Top 10 Most Overhated Cover SongsCaptainMowzker Covers of song that get more hate than needed, and half of the time the covers themselves aren't that terrible. If I missed one feel free to add it.
The Top Ten
This site really seems to enjoy this cover, and so does everyone on YouTube, but I just can't take this seriously. At least Simon and Garfunkel's song acknowledged the title and lyrics by making the song very quiet and gentle, whereas this is just overblown and trying way too hard to connect with me emotionally. It almost reminds me of how Whitney Houston ruined the Dolly Parton song by turning it into melodramatic pap. 4/10 - DCfnaf
I don't think the music video helped much either. It was trying so hard to be powerful but it just felt unbelievably generic (destroying musical instruments as imagery? Haven't seen that done before) and snarly. - nerffan8000
Even Simon from Simon & Garfunkel liked the cover, the hate it gets is so damn ridiculous. Sure it might be a bit "melodramatic" but at least, it does something different from the original for it to stand out more. - CaptainMowzker
People hate this? I wouldn't know, even my dad, who I can't convince to listen to any other modern style rock, still says this is better than the original by a mile.
This cover is HORRENDOUS!V 12 Comments
Not better than the original, but still a decent cover by it's own merit. - CaptainMowzker
Nobody hates this
I thought I was the only one who loves this cover more. Personally, The Who is one of my favorite bands and apart from some 90's hits I kinda despise Limp Bizkit but still I'd choose this cover over the original one. - Undistinguished
I actually like this one more than the original, and this is coming from someone who really loathes Limp Bizkit and this album. - DCfnaf
This is exactly why I hate Limp Bizkit. Don't even get me started on that live cover of Welcome Home (Sanitarium) by Metallica that they preformed on MTV.
The song was a big hit over here, even more than in the US, and it's often played on the radio. My father, who listens mostly to 60s and 70s music (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Kraftwerk, Deep Purple, Supertramp, Queen,...) said that while he usually has a negative bias towards covers, he genuinely loves this cover, and that he can't decide whether he likes this or the original better. He also really adores the electronic break in between.
PS: I pretty much share his views - Martin_Canine
I love this cover. - JCHOW
It's pretty good in my opinion. - Userguy44
It's nowhere near as good as the original, but I had no idea people even hated it. It's pretty solid. - truckturner
I actually like this cover, not that bad as people say it is. - htoutlaws2012V 2 Comments
It's not that terrible to be honest. - CaptainMowzker
This cover actually is bad. If anything, it's not hated enough.
I actually really liked this cover. - ShugaRoy
This cover deserves all the hate it gets. It is a disrespect to Leonard Cohen's classic.
Not as great as the original, but still decent in it's own right. - CaptainMowzker
People barely know this cover, moreover it's a live cover that I think was never released officially, so it's pretty underground. Now listen: it's a great cover (this is coming from a Metallica fan). But most people would hate the cover by default, without even giving a listen to it just because it's Nickelback. Oh well... - Metal_Treasure
Not as great as the original, but Chad Kroeger did a damn good job. - CaptainMowzker
What's sad but true is that this cover is by Nickelback, thus was doomed from the start to be overhated.
Metal_Treasure and I were actually talking about this on one of his lists. It's a suprisingly solid cover. You'd think, "Nickelback covering Metallica? This must be a travesty". But Chad's voice actually sounds great on that cover. - Gg2000
Actually, I think the fact that it was a live cover lends it some more credibility, since it would be a more realistic depiction of what it would sound like than a studio cover (where they have a stronger ability to overproduce it). - Gg2000
Fun fact: Dolores O'Riordan was actually originally scheduled to record the vocals with Bad Wolves for this cover, but due to her unfortunate death, this version got released as a tribute, so I at least respect it on principle, even if the cover itself is pretty average. - NiktheWiz
Why do you think this cover is overhated? Any facts? - Metal_Treasure
I think this was a great tribute to Dolores... in all honesty. - CaptainMowzker
They did this song out of respect for Delores and I think they did very well in honoring her song honestly
Again another Disturbed cover that honestly isn't that terrible. - CaptainMowzker
This is actually really cool.
Sure it's not as great as the original, but it's not that terrible. - CaptainMowzker
Overhated? Who hates this?
This song is decently not as good as The Offspring song but this song does not deserve all the hate it gets. The point of a cover is not to do the song over again if so then why don't people just Liston to the original? The Offspring track is about sticking in when the going gets tough and rolling with punches more or less but still feeling emotions. And the FFDP version is about giving up there is nothing to live for and mourning the death or (the charter in the cover's) army friends. So yes not as good as The Offspring obviously but still a great sad track, and decently not deserving of all the hate.
Anyone who says that this is better than the offspring's original is wrong. This doesn't even come close - Revrad
I think that it's a solid cover, the fact that it's on the worst covers list is baffling.. - CaptainMowzker
Like EVERYTHING Green Day does is amazing
Absolutely terrible, but way too stupid to get angry at. - NiktheWiz
This happened? - Userguy44
I once had an entire day ruined because of this.. God I hate it when people ruin great songs
This is awful. But its hilarious.V 8 Comments
Great cover! Why do people hate this? - Userguy44
I think most of the people who do hate it either are Bob Dylan purists who prefer the original or people who hate the sound of Axl's voice. - Gg2000
I don't like either version of this song honestly, both kinda suck in my opinion. - DCfnaf
It's just hated by diehard blues fans and people who hate popular music.
Guns 'N Roses are really good at earlier rock covers, like this one. Another good cover that they did was "Live and Let Die" by Wings. - galaxyfoxV 3 Comments
Awful. a disrespect to Pink Floyd and all Floydians. This cover is not okay. - galaxyfox
An Alice in Chains cover? - Userguy44
This song is NOT a cover... and doesn't deserve to be on this list... whoever added this has NO IDEA what a cover is... - CaptainMowzker
It's an adding Justin Bieber to a list when it makes no sense thing. - Userguy44
Baby is ULTRA garbage! Justin is ASS and GAY. He can't even sing.
Can people at least get the PRINCIPLE of this list right? Also, this song is actually pretty decent. Although that may be because I'm so numb to it now.
It's not even a cover but it's SO bad it somehow gets onto the list, amazingV 3 Comments
This may not be as good as the original, but Brendon Urie can SING.
Don't make sense
For real? - Userguy44
Sorry but I like Queen's version better than Kanye and Panic! at the Disco.
Anything Zebrahead does is great.
Very too much dirty song and 8 minutes boring song.
Not good album it and very very awful song it
This isn't a cover? What? Do not ever seek to disrespect this song by calling it a cover. That's a injustice to even suggest.
A black poor crow cover it
Dirty cover it...
8 minutes borning song it.
A poor crow never fly and only cry.
Not as overhated as other covers so it's pretty low. - CaptainMowzker
This cover deserves all the hate it gets. It is a disrespect to Earth Wind & Fire's classic. - YeezySeasonApproaching
Some things should be left alone
A banjo putting into a funk song. That's something you do not do in a cover Tay Tay. - MissRWBY202
SHE TURNED IT INTO A DANG BREAKUP SONG! WHAT'S NEXT, SHE TURNS "Yeah! " INTO A BREAKUP SONG, OR "Crazy In Love", or "Party in the U.S.A"!?!?!?
Wow, this SUCKS! My number 1. Thank God I haven't heard Kanyes version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Can't remake iconic!
Weezer not Wheezer - Userguy44
Is the 'Wheezer' part out of hatred? 'Cause actually the real name originated from this word as Rivers was called this in school because of his aesthma. - Undistinguished
Nickelback kinda sucks, but this cover is fantastic.
It might not be as good as the original, but what is? It's definitely a lot better than some other groups that try to cover Green Day songs (looking at you, 5SOS). - PoisonSlapping
If you are not expecting a punk rock song then there's no reason to hate it. - Undistinguished
They covered Green Day? - Userguy44
What?!? I have to listen to this! 😃😀 - PatrickStar3
What? - Userguy44
I don't hate this version
This is the best one
This is trash.
Pantera cover? - Userguy44
Anything marylin manson, really
Elvis version - good.
Willie Nelson - brilliant (sang with passion & emotion that song deserves).
Pet Shop Boys - turned a beautiful song into a disco version with no relevance to the lyrics.
This one is funny though. - Userguy44
