with Red and 1989 and God knows what else there is to come...ugh.

She was never good to begin with.
